it's a keeper
HAVE DRIVEN IT 1500KM SO FAR FUN TO DRIVE. NICE FIT AND FINISH.
Great New Chevrolet
Having owned many new and used cars in the last thirty years, from Triumph Spitfire to BMW 2002, to Lincoln Town Car, this new Chevy gives a lot of quality, performance, and comfort for the dollar. Even though it is a Chevy/Daewoo and offers less of a warranty than the competition, I chose it because of the Chevy badge. Plain and simple. General Motors is standing behind and with it. It holds five easily, a wheel chair in the trunk, gives a comfortable and suprisingly quiet ride. Handles agile, and peppy when driven for performance.

Low cost commute
I bought this car for $9k in 2005 with only 10k miles on it. I have a 20 mile commute, half highway half city. I get around 32 hwy and 30 average. It started missing in year 3 but new plugs fixed the problem. Also a sensor on the brake pedal broke and would not shift into gear. At 80k replaced the timing belt and water pump at the same time. Ran great. At 137k now it needs some engine repairs. Waiting to hear on cost.
Love this car
I just love this car I have had it a month and a half. It was the last 2004 on the lot and it had a 5-speed. I have averaged about 29 mpg around town and 38-40 on out of town trips. I like the quirky style and the cavernous interior.
I love my Aveo!
I've only had my car for 2 days, and I'm lovin it. I get a lot of comments on it.
Jason's One Month Aveo Review
What sold me first on this car was the Mp3 player. I have a lot of music I like and it is hard to fit them all on one cd. It handled very well on the road test. When you look at it from the outside, it looks small. When you get in, you have plenty of room. And the gas mileage has been good.
For 9 Grand, What the Heck? (Plus 33 MPG
I bought this car when it first came out in March. I thought I wanted a hatchback but I bought a black sedan (with trunk) and everyone thinks it's a Toyota Echo. I went to Pep Boys and bought some gunmetal gray eight spoke alloy wheels that nearly match the black metallic exterior color for $50 each. I bought a slightly wider premium set of tires from Costco to improve the ride and handling for about $400. (Michelin MXV4 Energy Green) It has good headroom for people up to about 6'6" and a decent back seat. Build quality not bad so far with few complaints to date. If it had power windows and cruise control I would be very happy.
130MPH!!
I bought my Aveo on the nite of 7/25 and about 2hrs later I figured I would "see where the fuel cutoff engages", well to mine and my friends suprise, there is no limiter, I stretched 4th gear out to 5500rpm and shifted to 5th, slowly climbing all the way past the 120mph speedometer it hit the odometer peg (124-125?) at 5400rpm in 5th and proceeded to pull upto 5700rpm, I figure we gained another 5-6mph. So, on a more "polliticaly correct" note, the engine in this car is straight from the Daewoo Kalos (along with the rest of the car) and it's a proven reliable engine... it was in the Daewoo Lanos and Nubira back in 98- 99 and it's been a good reliable motor
A surprise car!
I was originally looking for a bigger car but after the test drive in the Aveo, I was hooked! This car is so much fun to drive and I was soo surprised by how the small engine provides good performance. I was also surprised by the amount of interior space, I thought it would be small by looking at the car from the outside.
Econo box? Not anymore
A new entry-level car that really does feel upscale. I am continually surprised by the ride quality, low noise, and effortless cruising at 75 mph. The automatic transmission is velvet-smooth, and the interior is surprisingly roomy. The interior does not look expensive, but not gawdy and cheap, either. A fine car all around, backed by GMC's vast dealer network.
A great little family car
Affordable to purchase, maintain, and run. Great on long car trips (over 500mi) and very good looking for an economy car. Don't compare it to the expensive cars, but if you compare to others in its class (Toyota Echo, Pontiac Wave, Sunfire, Cavalier) this car outdoes them all for space and apppearance. I test drove them all and still bought the Aveo. We all love it!
Great All Around
I looked at this car on accident. I really wanted a focus, but couldnt understand why i was going to pay almost $2500 more for a focus with 5spd and air when i got my AVEO loaded. I added the cruise, i spent the extra cash, but it was welll worth it.
Very Nice Car
I took this car for a test drive, and I enjoyed driving it so much that I had to have it. It is comfortable to sit in, has great gas mileage, and is very roomy.
First new car...
