Used 2015 Chevrolet Captiva Sport Consumer Reviews
GREAT TRANSPORTATION AT A GREAT VALUE!
The 2013 Captiva I own is an LT. I have loved driving this little SUV. It is quiet, get great gas mileage and is just fun to drive. The rear seats fold down flat which affords plenty of cargo space. The gages are easy to see and the cruise control is the best I have ever used. My LT also has radio controls on the steering wheel which keeps eyes on the road. Good looking and FUN to drive. I highly recommend the Chevrolet Captiva. I now have 99,402miles. Great repair record. Simple up keep. Has been a very dependable car. I now have 89,596 miles on this Captiva. It still runs quiet and smooth. I have had no major repairs and the little Chevy still has no squeaks or rattles. I rotate the tires every 5,000 miles and these tires have 49,600 miles on them and still look good. The paint still sparkles and the seats show no wear. I am still getting 30mpg on the highway and 23.5 combined. I am totally pleased with my Chevrolet Captiva. I only run full synthetics in my engine, transmission, power steering and brake fluids. Keep my tires inflated to 35lbs. I keep my Captiva immaculate inside and out including the engine bay which looks new. Good upkeep on a car will reward you years of dependable service.

Great little SUV
I love my 2014 captiva. First of all, it is easy to get in and out of which pleases my bad knees. Also it handles very well and the gas mileage is great. It is perfect for me.

SUV Surprise from Chevrolet
This model of car was not available in the U.S. on the new car market. I bought my 2013 Captiva LT (in late 2013) as a "new used" from a car dealer with having under 10k miles on it. My wife actually picked it out after driving a few of them. It has most options that I need and is missing a few I would like. It has very comfortable quality front bucket seats. Those seats are quite good on long day trips which is not the norm for other vehicles in that class. It has fold down rear seats (flat) which I like a lot when hauling things. It has an ECO mode for the transmission which helps with fuel economy or if you want more power, it can be disengaged with a touch of a button. It has a 2.4 liter 4 cylinder engine with a 6 speed automatic transmission. It shifts smoothly. I like the vehicle height for entry and visibility. It is a quiet vehicle. I have a few things that can be slightly annoying however - the power point is inside the console, so it needs to be left open to charge your device - my wife's. If in the back, there is one on the back of the floor console. Overall this has been a great SUV for us. My wife and I both enjoy driving and owning it. UPDATE - 03-2019 - My review hasn't changed much. We did have a small issue with an intake solenoid while my wife was traveling with this SUV. It was repaired at the dealer and she was back on the road with it. It still is a great vehicle for those who want a nice SUV.

Car didn't last me as long as expected
I bought my 2013 Captiva in December 2014 from Hertz and the car drove well and looks good on the inside. Never could get the car to pair with my iphone and the acceleration is a bit slow. I was hoping to drive the car without major repairs for another 2-3 years like my Toyota. I was wrong. The car needed lots of repairs once the mileage was over 100k. July 2019 the car engine failed and cost more to repair then what I could actually sale if for. It happened at the worst time. I was very disappointed with the longevity of the car. Do not buy if over 100k mileage.

Great Value for the Money
This is an all around great buy in the turbo 4 cylinder version. Handles responsively and interior trim is nicely appointed. I tested all of the crossovers and this rides better than a Rav 4 for a lot less money.

Nice small suv
The 2014 captiva LTZ is a nicely appointed comfortable small suv that has a lovely classy look that makes makes it feel more expensive than it is. The exterior lines flow nicely the interior is comfortable for four adults. The cargo area is spacious and has a nice cargo restraint system. The front passenger seat also folds forward flat for even more space. The fully loaded options are to numerous to list here but include all the tech goodies you need from Bluetooth to nav and a ten speaker sound system with cd and Sirius Xm. The ride is firm not soft but make a solid impression and handles the road and curves nicely. Cons: trans does not shift well when totally depressing the gas ped
Love my Captiva!
I was looking for something of utilitarian value, yet that would have the comfort features (such as getting in and out of the vehicle, and noise suppression) of an ordinary car. I bought it based on the recommendations seen on this site as well as elsewhere. Most importantly, however, is that because the vehicle (really a Saturn Vue, renamed for fleet use), it was cared for by its previous owner, as companies depend on their vehicles more than the general consumer, and thus maintain them especially well. That, plus the GMC "Certified" ranking, for even more dealer support and reliability, took me over the edge. It was the best purchase I've made by far in many years. My previous was a Chevy Cobalt, also a previous fleet vehicle, with GMC certification, that gave me about 10 years of flawless performance. BUY FLEET, BUY CERTIFIED! It costs a little more, but you'll feel more confident and safer. PS" There's a convenient "eco" setting that enable you to improve your gas mileage. Just press one setting and you have it. I use it all the time and don't find any big difference between not using it and using it.

