2001 Audi a6 4.2 v8 190,000 on it runs like new
Bought the car about 5 months ago. Has 194,000 on it and it runs beautifully. Needed to get new struts and shocks and had to replace a fan belt, exhaust, and tires but besides that and a few minor things the car runs like brand new. No check engine lights no transmission problems, Very fun to drive. Has amazing torque and fast acceleration ( this thing will give you whipneck) and the engines in good condition. I bought it off an older gentleman so it was taken good care of, only 2 owners before me. Interiors beautiful with alot of luxury features. The performance of the vehicle is impressive, with the 300hp it has this thing moves. Very fun to race, has excelent handling and with its quattro technology and stabilization option weather is no issue. Car has no problem doing 70 plus during snow and heavy rain fall. Overall a very nice car. If you don't mind paying a little more for gas and want a reliable very good quality car get a 2001 Audi a6 4.2 quattro

Not so good!
I looked at Audi's for a long time and finally bought it! Almost 2 years later and boy what a mistake!! I was trading in a Jeep so I could get better gas mileage and it's not a big improvement. I get about 18-20mpg & that's 75% highway and rest city. I have had to replace many parts and of course they are EXTREMELY expensive to fix. The car rides nice and looks good but be prepared to spend a lot to fix it when it breaks! For supposedly being a German performance car it doesn't handle that well. 2.7T has good power most of the time but there is a decent delay if you try to accelerate quickly. I won't ever own an Audi or foreign car again, this one ruined it!

Fantastic Vehicle - Highly Recommend
We have been very pleased with this purchase. We test drove a Lexus GS300, BMW 328i, Acura TSX, and Infiniti I30t. The Audi was the best value: great price and awesome set of features. Who would pay 5k more for an inferior vehicle (GS300, 328i). For some reason pre-owned Audis are a great buy in the Atlanta area (well below blue book and Edmund's TMV).
A year after the honeymoon, still sexy!
I came from a 2000 Passat 1.8T. I loved the Passat and had it not been for the Chrome trim and taller greenhouse, I might have gone with the B5.5 model Passat. But the A6 seemed to tie it together better than both the Passat and the A4. The car has got looks, more than enough power for civilized driving, plenty of room in a shiek cabin, and the road manners of a locomotive- meaning it sticks! In good weather it's nice with the roof open and Bose stereo up, but this car even makes bad weather fun to drive in. Comfortable, stable/predictable, solid, etc... I knew this coming into the relationship, and I have not been let down yet.
Used Buyer Beware
After almost 4 years, I will soon be rid of this vehicle, as I will not purchase it at the end of lease. The car has spent more than 7 weeks in the dealer service department (this does not count 1 day trips). The dealer has been quite helpful, but after 3 computers, new coils, injectors, driver window, 3 catalytic convertors, and other assorted bits, I will say goodbye.