I am SO excited about this car... I was driving a 91 jetta that I put $4,000 into in under 18 months-- I was NOT going to deal with anyh more used car problems... The aveo was the cheapest new car i could possibly by, I went to 12 dealerships and was in LOVE with this car. It is an AWESOME value and I don't think I could have possibly done any better for what I had to go on. I'm 18, with a cosigner and a little help for the down payment, I'm paying $175 a month... totally do-able.
Great lowcost Money
I bought this car a couple of weeks ago and I can say that I'm impressed. Great design, good fuel economy and even quality build. Far more then I expected for this price. Even it's 95 percent made by Daewoo.
aveo
good solid all around economy car.I was a little disappointed with the average mpg of 28;however,there are no glaring deficencies.fit and finish are good.Long term reliabilty is still to be determined.
Perfect car for a grad student
I spent this summer visiting family all across the US, from Seattle to Chicago to Denver, so I needed a reliable car, but I'm a grad student with very little money. That's why I got a Chevy Aveo LS. I was often up around 40 mpg on the freeway, so travel costs were pretty low. This car has adequate power (even for crossing the continental divide), great responsiveness, and plenty of features to make the ride comfortable and enjoyable (especially the mp3 player). The interior is very roomy, though you wouldn't know it from looking. I put 5000 miles on it in 2 weeks and still wasn't sick of driving it.
The Aveo is Fun!
The new Chevy Aveo is a smart, good- looking, fun vehicle! The body design is such that it can easly maneuver into many tight spots while the interior provides ample space for even the tallest passengers. It has the power to come up to speed quickly, smoothly and quietly. Overall, it's impressive.
Zippy
Wow this car can get away with you if you dont watch out. watch the speedometer. Just have had it 3 weeks and love it. I traded in my 97 Metro for this one. (I also owned a YUGO!) and a Pinto, and an Escort Wagon
Okay, but my Metro is way better!!!
I own a 97 Geo Metro and my wife has the Aveo. At first she loved it, but after a time, she noticed some instability during windy conditions due to the twist beam axle that was not apparent with the fully independant suspension in the Metro. Secondly, the build quality, not material quality, is greatly superior in the Metro. Overall, fuel economy is better with the three speed auto in the Metro than with the four speed O/D auto in the Aveo. I am not impressed with the Aveo, and am now regretting it.
Think before you buy!
This car is a peppy little car. The price is right. That's the only positive things about this car. Alternative to a used car???? It like driving a tin can. Cheaply made somewhare in Korea. That should be you first clue not to buy this car. I should have listened to my first instincts. "PASS THIS ONE UP." The placement of the cup holder is dangerous. It can stop the car from going into park when a cup is in right holder. It caused mine to fly out of gear and through a garage door. Feels like it could turn over easily due to high center of gravity. Don't drive it in a wind storm!
Surprising little car!
I had my doubts when I first considered this little car, but it really is a surprise! Very roomy, comfortable and quiet. The driver's seat is very comfortable on your lower back. Love the sunglasses compartment on the drivers side, very convenient if you always wear them while driving. Great sound. The remote key alarm lock has a cute little chirp that seems to match this little puddle-jumper. VERY good price and quality, especially for the younger 1st time car buyer with a tight budget!
Great Economy Car
This car is a great car for someone who does lots of driving. I have already put about 17,000 miles on mine in 6 months time with no problems, just general service checks. The driver's conditions could be better. It took a while to get used to foot placement for best comfort. The trunk is extra roomy, as is the interior. I bought the bottom line model for a little over $6000, great buy! My only small complaint is my max MPG has been 35, and that was in excellent conditions. Average is more like 31- 33.
Do NOT buy one of these!
The saddest day of my life was the day I bought one of these things. Poor quality, poor craftsmanship, hopelessly bad dealer servicing. Already had it in the shop twice with less than 500 miles! Wait a few years before buying one these.
great Car for first car
I bought this car after looking for a couple of weeks at competing dealerships. The price was right and the value has proven well worth it.. If very rarely takes me more than $20 to fill it up and it last for a little over a week including the 40 miles i drive back and forth to work.
love my car
I have had my car for about a month now and I get all kinds of compliments on it. It rides nice and I feel it is very comfortable and economical. Would advice it for anyone looking for an economical and cute car.
My 2005 AVEO is GREAT!
Very well built auto in all aspects of a compact fuel saver transportation and just plain fun to drive car! I use the car for comuting to and from work on city streets and highway. Interior comfort is more than I expected for the price. The prime reason for this purchase is fuel efficency and that's what I got!