Brace yourself
Bought mine used with ablot 28000 miles in 2014. Currently I have 125,000 miles on it. About 18 months ago the interior ventilation system stopped working. To it to the dealer about $900.00 warranted (aftermarket) paid about 1/2. About four months ago the timing chain sensor went out. That was about $ 130.00 to fix, the aftermarket warranty was expired. Then the thermostat went out, that was about $ 200.00 (mostly labor. Then about 2 months ago the timing vhane was making noise and that has to be replaced, that was about $ 1,800. Of course at that time the water poumo was also replaced since the these jobs are very labor intensive. Recently the radiator starts leaking another $ 600.00 again very labor intensive, had to disconnect the AC pipes upfront, very labor intensive. I liked the idea of buying American (I guess most of it was made here) but I doubt my next car will be a GM product.

Love @ first fill up!!!
I bought this car about 6 months ago. We were downsizing, and no longer need the 3rd row seating. I am very impressed with this car. I tend to drive faster than necessary, and I will say you will feel like it takes forever when you first accelerate. But once you get into the freeway or open Rd it's great. I am coming from 8 cylinder vehicle with lots of power and room. This car has it all, minus what I said about takoff. I absolutely fell in love with it when I filled it up. Gas is about 2.14 in Utah right now. It took me 32 dollars when it was barely above the red line. It aid I had 451 miles to empty. I got so excited I texted everyone. I know pretty said but hey that was 2 thanks of gas for me. Also it has ran great, have not had a problem as someone above here had with alignment issues. I have not one complaint besides the takeover/acceleration. And I too had also never heard of this vehicle. Wish they had a newer model.

So far, so good!
I came across the Chevrolet Captiva while researching before shopping. I became interested in this vehicle because it seemed the valuation was good when compared to similarly sized vehicles, similar mileage, and similar age. These crossovers were built to go directly to a fleet, meaning they were sold to companies for rental, employees cars and the like. In my search, I found these Captivas were priced anywhere from $2,000 - $4,000 under other similar vehicles in my area. My goal was to find a safe, later model used vehicle that could hold my medical equipment and have easy in and out access for me. I wanted a 4wd to accommodate the winter weather. So far, I am happy with the purchase. My friends and family are impressed. No one has heard of the Captiva before LOL! Hopefully, this vehicle will fit the bill.

Be certain to check oil frequently.
I owned a 2013 and was pleased for about 1 year and a half. I noticed the oil level was constantly low. Did an oil use consumption test at local dealership. Was told that the vehicle was using 1.75 quarts per oil change interval. This was at 75,000 miles. Very disappointed with the motor. Found out later about the problems others were having. I do have a friend that still has one. She stuck 1200 dollars into it last week.

Endless problems and now blown motor
Have had endless electrical problems with it including if you use remote start it will pump window fluid in a constant stream. 90,000 miles engine blew, timing belt issues that are well known caused this… hate this thing and won’t buy GM again

Mixed Feelings
I purchased a 2013 Chevy Captiva a few months ago with about 50,000 miles on it and have mixed feelings about this car. When it comes to reliability, the timing belt started squeaking during start up and acceleration at about 55,000 miles. I haven't had any other problems, however, I have had to do a few small repairs, probably about $300 in the past year. I prefer not to drive this car on the freeway as acceleration is extremely slow, which can potentially become a hazard. I also prefer not to drive this car on hills or even subtle inclines because of the poor acceleration. On another note, this car's cabin is relatively quiet compared to most other cars and feels very stable without feeling rough. Everything about this car is just "eh" like the styling is pretty bad and the interior is pretty cheap, but its not the worst. I wouldn't recommend this car unless you live in a big city or small town away from freeways.

Great Car for older people
My grandparents own a FWD Turbo 4 Captiva. It is extremely comfortable to sit in, and the controls are easy to use and understand. Everything is right where you can reach it and the buttons and symbols are large. It is easy to see out of the front and sides, however the rear visibility is terrible and there is no backup assist on ours. Performance is about what you would expect from a 4 cylinder crossover; could use a little more power but isn't going to leave you too frustrated. The engine under hard acceleration sounds like it doesn't want to. The steering is tight but numb. The brakes are excellent but the pedal is very twitchy. Rear cargo space is long but shallow. There really isn't much space at all with the second row unfolded. My main gripe with the car is that the usb port sometimes says that the device being used isn't compatible, even though it could have been playing music for hours. When it does this, you can't use any of the radio functions until you unplug the device. You can't even see the clock. When the radio does work, however, it sounds great and has a Sirius XM option.

