Was told not to purchase this vehicle, but did so anyway. I live in a snowy cold climate so this SUV has been great so far. 4WD didn't work the week after I bought it, but was inexpensive to repair, only needed a $70 actuator cable. Also the engine light came on. The garage said it was the coolant thermostat, even though it didn't appear I needed one. Changed it for the $13 it cost just to get the engine light off. In cold climate this this truck runs better with synthetic oil and really good plugs and wires. A bit of rattle here and there in the interior, seat reclining handle is stripped, usual and inexpensive problems/annoyances. Overall this is a great and fun SUV to own!

Fun to drive...Very precise steering, good acceleration. Much easier to maneuver than one might expect. Interior is comfortable and spacious, with the possible exception of the rear seat area, which is somewhat similar to that of a compact car. I'm really enjoying my Blazer and would gladly recommend it to anyone.

My dad bought me my blazer a few months ago. i LOVE it. it has plenty of room. plenty of power for me. 4x4 works great, just had it down on the beach yesterday. it is the perfect vehicle for me right now. the only thing i hate about it is the gas mileage. it seems like im getting about 7 miles to a gallon..and that's for stop and go, well sorta. i live in the country so there's like 2 stop lights i go through, and most of it's just straight driving. i can make it about 30-35 on a quarter of a tank.

I bought this xTreme used and in need of some TLC. It is now in great condition, has been very reliable, and runs like a wild horse. Handling is far better than the LS Blazer I also own, and fuel economy is a rock solid 22MPG on the highway, and about 15MPG around town. This is definitely not the model for all SUV drivers, but more for those who want some spark to go with towing, handling, and looks. The A/C in this vehicle easily handles 100+ temps and the engine cooling system keeps things at 195d. Easy to work on when needed. Changed a bad alternator in less than 15 minutes with no special tools. Parts are cheap and readily available. Wish I could buy a new one.

I have had 0 defects since I had my truck for 4 years. Plenty of room, pulls good and rides better than a normal truck. I maintain my vehicle on a monthly basis. I added an electric fan, K&N cool air kit, and under pulleys and get about 20 to 22 miles per gallon now so I'm very happy about my SUV.

Bought my 2002 S10 Blazer in 2005. Program Car with 20K miles, now has 110K miles. Its has been a great daily driver. I have had brakes pads replaced, rotors and calipers were find, replaced shocks at all for corners with Monroes to improve ride, I did replace the water pump and radiator couple years ago to fix over heating problem. 100K maintenance to change transmission filter and fluid, changed out the spark plug leads & plugs, serpentine belt replaced and engine tuned. Engine performance always been solid, same with transmission and AC system. Back window shocks did fail but simple fix. Also had to replace driver's side interior lower door card & glove box lock. Still getting 23 MPG Hi-way 20 MPG around town. I keep it garaged and paint still is great. Rust free b/c I live in the desert SW.

This is my third S-10 vehicle and the best yet. Great looks, reliable engine, good ride, beautiful interior, very functional, and easy to work on yourself. Bose stereo sounds awesome. I would much rather have a late model Blazer than a Trailblazer. Fuel efficiency could be better but I did buy a truck...not a car. What do you expect. Overall I have no complaints from this vehicle.

I see everyone's reviews and they just blow my mind. I must have got lucky. My Blazer I bought at 95,000 miles on it. Now it has almost 200,000. I have had to replace the fuel pump twice but that is my fault. I hate pumping gas and push every car I have owned to its limits on an empty tank. Every car I have owned has had to have that replaced other than that just BASIC ware and. Tear the transmission started slipping at 190,000 put some stop slip in and its pushing 200,000. No problem. I'm sure the end to this cars life will come sooner than later but I have been satisfied with this car. I do agree with gas mileage needing improvement though it is a gas hog but it is a SUV so expected.

Bad purchase! Car looked great with a 3 year warranty, and nice black paint job. It has been a money pit ever since that first day. I've had everything replaced ranging from rear wiper pump, to the drivers side door motor, u-joint, both front wheel hubs. The rear trim panel, is fried up. The drivers side seat doesn't work right, rear seat doesn't fold down, handle broke. Water from front windshield leak sitting under passenger side carpet. Loose steering. The car honestly feels like it is going to fall apart when I drive it. Although, it's really realible.....for the mechanic.

