Reliable, sleek, pocket rocket
I have owned three Z3 models. A 1997 Z3, 2000 M Roadster and I currently have a 2001 M Roadster. I am aware of BMW standing for Break My Wallet however I can attest from owning three of these vehicles that I have never personally experienced that. Yes when repairs or maintenance intervals are required it is expensive but thanks to YouTube I am able to work on pre-maintenance things that save me a considerable amount of money. I purchased my 2001 M in 2016 and have averaged around $500 per year in maintenance costs. The cars engines are tried and true. Handling and power are superb. Only issues I ever had was with plastic hardware breaking. Never had any major mechanical issues. These are outstanding well built sports cars. They are timeless and still turn heads. I personally recommend to anyone who is a car enthusiast to invest in the 2001 or 2002 M Roadster as they only made about 1600 of these cars with the engine and suspension upgrade. These are already collectors items and will just go up in value. They can be had for as low as $17000 all the way up to $35000 or more.

A BMW 240hp Go Kart!
I bought a then-new 1999 M Roadster from BMW of Honolulu. It was instant love at first drive. I've never seen a car straighten out the curves on Oahu's famous Tantalus Drive like this one can. I kept it for 7 years. Traded it in for an X5 4.4. Many years later, feeling acute M Roadster withdrawal, while living in remote Shelton, WA I began searching for another M Roadster, the same Estoril Blue. Found one with 55,000 miles in 2021 in Yakima WA. It originally sold from BMW of Honolulu just six months after my 1999! The zing is still there. I defy anybody to drive this car and NOT have it put a big-ass grin on your face. It looks great. It sounds great. It is the most fun I've ever had in a car.

Smile so hard your face hurts
Bought the M with relatively high mileage (79K) but it is in great shape. Handles as though it is on tracks and accelerates, in all gears. Like it has jets. Long drives can be a bit difficult (I am almost 6'2" and the seats are a slightly bit hard, but if I take a break every 2 hours, no problem. It's a fun car, always noticed (ty, the cops too :( ) but a real treat to drive. I think I like the lines of this model more than the Z4 but would love to have some of the improvements of the newer Zs -- slightly wider interior, more comfy seats, and a fully automatic top. Otherwise, it's a dream.
A Great Toy Car
A fantastic car for people who don't care about auto air, butt cooling fans, or iDrive. Goes back to the days of the 2002 with great performance and great handling.
NICE CAR!
More power than you need, and the handlings excellent!