Piece of junk
You cannot get aftermarket parts for this vehicle. We have had issues with getting parts for the power steering, alternator and manifold. I bought this vehicle at Pinkerton Chevrolet in Salem VA and was not in formed that this vehicle was not in tended for sale to the public originally. I feel like I was cheated out of my trade in to begin with and now we have had the wheels aligned at least twice and it still wears out tires in a short period of time. We have bought tires at least 4 times in the 2 years we have had this piece of junk. I have been a Chevrolet/GM purchaser for most of my adult life. My next vehicle will be a Ford or Toyota. Guess I will just paint this one lemon yellow and advertise where I bought it to let people know how I feel. I also suspect it had been previously wrecked or at least had damage under the front of the vehicle due to rust that was discovered there and if so I was not told that at purchase.

My key is stuck
My key sticks, the car turns off electrical problems galore. This captiva must have been a lemon
Piece of s#!#.
Be careful. After 90,000-100,000 miles the engine may lock. The synthetic oil is a problem. No one told me. I had an oil cha6and 1 month later it broke down. Still trying to save money to fix it. Read reviews and see that others had the same problem. Was going to trade in and then the pandemic took my job. Now I'm stuck with a nonfunctioning car until I get back on track.

Do not buy
Please do not buy this vehicle. They were made to be rentals, and you know how people drive rental cars. Poorly made. If this vehicle was not meticulously maintained, it will be nothing but a money pit! I've had nothing but one major problem after another with this vehicle since I purchased it. I've spent a good $8000 in repairs since the date of purchase. I service at another dealership from the one where I purchased it. (I bought it in CA and I live in NV). The Chevy dealership in my state told me that these cars are notorious for burning oil and it only gets worse as they age. Burning oil and multiple oil leaks non stop! Causes damage to other parts. Items I've had repaired/replaced: Water pump, timing cover seal, radiator, radiator fan, heater hoses, one front CV axle, throttle body, drive belt has been replaced 4 times due to being saturated with oil from various oil leaks, idler pulley, idle tentioner, battery replaced twice, catalytic converter, and I'm sure there is more that I can't think of right now. List of items that still need replacement: front and rear shocks, rack and pinion assembly, both front struts, front strut mounts, rear shocks, left and right front tie rod ends, right lower control arms, center rear brake light, hood struts. Tires wear unevenly even with frequent rotation. I get a bit of a discount on labor since I work at a dealership, but still ... no way I'm sinking more $$ into this car! Also, evertyhing rattles ... lots of rattling from the dashboard and vents ... horribly noisy. Not to mention when I got it, it needed 4 new tires, and I have to have oil changes often. It burns so much oil and it can easily go bone dry in between oil changes. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR, whatever you do! If the guys at the Chevy dealership say don't buy it because of the burning oil, and the guys at the dealership where I work say it's piece of junk, and the "guru" Scott Kilmer told me that my car is a "rolling piece of crap" just stay far far away!

It's RED
This Vehicle has computer problems. The vehicle did not recognize the key, and everything would lock up. I had to have the computer replaced. That was 2 years ago. Now the computers in the tires have failed. I am getting the warning low tire pressure, no matter how much air is in the tires.

Bad Engine never buying Chevy again
I had the car since September 2013 and had to get rid of it March 2021. The car lasted longer than expected but came with many issues and required a lot of repairs but they car never left me stranded. It would always break down after I parked thank God. I'm grateful that it lasted as long as it did but wouldn't recommend purchasing this car.

My gogo car
Love this car.
Love my crossover!
Crossover makes it easier to get & out compared to suvs. It's been a great car, no major repairs.
Do not buy a Captiva
This car uses oil like crazy, which the dealers are aware of and fail to tell the customer. The oil light does not come on. I put at least 5 quarts of oil in between oil changes (every 3,000 miles) It has electrical issues. Especially if it's raining. I've had numerous front brake issues. Transmission issues. I bought this car for a reliable transportation to and from work. And it has totally failed me! I do not recommend this vehicle!!

No longer a Chevy lover
I'm 65 and been a Chevrolet lover since I was 18, but no more! My 2013 Captiva was everything I wanted until it was paid for. One month after I paid my final note started having problems. First power brakes, got that fixed and a small $300 part called ? Stabilizer...and days after that the timing chain slipped and then came off. Check almost 3 months to get all the kinks out and back on the road. Then oil usage tripled...I couldn't keep oil. Started hopping and I was told it needed a new motor. Expensive lesson. I've been told that captiva's are a poor investment...no joke.
