I drive around town mostly. So far, of my 15,000 miles, 12,000 are electric. BMW has appointed its vehicle well, and it's a comfortable ride that's also a lot of fun.

have had the PHEV for 18 months.. most of my driving is around town so I average 90MPG.. Amazing.. Plenty of pep and handles very well.. Comfortable and loaded with features.. Only complaint is the rear cross traffic warning.. Poor at best. highly recommend the vehicle UPDATE: Have had my X5 45e for two years.. So far a great vehicle.. I rarely need to put in gas as most of my driving is around town. The fit and finish is excellent.. Comfortable and rides and handles great for a big car... Only complaint was I couldn't get the upgraded audio when I bought.. Put in an after market DSP which was expensive.. Also the rear cross traffic alert does not work well. Overall a great vehicle

Plug-in hybrid is the way to go

We have an EV and a smooth inline six sports car for our family—and it’s the same vehicle! While I’d love to have the range and the charging speed of the updated 50e, I’m happy to have the pre-facelift model for the physical A/C buttons the more classy interior. This is such a beautiful and wonderful family car, I had no idea how I would enjoy driving an EV. But then, when the engine comes on, just that sound and smoothness between the inline six and the transmission, this car is just an engineering masterpiece! Our 45e makes me either chasing the next EV range record by driving it efficiently or creating that big smile in my face when driving this SUV hard around the corners or just pressing your body in the seat when accelerating. Pure luxury, quietness and a masterpiece of engine sound when you want it, this German car is just wunderbar!