CHEVROLET AVEO
I COULD NOT AS FOR A BETTER CAR THEN AVEO.I DRIVE FROM 300-400 MILES A WEEK I CAN NOT BEAT GAS MILEAGES 35-40 MILES GALLON,INSIDE REAL NICE LOT OF SPACE,WHEN ARE A BIG PERSON LIKE ME.LIKE SOME OTHER CARS ,DO NOT PUT ANY NAMES OUT THERE IN COMPACT CARS , WHEN YOU DRIVE LONG WAY EVERYDAY ,THE NUMBER 1 COMPACT OF 2004 CHEVROLET AVEO
Great car for what it is
If you're looking for a little commuter car, this is it. If I was a long -distance cruiser, I wouldn't have picked this car. It is roomy, comfortable and an adequate performer. I think it is well built and a good design. If it holds up over the years, I'll be very happy.
Cute Little Commuter
Surprising amount of space up front and in trunk. Fun little car to wrack the miles up on and not feel bad about it. This little guy is sacrificing to save a new Tacoma Double Cab.
Pretty nice first car
This was my first car. I have put well over 20,000 miles on it and it is still ticking without any problems. Gas milage could be better and the dings I have received from cars bumping my doors are annoying. I certainly will upgrade for my next purchase and probably get a Toyota Prius, but this is an excellent starter car.
Excellent for the price.
I paid $7999.02 with taxes, tags, etc a year ago, brand new. Excellent price. I needed a car, and cheap at that. I'm not unhappy with the car or the purchase at all. I put about 17,000 on it delivering pizzas and it performed wonderfully. It's very reliable. Nothing gave out yet, except for the tires. It ate the factory tires bare. New tires had to go on at 21,000 miles. It averaged about 28 MPG delivering pizza, and about 30 to 33 during "normal" driving. The trunk is huge. Easy enough to do my own oil changes and tire rotations. The only mechanic work I've had to hire out is installing the tires on the old rims.
Great Little Car
I've had my Aveo for just about a month now and I have been nothing but impressed with the car. I have driven the car in the flat lands of West Texas and the mountains of New Mexico and its performed very well. The engine has pleanty of pep and the interior is very spacious. I'm a big ole boy and I'm more than comfortable in the car.
The Review
I have had the Aveo LS for about a year in a half now... and I love it. I have only had one problem with it, and that was that the coolent was leaking...I brought it to the dealership that day and haven't had a problem with it since. The car is on the light side tho, so for those windy days you need to really pay attention because you do drift a lot. For the cost of gas, this is a great way to go.
awesome car
great car!!!!!!! it is very big on the inside. great gas mileage. chevy needed a car like this. great payments as well!!!!!
Gonna keep it!
So far so good. I average 5000 miles a year. Only one safety recall for the seat belt clip. I thought the mileage would be better for a small car but the automatic transmission has held mine back. This is a great car for getting around town and for training my teenager. She will get it one day since based on edmunds value of this car I owe more than it is worth but with no down payment that's OK.
zippy little red sedan
The room in this car and the zippy little that just won't quit make and all around good little car.
Very pleased with my Aveo
I have been very pleased with my Aveo, on average I get about 29-30 miles per gallon in town and when I'm on the open road I've averaged as high as 36- 37 miles per gallon. recently a dealer offered me well over the bluebook value for my aveo because they were looking to boost their inventory of smaller cars, but why should I get something new when I get the mileage that I do. Really have not had to put a great deal of money into it, just the basic and recommended things. Overall I can only say good things about my Aveo and that I won't be getting anything new soon, because the newer cars don't even get the miles per gallon my car does now.
I LOVE MY AVEO
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A NEW AVEO IN 4/04. I LOVE IT, I TRAVEL ABOUT 70 MILES A DAY BACK AND FORTH TO WORK AND ITS GREAT ON GAS. ABOUT 43-45 MILES PER GALLON. I HAVE 6,245 MILES ON IT. I GOT A GREAT DEAL ALSO, MY OTHER CAR WAS AN 88 FESTIVA,SO I GOT NO TRADE IN ALL SAID AND DONE WITH 2000 DOWN I WALKED INTO ONE (WITH THE 5 YEAR 100,000 MILE BUMPER TO BUMPER EXTENDED WARRANTY) FOR 9,124 DOLLARS. I THOUGHT IT WAS A STEAL, I AM NOW SEEING THEM FOR 9,000 WITH A 3,500 TRADE IN AND 3,000 DOWN. I BELEIVE THEY WERE A GOOD SELLER SO THE PRICE WENT UP. GREAT JOB CHEVY YOU HAVE A WINNER AND A LONG TIME NEW CUSTOMER!!!!!!!
