Doesn't Live Up To The Looks
Had my 2023 TLX Type S for 2 years. Fun car to drive, would describe it as quick, not fast but quick. It had the performance wheel and tire package and ordered it with just about every accessory that you could add. While the car looked fantastic and didn't have major mechanical issues there were a few things just drove me crazy. The door locks started to fail in year 2 and would make a noise when locked and unlocked until the driver door lock started to fail. The dealer only replaced the failed lock mechanism while the others were still making the noise but not failed yet. No spare tire unless you ordered it, the car should be standard run flats if you don't have a spare, get stranded once and you will understand. Also the summer tires are nice but last about 15K miles and are expensive to replace. the tire size and style is only found on a few exotics so tire prices are pretty bad. Rear seat space is a joke in this car, it is a 4 door sedan and the rear seat space is so limited. Along with that fact is that the front seats are so deep, these could have easily been produced to be slimmer and given a couple extra inches to the rear leg room. The biggest issue was with the vehicle safety systems. The front collision sensor is so sensitive that you would be cruising down the highway and the vehicle would start slowing down a huge distance behind someone before you even think to change lanes even on the lowest distance setting, along with the fact that it would pick up vehicles in other lanes and start to slow down if you were passing them. If a car was turning in front of you it would also pick up that vehicle and slam the brakes thinking you were going to hit it. I don't follow people that close and almost got hit once because the car slammed on the brakes. Safety is one thing, but this is just about ridiculous how sensitive it was. Overall I enjoyed driving the vehicle, it was great to look at, and fun to drive but the technology issues that get in the way of driving the car just ruined the experience.
