2025 Audi A6 Sportback e-tron

The 2025 Audi A6 E-tron is the carmaker's latest all-electric vehicle, joining the larger and more expensive S E-tron GT as the only electric cars in Audi's fleet. It's similar in size to the outgoing gas-powered A6 midsize luxury sedan, but it opts for a sporty rear hatch instead of a traditional trunk. The A6 E-tron is offered in either single- or dual-motor configurations, with the former making it Audi's first rear-wheel-drive sedan in nearly a century. In a time when SUVs dominate the EV world, it's refreshing to have a sportier sedan alternative.

The A6 E-tron is one of the few electric vehicles with an EPA range estimate north of 350 miles, and one of the fewer still that can reach nearly 400 miles when equipped properly. The Ultra package available for the Premium trim fits the A6 E-tron with smaller wheels and tires, which help it go farther on a charge. Combined with the sedan's super sleek profile and large battery pack, the Ultra is EPA-rated to travel 392 miles before you need to recharge. And with a lofty maximum charging capacity of 270 kW, you'll be back on the road quicker than most EVs. The A6 E-tron appears to be well suited for road trip duty.

The 2025 Audi A6 E-tron faces its familiar foes, even in the fledgling midsize luxury EV sedan class. The similarly priced BMW i5 has only been around for a year, while the more expensive Mercedes-Benz EQE debuted in 2023. In typical fashion for these two automakers, the BMW gains an edge in performance, while the Benz prioritizes luxury. The Audi typically splits the difference, and in this case, the A6 E-tron pulls ahead with considerably more range.

The 2025 Audi A6 Sportback E-tron is a new all-electric sedan/hatchback that is available in three trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige. Within these models, you can choose between single-motor rear-wheel-drive (RWD) or dual-motor all-wheel-drive (Quattro). Both configurations draw power from a battery pack with 94.4 kWh of usable capacity, with the RWD version producing 362 horsepower (increases to 375 hp for brief spurts in launch control mode). The Quattro increases output to 422 hp (temporarily boosting to 456 hp in launch mode).
