Great little SUV

I purchased my Encore GX to travel 62 miles each way back and forth to work. I needed a vehicle that got good gas mileage and had the option of AWD due to the snow the area receives in the winter. So far I have put over 6k on it and other then hitting a bear the SUV has been great. Even hitting the bear the Encore GX did its job. I was hesitant at first purchasing a 3 cylinder engine. It has not been an issue. It has plenty of acceleration. I am avg. 29 mpg with the Encore GX. If you plan on traveling with 4 adults, the back seat is tight. However if you are looking for a great small SUV, take a serious look at the Buick Encore GX.

Nice blend of features/utility

Leased a GX Essence for my wife, and it's the perfect size for her. It's not going to win any races, but the 1.3L Turbo has enough pep to keep up with the standard crossovers near us on the road. The infotainment system is easy to use, the leather feels nice, and the oversized sunroof make the car feel bigger inside than it is. LED headlights perform well at night, and the option for the fog lights/auto high beam make it even safer on backroads. Good safety options - blind spot monitors, lane departure, and pedestrian alert all seem to have good sensitivity BUT the forward collision alert was shut off due to an overwhelming number of "alerts" under normal driving situations. The back seats fold flat, and there's a surprising amount of cargo space for the size of the car. Hoping the 4WD in the snow will be sufficient in New England, but we have a Jeep as well so it wasn't top of mind when making a decision. This is our first GM product - so far, so good.

Some Reviews Don’t Seem Authentic

My wife’s favorite, ever car. Has all the luxuries of high dollar compact SUVs without the sticker price. And with rebates it has the price of the lower level compact SUV. Some of the negative reviews do not reflect our experience. Honestly they don’t even seem factual. We bought new and now have over 10,000 miles on it with NO issues. We have friends with same vehicle with no issues that agree with our positive review. Seems like competing brand salesmen are writing reviews and are not real owners. Some of the negative reviews are way out of the reality of the experience that we have had as owners. And the pro reviewers complain about engine pickup and vibrations. Our Encore GX has as much merging traffic capacity as the luxury SUVs, much better MPG with no discernible vibration when stopped or driving. We just completed a 700 mile road trip and got 38 MPG. Which is better then the predicted. Granted we drove at the speed limit.

Problems from First Day!

Picked up car and on the way home, engine light came on. Was in service for two weeks before they could figure out problem. I like the car, had 3 previous Encores that were great. This one is not. When I turn it off (sometimes) it’s sounds like it’s about to fall apart. On the expressway, it wobbles everywhere. It’s like I’m always in a wind storm. Needless to say, I’m not a happy camper. Tried to get Buick to allow a repurchase...said NO! Will be visiting the service department again!

I had my car for 2 weeks and the brakes and power steering went. Towed to dealer. It is the master cylinder. They are on back order and I have had a rental going on 3 weeks.
