Used 2001 Chevrolet Blazer Consumer Reviews
Best Vehicle I Have Ever Owned!
I have a 2001 Chevy Blazer that has been in our family for the last 17 years. It has accumulated around 161,800 miles today. This has always been a very sturdy vehicle, and has never left any of us stranded anywhere. The only time we were never able to get it to start was at our house, and it was a super easy fix (cracked rotary cap and moisture in the gas tank). The only major repair we have had to do on this car was get a new transmission (at around 155,000 miles). The trucks handling isn't the best, but it handles extreme weather really well, especially here in MN. The overall comfort of the vehicle is fair, it's not terrible, but definitely could be better. A lot of people seem to forget that this is an SUV, not a fancy sedan or anything. You're gonna feel most of the bumps and what not when going down the road. For gas mileage, I'm usually able to get around 17-19 mpg. Overall, I would really recommend this vehicle to someone who was looking to buy their teen a car, or even just to use it during the winter. If you can find one in a decent shape, and really make sure to keep up on the general maintenance, you should really have no issues with this vehicle. With our Blazer's age and the shape that the body is in, you can tell she's starting to get worn out, and I'm currently on the hunt for finding a new daily driver. However, I have no intentions in getting rid of our Blazer. You can't find a car any more reliable than her!

Decent...
Good truck, too many problems. not reliable. Head gasket went out at 100k, should not be a problem at this mileage. Bought at 87k approx. 6 months before. Gas mileage is poor, truck has power and is fast, but its a cool little truck.

NEVER BUY A BLAZER
Worst car ever, don't ever buy a Blazer. Where to even start, this car is always in the shop. In 2.5 years, everything has gone wrong. Unreliable and unsafe. Know 2 other people with the same car and have the same problems...none of us will ever buy a Blazer again. 4WD, steering, brakes, power seats, windows leaking, catalytic onverter, exhaust system, alternator, you name it, it breaks. 50 miles over warranty, power seats went, 150 over, windows were leaking, 1,000 over, the car jumps when it accelerates. Word of Warning, don't but this car...EVER!
Not Bad For an American
Purchased this car used with about 172K, and the cars been a good experience after 206K. Great engine, provides lots of power, but could be better on acceleration(because of weight). Great on snow and ice, and very reliable for a north-american car. This car's never had any major problems, except the brakes and stereo. Exterior and Interior quality could be a bit better too. Interior plastic is flimsy and moves around very easily, while some of the trim on the exterior pulls off quite easily. All in all, not a bad truck for the every day driver who has to overcome some bad weather during the winter.
CHEEP IS THE NAME OF THE GAME
This is a nice looking vehicle. I have had many problems with this vehicle though, most of which can be atributed to a poor quality build. After the first month this vehicle was in the shop three times. I had problems with kinked fuel hoses, rear defroster which did not work (still does not after repeated attempts), 4WD froze up and would not change out of low, then after it was repaired it would not go into 4WD the following winter. Oil leaks out of the vehicle after only 60000 miles. GM service is the absolute worst in the industry also (they can't seem to fix anything the first time...)