I bought this car as my second, and I have not had any major problems with it, only minor. Rust on rear rotor caused weird noise, along with washer on driver door causing water to leak. Plastics are cheap inside the car and come apart/ blemish easily. The ride is excellent and it handles better than a truck should. It is a monster through the snow and the clearance is tall enough for anything. I would recommend this car for anyone who has to deal with off-road use as a common thing. Amazing off road and bad weather car, but because of small gear ratio, not that great of a highway car.

I've had my Chevy Blazer for about 5 years now. For ther most part, since it was my first new car, I haven't done too bad. The cons: Changed fuel pump already, build quality is poor, and it eats gas a little too fast, back seats are unconfortable. The pros: Good power, good control for an SUV, Drivers seat is extremely confortable, great driver to dash set up.

When looking for a medium sized SUV, I looked at all makes and models. It came down to either an Ford Explorer or a Chevy Blazer. Chevy offered 0% financing for 60 months, so I went with teh Blazer. I am very pleased with my decision. The Blazer with the ZR2 package looks very sporty and has given me great off road performance. The only bad experience I have had with teh Blazer is gas milage. I get 16MPG in teh winder and 18MPG in the summer (Minnesota). I would consider buying a Blazer in teh future.

Relatively easy to get in and out of (for a truck). Also like the compact size making it easy to park ,etc.Very comfortable ride, like that of a nice riding car, only firmer.

Overall, the car is good, but I have had to bring it back for repairs for the check engine light, side moldings faded, and the rubber on both front doors came off. The one major problem I am having is a noise from around the muffler like a tin can popping. This noise happens all the time. The dealer says this is normal! It started in October, two months after purchase. It is now April and I'm fed up! I am bringing it in again, but not taking no for a answer. I have showed this to mechanics and they said it is not normal, The muffler seems to be bent . This has to be the problem. There's still warranty on the car, but sometimes the dealers do not seem to like to look for the problem.

Great Truck if you want to drive in first gear only. One month after buying it used the tranny went out, it only had first gear, and I had to replace the tranny. No warranty, $1500.00 out of pocket. Have experienced rectal bleeding from taking up the poop shoot from mechanics. Dealers happy, Banks happy, Mechanics happy, guess who's not happy???

This is my first and LAST Chevy purchase. I paid $21K and three years later I can't even get $7K, when comparable vehicles are going for $14K. First week I had it the vehicle leaked. A bad leak. I should have known then. Since then it's been one thing after another, sure warranty covered them for a while. Then my extended warranty kicked in, but the $100 deductable has cost me over $400 this year alone. Leaks, serpentine belts (3 in 3 years), passenger and driver window motors, windshield wiper gadgets gone bad, and more. Poor design, extremely mind-bending trade in values so low that I cannot believe it. The 2-door allows poor access to back, and the big fat spare tire is hard to see around

A year or two into owning my pre owned blazer, it started making this god awful squeaking noise! Nothing we did fixed it! I took it to a mechanic who said he sees this a lot with Blazers, we asked around and tons of other blazer owners said the same! Now, every time I hear a squeaky car driving down the street, 9 times out of 10, it's another blazer!! There were lots of other annoying issues with the blazer. Buttons breaking, plastic pieces snapping off, sun visor breaking, seats ripping and tearing. It also required lots of maintenance. It's not even that I was very hard on it or anything (at the time I was 20something and used it to get to and from work, but we used my boyfriends car for everything else!)

I can't say that I've had any problems with my Blazer. With 60,000+ miles, the only thing I've had to replace are the brakes and tires this winter. It's not got the best pickup on cold winter days, but I'm thinking that's pretty common on many vehicles. Gas mileage is alright, doing excellent on highway travel.

A good looking mid sized SUV. Reasonable offroad performance. Comfortable on long trips, MPG around 20. One of the interior plastic parts came off, but overall the interior is fine. Certainly better than expected considering the "cheesy" label applied to it. Except for the previously mentioned interior part, it has worked flawlessly.

So after the last foreign vehicle I experience (Isuzu) with breaking down and losing time from work, finally decided to buy American! And let me tell you what a different, the ride the performance the look the feeling and very proud of owning an american builded suv s-10 blazer 4wd zr2. I just bought my 2002 Blazer Xtreme and I have been very satisfied. This is my first SUV and I know that there are bigger and better ones these days, but for the xtremes purposes it does its job. It has a very stylish look and is very comfortable. It also has a considerable amount of power and I have no problem keeping up with the rest of the traffic. The xtreme is a very hard car to find especially with the lowish miles that I found in this one. If you can get your hands on a decent blazer I would absolutely suggest it.

