2024 Acura ZDX SUV Consumer Reviews

Fun but not for long
I received my 2024 Acura ZDX A-Spec on August 6, of 2024. I love how the car looks, how it drives and handles, and the red interior is super nice and comfortable, but that’s about it. After only 17 days of owning it, the vehicle left me, my wife and 2 month old son stranded in the middle of the road after losing power on a casual drive home from dinner. I had 64% of charge when the incident happened. After hearing a weird noise coming from the rear end of the car, the vehicle started slowing down abruptly and a whole bunch of lights popped up on my dash. The car wouldn’t go on drive or reverse, only neutral or park, so I had to put the car on neutral and push it to the side on the road. I was very upset at what happened. Honda Roadside came and towed the vehicle to the dealership and me and my family had to take an Uber home. After 3 days of the car being at the dealership, the service rep calls me and tells me that the codes were cleared and a system update was performed and they will test drive the car to make sure everything was good before I pick it up. A week passed and I didn’t hear back from the dealership, so I started to wonder what was going on and called them up. When I got a hold of the service rep, I was told that while the Acura tech was on a test drive , the same thing that happened to me, happened to him and they had to tow the car back to the dealership. After it happened to the technician, Acura did a more thorough check on the vehicle and determined that it needed the high voltage battery replaced, and they didn’t have an eta on when the car will be ready since it’s a brand new car and that part is limited. The car only has 1,527 miles and was only driven for 17 days and I’m already dealing with all of this. The car has already been at the dealership for 3 weeks and no signs of when I’ll get it back. I’ve been driving the loaner vehicle longer than I’ve had my ZDX. Fair to say I’ve lost all confidence in this vehicle and honestly don’t even want it anymore. I never write reviews like this, but I’ve owned plenty of car in my life and have never had any issues like this with a brand new vehicle. Hopefully my experience is a rare occurrence, because I wouldn’t want anyone else going through this with a brand new car.

Stay away from the ZDX!!!
Aside from the lack of basic features that other simpler cars have that this car is missing, I’m facing technical problems every other day. It’s been at the dealer for 3 days the week after I got it. I’ve spent hours on the phone with their service department and the sales manager and nothing!!! The screens blank out, the range is off, the heat doesn’t work sometimes and other issues as well. Forget about the phone app working basic commands such as lock/unlock or remote start climate, not to mention showing basic status of the car. It seems like Acura rushed to put an EV out to the market and this premature launch of a mediocre car with a 72k sticker price. Should have gotten a Lyriq!

Remote access and phone connection problems.
Acura Ev app that was supposed to take care of remote connection to the car didn't work 100% of the time. I was getting a message "Unable to connect. Try later " Car infosystem doesn't recognize voice commands. The other party could barely hear me during all phone calls that I attempted to make. I opened a case with Acura customer service more then 2 weeks ago but so far not much help from them. I didn't expect these issues and this kind of customer support when I leased the car worth almost 75k. Shame to Acura.

Much to Like
A Spec AWD: The Good- Very comfortable driving experience. No lack of power at all. As cars become screen oriented, this car maintains manual HVAC, mirrors and glove compartment controls. I've driven Tesla, Rivian, Lucid and others and the ergonomics with manual controls for these functions is superior to adjustments requiring distracting ones self from driving to look at menus to make adjustments. The android based OS makes it very easy to use for Android Phone users. Very spacious. Mine had a great build quality except the hood gap on the drivers side seems large. No squeaks, or rattles. Metallic white finish appears flawless. Lots of storage. Very comfortable real leather seats with heating/ventilation. The less good- Sloppy engineering up front. There is a huge hood and underneath it is a lot of wasted space. Not engineering a frunk was lazy and poor market research. Cold weather range plummets by 1/3 if using all heat options (Pre-heating plugged in highly recommended) but that seems endemic to EVs. The phone app is a mess with intermittent connectivity. Overall appealing interior, but a few hard plastic parts. Interior assembly appears very good. Dismissing this vehicle because it is "GM" and because of the MSRP may be short sighted. It is heavily discounted and although nothing is perfect it is mostly a pleasure to drive. Emporia home charger recommended. All cars now have quirks. This car makes EV live pretty easy.

Nice Car but unreliable!
I've owned the car for two weeks and while it's a very nice car to drive and very comfortable it has problems. First problem happened after I charged the vehicle at a fast charger, got a warning light that I had "Reduced Acceleration Drive with Care". I went to drive the car the next day and the warning light disappeared but while driving to work I got a message that the "Adaptive Cruise was inoperable" and the left and right directional had become extremely loud. That night I put the car on a level two charger and when I drove it the next day the cruise was working again and the directional had returned back to normal. Needless to say for a $70,000 vehicle this has left me very concerned. I would be very wary of purchasing this vehicle.
