My Third Audi A6

2022 Audi A6 Premium Plus 4dr Sedan AWD w/55 TFSI (3.0L 6cyl Turbo gas/electric mild hybrid 7AM)

I have owned three Audi A6, 2005, 2015 and 2022. I purchased my 2022 A6 on February 28, 2022. My 2015 A6 was 7 1/2 years old and had 130,000 miles. I thought it was time for a new car. I found the transition in driving my 2015 to a 2022 A6 to be easy with a modest learning curve for all of the new technology. I am extremely pleased with my new A6 Premium Plus 55 (V6) with the Executive Package. I currently have 3,800 miles on the car. The car looks beautiful, exterior is Daytona Gray and the interior is Beige. The engine has 335 hp with torque of 369. The engine is powerful, steering is precise and the brakes are excellent. The transmission can provide a rough start at times. I skipped the sports suspension and stayed with 19” tires. The ride is smooth but firm. I was told the ride suffers when you get the sports suspension with 20” or 21” tires. The mpg on a trip has been unexpectedly fantastic. I have averaged 36 mpg and 37 mpg on three separate trips. A few improvement are needed. Better front cup holders, needs a coin holder and sunglass holder to improve the interior. I considered a BMW 540 Xdrive but felt the A6 has a better exterior and interior appearance. The BMW 5 series does not have a off switch for the Start/Stop function. I loved my 2015 Audi A6 and so far, I love my 2022 A6. I would recommend the new A6.

The Q5 is gone long live the A6

After 92,000 happy miles the 2018 Q5 is gone. With the way cars depreciate it was time to trade or commit to driving it forever. The new A6 with the 3.0 is a much different car. Definitely meant for covering miles in comfort, much less of a multipurpose grocery getter. I drive frequently from close to the Oregon border to San Diego. For this the A6 is far superior to the Q5. gas mileage is between 35-40 with the 48volt mild hybrid, a pleasant improvement over the Q5. Ride is quiet and comfortable, steering is excellent with an almost hydraulic feel. Brakes are powerful but touchy, will take some getting used to as the input gives an an unexpected rapid response. Modulation not a strong point. I had a similar experience with a 2012 A4 so maybe the sedans are set up a bit different. The A4 was a very good car but felt a bit claustrophobic. The A6 completely solves that issue. The display is almost entirely touch screen and I was just getting used to the MMI knob, so now I have fingerprints on the screen. Learning curve is very quick for the touch screen and no more Nav screen above the dash so it finally looks like it was designed into the car instead of an add on. Biggest difficulty is access to the trunk. Small opening but very deep, not nearly as easy to toss things in as the Q5. Interior quality and fit and finish are typical Audi which is very high and durable. Cheap feeling plastic buttons from previous models have been eliminated and this one seems worthy of Audi's self proclaimed one of the best cars made. Based on my past experience with Audi reliability I have high hopes for this one to do the near 100,000 miles with little more than routine maintenance. Did I mention it is fast? It is pretty fast so currently debating the $800 to add the APR stage 1 ECU tune. Almost 500 lbs torque for the tune, so intoxicating and the dealer said it won't impact the Audi warranty as long as no hardware is replaced. I expect eventually I'll give in but only because it should also increase the gas mileage, ha ha. I picked the Premium trim because it had all the features I wanted but lacked the ones I never use such as cooled seats (just feels weird) and adaptive cruise control which I've had on 2 previous cars and found that along with lane correction resulted in a sleepy driver. I prefer a more interactive experience with driving to the automated one.

I’m trying to love my A6

Have had my Audi A6 for 10 months. I’ve only put 2500 km on it. First disappointment is the number of recall notices I have received. Driving the car was fun except for the clunking noises from the rear end which turned out to be the rear jounce bumpers, yes on vehicle that had only 2200 km on it at the time. Now after a completed recall on the fuel tank vent, I did not have accurate fuel readings. So back into the shop, turns out it needs a new fuel tank which is going to take 3 weeks to get here (I hope). I’m at a crossroads with this vehicle. I have very little confidence in its reliability and am seriously considering trading it in for something other than an Audi. This would be sad as I really liked the car.
