The BEST TRUCK I have owned

I originally owned the 2002 Avalanche and traded it after 11 years of ownership and 254K miles later for a spanking new 2013 Avalanche which currently has 125k hard miles on it. I use my truck for stop and go/delivery/hwy/grocery shopping/soccer/business landscaping/moving college kids to their new apartments and some other things. The main reason i bought the 2013 is the dependability it provided. I turn the key and it starts. i have gone through basic maintenance, tuneups, brake jobs, tranny fluid changes, tires, and 12k mile oil changes since walmart does my synthetic oil changes for this vehicle and my last. I love their oil changes since it only cost me $40 for synthetic oil plus checking everything and topping off the rest of my fluids. I love my v8 engine and if it runs just as good as my last truck and so far its doing it, I will have to start checking my oil usage around 150k miles and begin adding 1/4 quart of oil every 5k miles. Sometimes I neglect to check and just wait til i reach 12K miles and let the guys who do it when i bring it in. I probably plan to keep this vehicle til it reaches around 350K since i started to drive it to other states as i visit other states for vacation. My Avalanche has never failed me nor do i worry that it will since my last avalanche never did either and i used to drive the 2002 avalanche like a beast....This 2013 avalanche for some reason i tend to baby it just a little bit. Well I am very sad knowing that once i drive this vehicle as much as i can, i will not be able to replace it with another. I hope that something like this will be available in the future, but who knows the future. We might all be sitting in trucks that drive themselves....Oh how boring life will be then......But for now Enjoy your AVALANCHE......I love this truck when i go snowboarding as well, it climbs mountain passes smoothly without any snow chains, but ofcourse i use snow tires blizzaks during the winter. I do recommend you to purchase this even if it is used and you need a dependable truck. I am sure its still about $20K if you were to buy one now with low miles. 5.3 litre engine is what i have. Hmmmmm i might just go shopping for another one as well and just store it in my garage until i need it........Enjoy

Still going strong. Dealer makes offers every time in for service. Do not hesitate to buy. Never had any issues with the 2013 Black diamond. It is the last date they were sold by GM. Big mistake. Edmunds needs to update their page to include the 2013 model. 2020 Feb update still running very good and no issues.

CHEVY NUMBER ONE IN MYBOOK

I have a 2013 Chevy Back Diamond Avalanche this is the 3rd Avalanche I have owned, the first two I had did not have the Z71 package. The ride was exceptional, and the vehicle was so quiet that you could not hear very little outside noise or road noise, the gas milage on the first two vehicles for highway would average 18 to 22 miles on a trip, the only complaint that I have is the Z71 gas mileage highway tops out around 19, I run flex fuel alot as the time, where I live is around $1.29 to $1.59 per gallon, I have been told that the mileage will drop using flex fuel. But the reduced cost I feel makes up for the difference. The Z71 does not ride as good as the standard model, but still is much better than the trucks I have had, and also better than the cars. I hated to hear that they are know longer making the vehicle.

Holds value better than I had hoped and still get comments on looks of truck, only thing to possibly knock is MPG.. but I knew that going in...

the biggest downfall of this vehicle is the navigation system, i think GM figures why should it be easy? jsut push onstar for directions. would prefer to dod it myself, and it isnt easy to program or do anything with it unless parked and no cahnges unless you stop. typing street names is slow going too. the screen is a bit small also. positives: great ride, great 4 wheel drive traction and operation, comfy all around highway and in town, resaonable gas milage 17-19 with a mix of both city and highway. I like the rear fold down back seat and hatch that opens into the bed, I thought well maybe id use it a couple times a year. I was wrong, use it at least once a month, and I don't even drive it all that much, I have only 30,000 miles on it since new. (parked winters) that's how much I love this truck! never taken to dealer outside of a software update check for nav.

