There's really nothing bad I can say about this vehicle. Some folks would criticize maintenance costs, but I've cruched the numbers and it is cheaper to factory maintain my 340iX than it is to maintain my Ford Escort Zx2(Remember those?) In my back yard. Matter of fact, if you are the type to enjoy the benefits of preventative maintenance, this is ABSOLUTELY the car for you. Your maintenance schedule is downloaded to the vehicle computer. It will give you upcoming maintenance notifications, and will even schedule it through the dealer. You exact maintenance needs get downloaded off your fob when you go to the service center. My car performs better than factory spec. Not just power and torque, but the fuel economy as well. When the kinetic assist is fully charged we adverage 45mpg. When we engage sport+, we can engage, and dust hellkittens!! They get MAAADDD too! Screaming and smoking while they get absolutely dusted by opulence and decadence. Also, you can find them in stick shift!! What other luxury brand gives you that option!? They stopped putting them in after 2018, but you can still factory order an M3 with a stick shift to this very day! When BMW says they create the Ultimate Driving Machine, they mean it. I'll admit this is my first BMW, but that makes me uniquely qualified to point out that they have absolutely refined every last aspect of the driving experience. The service I have been receiving at the dealer double confirms my loyalty as a BMW customer/driver. 1,000,000% a different dynamic from any American brand I have driven or maintained.

The 2L AWD BMW is powerful fun on mountain roads. Handles wet roads with grace. Transfer is seamless and power is on hand for fun. Great value, build quality is top notch. Interior is very comfortable. We still have the car in 2021 and it is still a dream. No maintenance issues. Reliable everyday.

Disappointed

I owned a 2003 E46 325i convertible and a 2007 e90 328i sedan and they have been some of my favorite cars ever. I was excited to get a used 2016 328xi. Needless to say I was very disappointed. The steering is nowhere near as good as previous generations. It feels so floppy and there is no communication. You put it in sport mode and it feels artificially heavy. BMW has taken the ultimate driving machine and made it not nearly as fun. It’s still a good car, the engine gets you going quickly, the sport seats with thigh extensions are fantastic and it is a great long distance cruiser. It’s just not that special to drive anymore. The infotainment system was average to say the least. My iPhone had struggles to connect many times. Very annoying. It’s a 2016 and didn’t have Apple car play while many cheap cars do. I like the idrive functionality and it works well. Oh, the steering wheel is one of the worse around. Unless you get the m-sport package, your “leather wrapped” steering wheel feels about as nice as a Nissan Sentra. Also, the size of it covers most of the instrument panel and you can’t see everything. In the past two years I have owned a 2015 Audi A3 2.0T, this 2016 BMW 328xi and a 2017 Vw Golf GTI and the BMW was the least favorite of the list. I wanted to love it, but eventually got rid of it for the GTI and I have much more fun in the GTI and the infotainment is much better!
