I Did My Research After Missing Out on a 2005 V-8

I'm older and I've had my hot rods and I still own some investment classics, but I am also a proud owner of a 2008 V-6 Rear Wheel Drive SRX Luxury Base with Sunroof in Raven Black with light grey interior, and I'm so happy with my choice! I bought my truck from a GM dealership and it came with a drive train warranty which I never needed. With the exception of some corrosion under a loose battery cable it's been trouble free, and AWESOME. I drug my feet and let a low mileage 2005 Raven Black V-8 get away and I started reading up on these trucks, and that's what they are as designated by Cadillac, and even though they have some timing chain issues from oil sludge and oil usage that goes unnoticed by some, I opted for the V-6 because the V-8 has it's own issues and it requires premium gas to run right. I wanted the comfort, styling, panoramic sunroof, Bose system, true rear wheel drive, which rules out the SRX after 2009, the ground clearance and sporty handling, but I have a Z-71 Sliverado 4x4 for off road or hauling needs, and that V-8 Chevy can run fine on regular too. My SRX doesn't get great gas mileage but I drive it like a sports car so that's to be expected. Checking the oil and changing the oil at least every 5000 miles in that V-6 with what GM recommends, and they will give you good service. If you do get a bad one and you have to change the timing chain once that's done you're good. I have the same engine in my Camaro Convertible and that's the key to trouble free service, clean oil.

Lemon

8 months into the purchase, I begin to believe that I've got a lemon. Currently, it is broken down and has been here and there throughout the tenure. Here is the chronological order of things that broke down: 1. Handle holder on the roof (the one that you hold on to to get in and out of the car) -- was hammered in -- easy fix. 2. Front seat plastic backing was hanging -- clamp was off -- easy fix. 3. Muffler was rumbling, weird noise level up -- clamp was off -- easy fix. 4. Engine chugging -- spark plug replaced. 5. Back seats rattling wildly and violently at high speeds -- wheel balancing did not solve the problem -- still rattle. 6. Power steering and pump failed. 7.Chugging bad

It's really an SUV

I get 22 mpg on the highway. My wife loves it and it's the only SUV cross- over that has enough room in the back to really be called an SUV. I'm more comfortable in the SRX than in my truck. It has leg room in the back seat as well. The steering & handling is excellent.

Do not buy this car

Every fill up my gas mileage gets worse. I over paid and can't resale because it's worth nothing. 3rd row seat, sun roof, steering wheel heat doesn't work properly. Water fills up in the emergency rear compartment.