2013 LTZ Black Diamond Best vehicle I have Owned

This is my second Avalanche. My previous was a 2011 Z-71. The only reason I traded the 2011 (with 160K miles) was because I fell in love with the looks and options on the 2013 BD LTZ. I have had no problems with either of the Avalanches, other than regular maintenance (fluid changes, brake pads, tires, etc). I own a 2009 Mercedes Benz and would give up the Mercedes before giving up the Avalanche. Even though it is already 6 years old, I still get lots of compliments on it as well as constantly hearing "I wish they hadn't stopped making them" which I agree with whole hardedly. If I have the money, I will send it back to GM when it hits 300K miles to have it restored from the ground up. 2022 Update: certain model years of Avalanche, Tahoe, Suburban, suffer from a manufacturing defect of a cheap and thin dashboard enclosure that will crack after several years. Probably more than 85% of these models will have the dash enclosure cracked...just look around. My 2011 and 2013 Avalanche have experienced this. Everything I am reading, as a well as a visit to the Chevrolet Dealership is that General Motors/Chevrolet refuse to accept this issue and as a result will not fix or address the issue. Average cost to replace the dashes $1800. The fact that GM refuses to accept this as a flaw that they are responsible for is leading me to reconsider a Chevy or GMC truck as a future replacement.

Great ride, comfortable, smooth, quiet (until you upgrade the exhaust) reliable head turner! This is my 3rd Avalanche and I only replaced the others as I was working up to this one being it’s the last of its kind. This is an 8 year old truck that has had zero problems and is an absolute head turner especially in the rare fairway green Métalic! This truck looks modern and is nicer than just about any newer truck on the road and you won’t see many of them so If you kind of like to stick out but blend in at the same time this is the truck/suv (what you wanna call it) for you ! The midgate function is great and so practical for someone like me who Surfs and wants to be able to long long boards inside the vehicle if I decided to shortboard! Great surfmobile! This is why I have had 3! I had one with a cap on it and that was even more handy but definitely changes the appearance for better or worse? idk. Great for beach, camping and dogs at that point! The fact that it rides like a Cadillac Esclade but has the functionality of a truck when needed makes this a no brainer especially for someone who has to rent or borrow someone else’s truck for something now and then but doesn’t necessarily enjoy the ride quality of a truck on the daily. I really can’t say enjoy good things about this truck and honestly can’t think of one bad thing other than when hitting a speed bump fast the front shocks slam, I don’t know of I have an issue or it’s just that the special air ride may ride or whatever suspension they call it can’t handle that sudden jolt. My other Avalanches didn’t do this but had the basic suspension . It’s not enough if an issue to make me get it looked at as I have no problems with this truck and I don’t trust mechanics. Seems like I’ve experienced or know enough people who end up having more problems after leaving some mechanics than they had to begin with. Having a good, reliable and honest mechanic is paramount no matter what you drive!

Well I have owned this vehicle for 5 years now and not a single problem. This is my first Avalanche and will be my last. I hope they decide to bring it back some day. Love the style of the truck. The comfort level for long distant driving is easy on the body. The only thing I did was to upgrade the rims and tires to the LTZ style. I think the 17" does not give the vehicle the look it deserves. Change the oil, and had the transmission oil changed per dealership advise. I have over 84k miles and still is going strong and hope for many more miles. Resale value I think is great and still looks great also. The worst thing about this truck is the MPG. I get about 17 mpg on HWY driving and 14 or so on city.

What a wonderful vehicle. The ability to turn it into a pickup truck with an 8 foot bed came in really handy several times. The ride was great, mileage was as expected.. If there was still an avalanche being made, I would have traded the 2013 in for a new one.

amazing handles like a sports car extra quiet beyond beleafe and will carry a four by eight sheet of plywood, it's huge, loads of room inside, skimpy rear seats good in a pinch, loads of fun to drive, it will not win many drag race, makes a goof family vehicle

2013 Vehicle Year, 2023 Feature-Wise

I compared the 2013 Avalanche to my 2018 2500HD diesel Silverado, and the Avalanche is almost exactly the same feature-wise. The only thing I don’t care about in the Avalanche is the the dashboard features are (1) extremely small and hard to see, and (2) the dashboard texts are light blue, horrible contrast, and also hard to see.

Just as nice as my previous 2010. And thats were it stops. GM removed some very good options, that cheapen the LT, from previous years and made it impossible to purchase another LT with previous options. GM also removed the on road, off road AT style tires from the Z71 suspension and replaced them with all season only tires.
