I love this SAV

I love this SAV or SUV or car or whatever you want to call it. The ride is all BMW, great feel, power, steering, braking and handling. Plus you sit up high, have ample storage, and 4 wheel versatility. I compared it against Lexus GX/RX, Infinity FX35/45, Porsche Cayenne, Mercedes ML, Volve XC90, VW Touraeg, Acura MDX, Range Rover LR3 and others. Lots of good choices - but the X5 looked the best and handled the best - which are my top priorities. Add the top safety rating, awesome resale value and dependability and you get the winner.

Had a 2001 Acura MDX prior to this BMW X5, loved the MDX but it was approaching 100,000 miles. Didn't want to wait for redesigned MDX, bought the X5, only good thing I can say is it has a sporty handling with zip. Other than this I am EXTREMELY disappointed in the vehicle. It is poorly built and in the 16 months owned has been into the shop 3X for electrical problem that they can't seem to find what is causing vehicle to go dead. I would never buy another BMW, and when this one gets out of the shop in next day or so, will look to get rid of. Probably go back to MDX, as my son has my old one, 125,000 miles and running while my BMW is broke down with 26,000 miles

When I sold my 2004 Lexus RX330 to buy the BMW X5 as a business vehicle at the end of 2004, I was concerned that it would not drive as smoothly as the Lexus. It is not only smooth, but handles great around town and on the freeways. Excellent power to manuever around any obstacle. The only thing I miss about the Lexus is the 6 disk in- dash CD player and the rear power door. The X5 is an excellent pick in the midrange SUV category.

I just owned this car for 1 week and really like it. It is SUV but feels like a sport sedan. I test drove 2004 X5 and it wasn't as good as 2005. I owned Lexus RX 300 before and it was an excellent car however no comparison with X5.

This car delivers the goods in spades. Comfort, speed, quiet, handling, looks, and fun. You'd swear you were driving an automatic M5 SUV. Estimated MPG 16/21 isn't bad for this big cousin of the M5 beast either. Love it.

The X5 has been outstanding. I've got the sports pkg and performance pkg. The 4.4 engine is a must for this heavy, solid vehicle. Not only is it powerful, but it sounds great. I was looking for an SUV that acts like a sports car and this is it! My wife calls it a motorcycle on 4 wheels because of its performance (I ride sport bikes). I've only owned it for a few weeks and I just drive it around for no reason because it is so fun. I average around 17 mpg driving it hard. It actually gets the same gas mileage as my previous SUV that only had a 3.5L V6. This is my first BMW and I am hooked.

This is my first BMW X5 that we purchased and we absolutely love this car. The handling of the car on the road is just pure fun. The car sticks to the road like clue. Beautiful interior design and the seats are very comfortable. The interior is much better then the MDX we drove before this X5. Fuel economy is not great, but then its an SUV and not a hybrid. If your looking for a ride with some zip and fun, the X5 fits the bill thats for sure. I absolutely love this car!

This is my first X5, own '03 530i currently as well, love the inline 6 engine. Haven't tried other SUV before testing this one, read a lot of reviews from Edmunds and decided to try it, bought it. Overall, very pleased with this X5, handling very well, so fun to drive and feel very safe. Feels little stiff even without sport package.

Love driving the vehicle, looks assume, but it's in the shop too much. Several trips needed to repair same problem. Have had it in shop way more then my plan Jane Chrysler mini-van. It becomes a pain after taking to shop more then twice for same item. Oh, did I mention it's been to the shop too often? German excellence, not so sure, but it looks good.

I love my x5. This is my second one and it is hard to beat. I don't want a large SUV that is hard to park and sounds like a truck. This is as close to a car as you can get and still be safe and higher off the ground. It handles like sports cars I have driven and is still sporty. I will be glad when they change the body to something fresh and new.

Love this SUV - 05 3.0i artic white, truffle brown leather seats, dark wood grain, premium package, cold-weather and climate packages. This SAV handles like a dream. It’s fast and very smooth shifting of the auto trans. Interior noise is almost zero unless you’re doing 90 or above, then you hear the outside mirrors whistle. Driver’s view is great. The full sunroof is awesome but yet quiet when closed. Everything about this BMW is top shelf in my opinion. I am just one very happy owner.

After driving a SUV for 15 years it was a true experience to purchase the X5. The ride is supperb, the gas mileage is acceptable, the handling is outstanding, and from this past winter the control in ice and snow is unbelievable. I tried to put this X5 into a spin or slide and could not make the vehicle loose any control. What a pleasure.

This SUV blew away all of my expectations. It is extremely comfortable, ultra sporty and very practical. I love this vehicle! It works seamlessly with my iPod and Bluetooth cell phone. I conduct business from my vehicle and this SUV allows me to conduct it with style and success. I cruise across the state to meetings and arrive feeling refreshed and ready for business. The safety features on this car will ensure that I arrive unharmed. It takes corners like a sports car and "floats" down the highway. Before you buy any SUV, you should test this one out!! Excellent vehicle!!!

I have truly enjoyed driving my X5. Even though it is almost three years old, I have such a good time I feel like it is brand new. I purchased the extended warranty and I have even more peace of mind driving it, knowng I don't have to consider costly repairs. This is my first BMW, however it will definitely not be my last! Driving this BMW is certaintly the ultimate driving experience. Job well done BMW of USA!

Had my 2002 X5 for 3 years. Never had a mechanic problem with it in the entire time I had it! Most of you must have problems from the new X-Drive. Mine drove like a well oiled machine. No rattles, nothing! Just months into turning her in, I was reended on the highway by a driver who never saw the traffic had come to a full stop. (He was fighting with his wife!) My X5 never moved from the impact which could have easily become a multi-car disaster. In fact, the X5 is so solid I didn't realize how bad it was until I got out to check on the damage. His car was totalled! How much damage did my X5 received? I had a few scratches buffed before turning that baby in.

