Great idea for a car, but AWFUL issues
I bought this car brand new in early 2017, so I've only been driving it for about 4.5 years. Two years in, I had to get the transmission replaced - thankfully, under warranty. A year later, I had to replace the rear differential. 6 months after that, I had to replace the AC. Two days after that, I was told my catalytic converter needed to be replaced. For most of these issues, I was told it was a "known issue" with these makes/models, but not worthy of a recall. Almost $7k has been put into this car to essentially rebuild it from the tires-up. And the dealerships aren't sympathetic to the issues. It's a great car in theory, but completely unreliable.

Did I get a different Buick?
I almost think I got a different model or maybe I missing something. Before my car was delivered I read other things online that made me concerned: Concern 1: no passenger armrest. One of the first things my fiancé said to me (as I was driving/she was passenger), was “I really like this soft arm rest.” Now again, I may have misunderstood other comments, so I’m not saying those ppl are wrong. But there’s definitely a shared armrest that folds down from between the front two seats, and I thought it was pretty nice. Concern 2: lack of power/weak engine performance. My previous cars were a 4 cylinder Jeep and 4 cylinder Hyundai. So obviously I’m not coming in with a strong background in high performance autos lol. That said I don’t notice any difference. My Buick seems to have just as much get up as other cars I’ve had, but considering the other cars, I’m not the best person to ask. I thought the power was just fine. I’m surprised that this is considered a luxury car. There is slightly more attention to detail but I barely notice. To me the materials are pretty much the same, maybe one notch up, from my fiancé’s base trim Honda and my friends mid trim Chevy. My mother has a top level trim Chevy and my boss has some fancy big BMW. I can tell a difference with those. What I love about my car is the way it looks. Sort of cartoonish from the front because of the big headlight covers. That look isn’t for everyone of course but I like it. I think the seats are really comfortable, it’s a great size, and I think it maximizes interior space.

Looks expensive
bought this 2016 buick encore 3 weeks ago. I traded in my 2009 ford escape, l loved this ford BUT as soon as 100,000 rolled over the problems began. tranny leak, arm bushings went, tires cupped and very loud road noise. Mechanic stated it might cost me more to fix then it is worth. so the hunt began. I am retired living on soc. sec., so funds were limited. Drove 3 cars,a chevy cruise which i hated, shut off at stop signs, had a push button start. drove 2 buicks, loved the way it handled. I am short and i sat up high and was not obstructed. the sml. engine worked for me, i do not drive California express ways. The trunk is smaller but big enuf for me. i am still learning all the controls. Do not use the so called blue tooth, etc. heck i do not have a smart phone. Live in Pa., horrible winters. But, retired and do not drive to work. it is bright white and looks great. it is AWD. Cross my fingers that i made a good decision. But the Ford had to go. No more fords for me.

2016 BUICK ENCORE SERVICE EXPERIENCE
The only thing keeping me from rating the very first and only service experience at Williamson Buick in Miami 'a perfect 10' is the fact that although the service advisor (Ivan Pellegrino) told me they had been able to duplicate exactly what I had brough the car in for (what I called 'a hesitation from a full stop on Drive'), and had verified the same thing in other Encores, therefore concluding it was 'normal' for the design of its powertrain, the documentation I received simply says 'no trouble found'. This concerns me, for it would indicate there is no feedback to the factory that there is a potential performance issue with the current Encore design, not to mentio the fact that if this symptom gets worse with time, there is no reference as to the fact that it was exhibited when brand new.
nice little SUV
I was very pleased with comfort & handling. very easy to get in & out of. very easy to park. fun to drive, good mileage