This 2002 Chevrolet Blazer is my second Chevrolet vehicle, and the LAST Chevrolet i will ever buy. I had many problems with my 1st Chevrolet (a 2000 Camaro) and even more with the Blazer. Tons of electrical problems, headlights continue shorting out, door locks, power mirrors, and power windows short out. Windows squeak and rattle when going up and down. Windshield wiper module has shorted out three times, Transmission is slipping at 58000 miles, and dealer can never figure out the problem, so the electronics keep shorting out. I hope people considering purchasing a Chevrolet read this and buy something else.

Just got my 02 Blazer out of the shop today for its semi annual $700-800 breakdown. Gas mileage is terrible, ride is loud and uncomfortable. Too many odd noises everywhere, just waiting for the next but now very expected $800 shop visit. Waiting to dump it when I can afford another car payment. Then again, soon fixing it might be more expensive than any car payment and I wont have to go without a car while its being repaired, huge inconvenience. Next will be Toyota for sure.

Worst vehicle I've ever owned. Back to dealer 6 times for left rear door latch rattle. Told me they couldn't find it. Latches replaced finally, door still rattles and is pulled out of position, not lining up in frame. Window trim fell off in my hand on day one. Driver's seat squeeks. More rattles and squeeks than the 14 year old car I replaced. Chevy Email Customer Service says that district managers won't call customers, they'll only work with dealers. Can't wait to get rid of this car.

Overall my extreme has been a decent purchase. I've had problems with the right rear window leaking. After taking it in 4 to 5 times I think it's finally fixed. By the way it wasn't a little leak either. The water stood in the right rear cargo area. Mechanically I have had no problems. Power sunroof has been sound and no leaks. As opposed to the other extreme review my tires lasted until about 45,000 miles. Gas mileage mainly running interstate/highway has been 17/18. Although the reported highway is around 20 or 22. Rear window molding deteriorating. Can't stand the look of it. I have found the seats to be very comfortable. I love the way my extreme handles.

Maybe I got a good one? I've had my Blazer for a little over two years and haven't had it in the shop for anything major other than the horn likes to honk for no reason in the winter time when I turn the wheel. The rear window used to rattle when going over small bumps, but I was able to fix it. This has been a really great vehicle despite these negative reviews. I do regular maintenance, and really test it to its limits. I've added a lot to it like a hitch reciever, and skid plates, and a grill guard. All in all a great vehicle. Maybe I got lucky and got one that doesn't have any problems. Everywhere we drive, we always take the Blazer even though it has the worst gas mileage.

This car is a blast to drive. In all of the reviews, it gets a bad wrap, but an SUV is not build to be fast and handle well. These are the things that it is marked down on. This is a great truck.

I beleive that this car is a really nice suv for a teenager or doing things other than towing, needs a larger engine ro more horsepower and torque

My Blazer has 20K miles on it and haven't had a moments trouble. It has never been back to the dealership for anything. Fit and function are better than the big three average. Paint job quality is excellext. I have driven 4 different Blazers in the last eight years and plan to continue this buying trend.

I just got my new Black 2002 Blazer and I love it! It's so much fun to drive and you get a real sense of power when you get behind the wheel. The engine was a little loud at first, which actually turned out to be a good thing in my opinion; you get used to it though. If it's your first time driving an SUV take it easy on the turns, its very different than a regular car. Aside from that, it handles and accellerates suprisingly well and gives you a comanding view of the road. Again, I LOVE MY BLAZER!

This Xtreme has been in the family since it was first purchased. I bought it from my father after 2 years and I've driven it for another 2 years and just hit 36,000 miles. On the outside it is a very clean, solid looking SUV, and the inside is well crafted. GM has a powerful and exciting engine in this small SUV which is a great fun factor, and stock lowering is a great improvement on handling. Now for the bad news. Tires wore out at 20k miles, everything rattles, and it's been sent to the dealer 6 times since I've had it. A fun vehicle to drive, but at 36k miles I think it's trying to fall apart. If you feel lucky, go for it, but be careful.

31500 and counting. most miles on highway. havent had a single problem with the exception of one. change my own oil got a free change from dealer the first time. the mechanic must have been king kong. took it back and the dealer loosened the drain plug. no sqeaks, rattles, etc. same motor as was in my 90 s10. should be good for over 200k and i never changed the oil in it after 150k (dumb move). very good vehicle if you get it from the right plant and its not built on a monday or friday!