Power, handling, options galore, comfort and capable. As long as you maintain the heck out of it, they are relatively reliable. I have a 2006 and a 2005 with N62 V8 engines. Love to drive them. Muscle car acceleration with refinement. Handles better than anything North American in an suv or truck. Fuel efficient for the size and power available. Don't buy cheap used X5's unless you know what you're looking at mechanically!

I bought a new BMW X3 2006 this february, and had a very bad crash in which the car was totalled. I only suffered from whiplash for 3 days. If it had not been for the amazing new safety system of this car and the frame, i would not be writing here. So I made my decision that I will only drive BMW cars, which left me again with the decision: should I buy a new X3 again or should I upgrade and buy a used 2005 X5? I went with the latter option, and I am completely in love with the car! So much bigger inside than the X3it makes you feel even safer to drive, and the drive, outstanding - I have the sportspackage. I really love it!

Traded in a Lincoln Navigator for this little sports car. Best car I've ever owned or driven. Makes driving fun, wife & I look for excuses to drive. Amazing the way it handles, accelerates and brakes. Almost feels like it anticipates your next move. Takes corners like it is glued to the road. Love the passing acceleration at all speeds.

The BMW X5 is a great car to drive on the highway, but is completely unsafe to drive in the snow, even with snow tires. The rear wheel drive is too unreliable. The seats in the front of the SUV are comfortable for about 20 minutes, but after that, your back will get sore. The back seats are too stiff, for there is no siding for your back, and no grip.

I liked the Desighn of the 2005 so much I bought 3 of them. I’m so glad I bought them through copart, used and low priced. They are so over the top in engineering and price that it is idiotic to a realistic person. I sold on for profit, traded a guy a big nice motorcycle for one I only paid $1,000 for. I have one that cranks up every time I put a battery in it that I have sitting on my place for over two years here in Texas that I need to get sold and still have another near complete vehicle for parts. if anyone needs parts, from engine to wheels, let me know 9 7 nine, and then 777 four one and last number a five. And remember, BMW making mechanics outta ordinary men for over 100 years.

Great SUV. this is my second one. The 4.4 has great power but a little more pricy than the 3.0. Great feel and handle. The sports package is a little more bumpier but that maybe the feel you desire. If you desire a softer feel you may want to choose the one with out the sports package. Eitherway, Great auto. NO PROBLEMS at all. I drove my old 3.0 leased x5 to the ground with no maintanence for about 2 years. It still felt and functioned as if it was new. Can't beat the looks and the bmw 7 series engine that this has. A MUST HAVE!!!

Not wanting to sacrifice driving experience (I've driven a 1997 BMW 5 series for the past 8 years) but needing to buy a 6,000+ lb. vehicle for my business, I settled on an X5 with the sport suspension. It has been a great vehicle. If you weren't up so high, you'd hardly know that you weren't in a sport sedan. In addition, despite the extra weight, I average a shade less than 19.5 mpg, a mere 1 mpg short of what I was getting from my 528! The panoramic moonroof is excellent as are the sport seats. The only things I dont like are the body molding that runs under the doors - it is a dirt trap and my pant legs seem to always rub it and the lack of a super large cargo area.

The ride is awesome, looks fantastic, very roomy for our teenagers and a third friend ... my wife wants an exact duplicate. Avoid the sport package ... makes for a bumpy ride and restrictive seats! Bluetooth function on the intergrated cellphone is seemless! Extended sunroof, creates a roomy feel in the cabin. IF YOU HAD PREVIOUS CONCERNS ABOUT THE RIDE AND PRICE, I'D ENCOURAGE YOU TO TAKE ANOTHER TEST DRIVE IN A 2005 MODEL!

I can see why this is considered the ultimate driving machine. I LOVE my X5. It Handles, rides, and perfoms wonderfully. The amenities are exactly what and where I would expect them to be. Could use X3 cup holder configs though. GREAT on the long (12 hr) drives. Carries my little dog crate and ALL my stuff! Quick enough to get me out into traffic easily and safely. Fun and comfortable to drive. Compared ALL the competition... Really Glad I bought this one! Just LOVE this car!

Fuel econmy isn't the greatest, but not bad for a truck! I love that I can listen to cds... but cassettes sound just as good with the stereo system! I'm amazed by the X5!

Love the sound of the engine when I accelerate...and it does accelerate. The defroster is a blast furnace though. Wish it had a fan control. The cargo space is not that big...but I was not looking for much more. Really nothing but praise so far. The car really handles well and I love all the options.....although it took me an hour to learn everything. Would definitely recommend it if you are looking for an SUV with sports car feeling.

BMW continues not understanding electronics. Problems with GPS, power locks, rear window washer, etc. BMW still only gives cassette option at dash. No wonder their sales are dropping. Third and last BMW.

I live north of Toronto, Canada, a very icy winter day, I had to take a detour and went down a snowy, icy hill directly into the path of a mercedes turned sideways, the BMW X5, used its threshhold braking to stop the vehicle without sliding miraculously I just drove around the mercedes like nothing happened. I love this SUV!! It looks great too!!

bmw x5 is the best out of all the suvs. If you want a comfortable sav or suv bmw x5 is your choice for safety, technology, comfort, and a fun drive. It might get pricey but it's worth it. Also the fuel economy is not that good but it's ok for a strong car like this. If you want a strong and fun suv BMW x5 is the best choice!
