Awesome roadster for tall drivers

I am 6'2" and fit comfortable in driver's seat. I have tested other roadsters and I fill like Donkey Kong in a cart in those. Drives like a go cart. Best looking car in almost any parking lot. Motorcycle type fun with airbags. Golf clubs fit in the trunk. Reliable.

Worth looking into

This car is a definite good buy. I have leased this 2006 BMW Z4 3.0i and so far I have been satisfied. The overall perfomance is great but one thing I would rather have is front wheel drive instead of rear because it affects driving in rain. Since I live in Las Vegas the rain is not an often issue, but when it actually rains I have to watch out and drive carefully on turns. Gas mileage is rather typical for 3.0. Interior design is not what I have expected and this is my biggest disappointment. It really looks cheap maybe because I am used to Audi's unusual design but still this is not so good for a BMW.

2007 Z-4, Florida home. Avoid the bigger engine version since it comes only with the sport suspension which is a bit stiff. Test drive on less than perfect roads. Handling suspension terrific given mine was not the sport suspension. Paddle shifters. Decent mileage. Requires 91 octane for max performance. I gas up every 1/2 tank full, rotating between 93 premium and 87 regular. Get 24-25 mpg mixed city, country. Exterior finish exceptional. Abandoned run-flat tires. New set upon CPO purchase trash after 17,500. Switched the Michelin Pilot Sport A-S 3, std. replacement size 225/45/17. Less road noise, better handling. Also, so far 15,000 miles later, no road wobbling characteristic of many run-flats. Wobble symptom: (1) car jumping upon hitting routine concrete highway center seams and (2) on well worn country roads, tires tend to cause car to wobble sideways as tires run in routine tire track road surface depressions. Finally (at last, right?), car maintenance cost after warranty rather expensive, parts and labor. Bottom line, too bad BMW abandoned the Z line effective with 2018 model year.

I purchased a mildly used '07 Z4 convertible, at the request of my 90 year old mother. Yes, you are her little boy, even at 6'4" , and over 50. I was now the chauffeur of a woman who's first car was a coach built red Duesenberg convertible. I was amazed, and perplexed, to find no jack or spare tire, unlike my 3 series conv.. Run-flat tires. I was happy to find that for the for the sizeable increase in cost for 2 seats over 4, I would receive free oil changes for life. My mother loved the car, and with a long scarf trailing in the breeze, I looked like the toyboy of a 1920's flapper. Everyone loved the white roadster, with the smart wood dash. Sadly, my mother passed a few years ago, and now the car is 12 years old. People still drool over the styling, and though I live in Florida, I am regularly asked if the car is but a couple of years old. I laugh as the young man at the dealership sends the car back for oil, when he mentions that I have never had any problems in 12 years! Absolutely true. The vehicle looks and drives like day 1. There are so few Z4s on the road, and the styling was way ahead of it's time, people swarm around the car daily. Yes, the beauty cost alot, but she still turns heads, and she's cheap to keep. Even my insurance is low. The day people stop asking to buy her, I might think about a trade-in, but who forgets a car that never needs a dime, stops on one, and never leaves you on the side of the road?

When the worst thing you can say is that the cupholders need to be redesigned, you're on to something. This car is a head-turning, sleek machine with incredible control and power. Great fun to drive.
