The best SUV
Coming from a Tesla, I thought I was “settling” for a hybrid, as I am averse to pumping gas. I have been pleasantly impressed with every aspect of this vehicle. The main reason for five stars: I purchased this car and drove it home from another state last Thursday going 75 the whole way. I arrived home with a half tank (but averaged 32 mpg.. not bad for a 2200 kg beast) The EV mode is better than I imagined it to be and one charge is more than adequate to get me back and forth to work and do any grocery shopping without using a DROP of gas. From the adjustable hydraulic ride height to the massaging seats.. the build quality is near perfection. Oh, and after all the driving, including a 0-60 @4.8 second launch, I still have 144 miles fuel remaining. Par excellence! Bravo BMW!

Close to perfect
Have had a 550, 3hybrid, 650, 2019 X5 and now 2021 X5. My current x5 is my favorite of them all. Just a really well balanced driving car. The engine and drive train are great. Perfect amount of power and just unbelievably seamless transmission. The Infotainment system needs only minor practice, the hot keys are great, and the touch screen is super intuitive. Just love everything about the car. Highly adjustable with noticable differences in how the car acts based on settings. Liked the mercedes interior a bit better overall, but this car just beats that GLE 53 AMG by a hair overall to me, I Leased a 2019 x5 and loved it. Ended up buying a 2021 coming out of that lease. Never thought I would buy a car that I had just been in for three years via a lease, but liked this car THAT much. Considered the GLE AMG 53, and it was tempting. But the computer chip "market adjustment" completely ruled it out (they were asking more than sticker for their cars). And still just gave the x5 the slight edge anyway. Its been a great. Would strongly recommend to anyone. Lots of room, perfectly balanced performance, perfect amount of tech. Blew the audi Q7 and Q8 away. only real competitor is the MB.

Never going back
Absolutely love my new BMW X5! I went from a Kia Telluride to the X5. Yes, the X5 is smaller but so worth it. Just love the way it drives. It just feels safe, heavy, well made car from the first time I drove it. The only complain I have is due to the Chip shortage from Covid. It doesn't have the wireless charger, Harman Karden stereo that it should have with the packages it has. I am bad about hoping around every couple years buying a new car. After this I don't think I will go back to anything other than BMW.
Amazing car
X45e. Great mileage - typically around 30 miles electric. Rides very comfortably. Seating excellent. Good HUD on windshield. Lots of safety features.

Swaying while driving
We purchased a 2021 X5 x40i M performance package in September 2020. There is intermediate swaying while driving. Does not sway all the time. We have taken it to the dealership numerous times. They say the oversize wheels that are on the M performance package will sway on certain roads. I have two issues with this answer. A vehicle of this caliber should not have issues with road conditions. Secondly I drive the same route numerous times and it does not sway in the same spots if it was the road. Sometimes it does not even sway. This is my wife’s daily driver and she does not feel safe. We have been in contact with the dealership and Bmw North America. The only conclusion they have come up with is to switch out the tires and put smaller 19 inch tires. We have issues with the swap because we paid extra for the performance package to have the look that he has. The other issue is it is a lease and we will be penalized for returning a vehicle with improper will wheels. I would like to see if there are any other people with the same package having the same issues.

Great, Beautiful, powerfull by the price!
I love the 2021 BMW X5! I went from a confortable Chevrolet Suburban to the X5. Yes, the X5 is smaller, but it's worth it. I just love the way it drives, it feels safe, heavy, well done from the first time I drove it, a beautiful design, I think the best front, back, the sides and interior. The only complaint I have is the shortage of chips because of the world situation they have created, and I do not like on this model did not bring the option to deactivate the star / stop bottom. For the rest, the almost perfect car.

Love running on NO GAS!!
I'm in my honeymoon period with the X5 4.5e but we've already driven it 1800 miles! Luxury Seating Pkg is fabulous and I never imagined how great it would be to have massaging seats!! It made our 1400 Mile drive so easy! We rarely even felt fatigued! And having 37 miles of "free driving" every morning with the batteries feels like I'm cheating! My first tank of gas (after getting home) got 44 mpg! My husband has a Tesla but I prefer the flexibility of this HYBRID. Since we already had his wall charger, we bought a simple converter piece (Lectron-Tesla to J1722) so we can both use his wall charger-no electrician needed! Loving the park assist 360° cameras too.

Fault in drive train almost killed me
Car is less that 9000 miles - lost power on a bridge and I was forced to pull over in a dangerous situation. It had to be towed due to a fault in the drive train and all we have been told is two of the 8 batteries left the factory faulty. BMW cannot figure out the issue 4 days later and I will never buy a BMW again.

Great Vehicle But Has Major Flaw
After less than 7 months of ownership I noticed the cabin of the vehicle would begin to smell of vinegar. It was apparent that the odor was coming from the A/C vents. As time passed the problem got worse. The stench can become overwhelming. The issue got so bad that at times I would feel ill as a result of these fumes. My wife brought our 2021 BMW X5 to the dealership to address this issue. They explained that it is a mold issue and that they would make the necessary repairs. The vehicle is under the manufacturer's warranty yet my wife was presented with a bill for services. She explained that we have a warranty and they refused to cover said repairs. They also failed to provide us an estimate in advance for said repairs. If they were going to do non-warranty work on the vehicle I would have expected a written estimate in advance of said repair. Do your research, this is an ongoing issue with multiple models and there is a possible class action lawsuit in the works if not already underway.
Great PHEV
For the first four months of owning this car, I primarily commuted to work 5 miles each way with only a few highway trips and got approximately 150 mpg. In four months, I used 2/3 of the tank. I finally got worried about the gas going stale and purposefully used the ICE. The switch to the ICE is seamless and power and handling IMO are faultless. It doesn't drive like a heavy SUV. My only complaint is the loss of cargo space from the battery pack. Interior is comfortable for a family of four and a dog. Love this car and highly recommend.