Best Car I've ever Owned!
My mechanic recommended this car, and I'm glad I listened to him. Have done nothing but oil/lube in the 2-1/2 years I've owned it. Not one mechanical problem. Very fun to drive, easy maneuvering, good pick up on the passing gear. Like everyone else says, great interior room. Looks small and squished in from the outside, but when you get inside, you feel like you're in a Suburban. My boyfriend is 6'5" with a very long torso; he ususally has to hunch down in a car. He couldn't believe the headroom in the Aveo. It's a zippy little rollerskate and you can park it anywhere. The gas mileage is terrific.
Great Compact for your Buck
Great car for the money. Handles wll, plenty of zip. Stylish and roomy yet economical.
Red Lemon
Nice to drive, traded Metro in for an Aveo sedan. Has been to dealer six times for warranty repairs with only 34,000 miles on it. Fuel mileage is not great. My Chevy Impala with 3.8 gets as good. Dash hard to read in daylight. The stupid chrome around shifter has sun glare off of it. In cold weather, will not shift into over drive for several miles.
Leap of Faith
The Chevy Aveo looks like a winner. Great styling and roomy. Believe it or not,the cabin, except for the front seat hip room which is a few MMs narrower, is roomier than a Corolla. The drive is good and the performance is fine. The fit and finish seems very good and after test driving the Aveo, the Kia Rio,and the Accent back to back, the Aveo came out a clear winner in all aspects.Especially the low noise levels compared to the other two.The car is built by Daewoo (lot's of junky cars here) and sports a GM badge(just drive a new Cavalier and you'll remember why you swore off GM so many years ago) We'll see if GM lets us down this time,so far so good.
It is a fun and snappy car
I have had my car for over a year now and it has been a joy to drive. It has lots of room and it handles very good. Since I have got it broken in the mileage has vastly improved and I am quite happy. My in town mileage started of at about 27mpg and after the break in period it is now 29-31. Highway mileage went from about 35 to 37-40 mpg.
I Love My Aveo!
I have never ownwed a brand-new, fresh-off-the-lot car before. And i'm 34 years old! I had to find the cheapest car possible, so when I saw the Aveo ads, I decided to check it out. I have been so pleased! The price is right, it handles great,it turns on a dime,it has a good high suspension-and high seats, and a surprisingly roomy interior "feel".The only gripe I can think of is the sound quality of the stereo-probably the speakers' fault. The same C.D.s and radio stations sounded much better in my old car. But to me, the most important features are all well-represented.
What A Pleasant Suprise!
Been driving Ranger trucks for 20 years and wife owns a Saturn. Neither of us could believe the interior roominess of the Aveo. For me, the very best part is getting in and out of the car. I have to step UP out of most small cars, and DOWN out of a truck. With the Aveo I just step OUT! This is great when you have bad knees. Even with the automatic this car is peppy. The ride is quiet and smooth. Tilt wheel is great. The wife is jealous.
Sporty and fun, but beware...
I have a base model. I was very pleased with my "new" car for the first 3 weeks. My first trip my car "clunked out" and was out of service for almost 3 months. The parts were hard to find and it turns out that the Cerpintine belt went out and everything else followed. Come to find out, when you get a new belt on these cars they need to be checked and tightened every 5000 miles. I wish I would have known that before hand. Keep tight wraps on the maintenance and this car serves well. Also, since the work on my car, I can not get the radio to work, and buying a used car, it didn't have the "access code" for the radio. When I call around to get it, they say it'll cost about $100.
Run Away and Never Return!
This car was purchased as a gift brand new. I was very disappointed it didn't last 3years and the timing belt broke and the car was extremely damaged. Like 5600 dollars in damages the car only cost 9000 to 10000 dollars are you for real? Please, please, please do not buy this car. It will leave you stranded!
Hope it lasts!
This is my first new car, and I must say I do love it! However, I'm noticing several interior and exterior design flaws (i.e. windshield wiper fluid sprays sideways rather than on the windshield, back seats don't fully click closed so they fall forward when I break, etc.). I feel like the car was put together too quickly.
Great Buy
Yet Another Great Dependable car buy GM
