You will not find a better value for the money. These cars are so well built & equipped, it's hard to believe that the price is not much higher.

Radio Radio where art thou

Like several other reviews the infotainment system can have a life of its own. My system does the following: 1. Radio will not shut off when I lock the door after exiting. And will stay on for hours. 2. The touch pad for presetting favorites does not show the que for doing this. So no favorites 3. the car has totally shut off and not able to restart without a jump and it is not the battery. There is a bug somewhere in the system that doesn't recognize you want to start the car 4. There is a tech bulletin out about a defect in the front left tie rod. Never heard a word from Acura about this until I took it into the dealer and they know all about it. They put a new bolt and bushing in and the noise goes away. So check that out because if the bolt fell out it might not be a good thing. 5. Something I didn't realize when I bought the car (for my wife) is that the brake pedal has a very long travel to the floor before it engages. This can be dangerous when you are trying to park it in a small space or the garage. You need to be aware that the brakes take a full push down to engage. FYI This is my 4th MDX and I never had these or any issues with the prior ones.

Red interior is going to make a comeback when people see how awesome this car looks w/ red interior on white. I purchased the A Spec and rcd’ slightly less than an MSRP price. (Acura Nation of South Bay) Three other dealerships wanted up to three thousand above MSRP. The car is drop dead gorgeous and I’ll put mine up against MB or BMW. Red/black inside white really sings!

My car started making popping sound after hitting 6000 miles. Took it to service center twice and they can clearly hear the sound but couldn't find the reason for the sound. Frustrated and planning to sell it.

New MDX 2022 a Lot of trouble

This is anew car bough with emotions and lot of waiting , the dealer customer service is pathetic in Bradshaw Acura , Greenville , SC . The car has a hotspot which as per manual operational and does not work with ATT even if the Vin number is accepted , ATT started chanring me but the car could not recognize it , hopping around Acura and ATT to resolve the problem with no resolutions. ater 1 mont got major transmission issue and car broke down middle of road and had to be towed . Waiting for delare to diagnose and suggest next curse of action. Called Acura customer service and as usual they asked to talk to dealer . Feedback provided about dealer without any action or resolution . Pathetic support and a bad decision to go with Honda Acura , There is no touch screen , navigation is pathetic , the touch screen not so user friendly . overall technology is poor . The auto heating and cooling is not so great with comparison to my 2016 highlander

Unintended acceleration

Had a 2019 Acura - bought new, drove just 28k mi, always felt safe, was pretty comfortable for long drives, wife and daughter loved it, until..the day I’ll never forget, where the car auto accelerated and went off all by itself (probably 5k RPM) in a split sec, catapulted it into the wall of the convenience store bringing it partially down Unable to understand what went wrong all of a sudden.. when I was parking the car and half way into the parking spot @ less than 1mph with accelerator pedal fully retracted what caused the engine to suddenly rev and throw the car into the wall??? Not sure what failed, probably throttle sensor, computer misread something or something else. The wall was just 7 feet ahead, the impact was such the car was totaled. Long story short, I had booked my 2022 acura just 30 days ago, but now with this unpleasant episode I have no confidence in Acuras anymore..what’s the guarantee this problem doesn’t exist in the new cars???? reached out to acura corp, they have been very unresponsive. Feels terrible. Sorry Acura you guys have never fixed the problems of unintended acceleration/ deceleration. There are several complaints online and you guys have NOT acted on them dealing with them probably as one of case. This issue is serious and can kill people, pedestrians or yourself if you crash into a vehicle in front of you!!

2022 MDX TYPE S

I’ve been driving my new MDX type S and realize how it’s not practical. No spare tire, jack or tire iron. If you have a blow out or hit a pot hole and damage a wheel or tire your stranded. I guess a road-trip is ruled out with this car. I’ve been driving in the city and I get 8.4 MPG. The passenger cannot control the infotainment system because this system is not passenger friendly. Every other car in this segment has an easy infotainment system to use with a touchscreen which the MDX doesn’t have. Overalls the car looks nice but is not practical. If you buy the car be prepared to have buyers remorse.

Miles per gallon embarrassingly bad

Initially, I fell in love with this car. However, after driving it for a few weeks I quickly realized a troubling trend. My mpg was sitting at 13.4. I did everything to get it to go up--changed it to the the most efficient setting, didn't press on the accelerator to hard, etc. However, nothing is working. I even took a long trip, and got it up to 20 mpg, but it got beat by my friend's car which was a gas gunsling 475hp (he got 22mpg). Anyways, still stuck with the VERY low mpg. Be careful out there. If they can fix this, the car is great drive. Other cons: Infotainment touch pad is glitchy and aggravating. Wireless pad--don't bother using it, as it barely charges.

I spent several weeks researching vehicles from Acura to Toyota. The day finally came when it just came down to a test drive or two or three. I thought I had found my dream when I finished researching and the Acura MDX SHAWD Advanced was my top contender. The Mazda CX-9 had made it to my short list after reading reviews & comparing features. I honestly didn’t think the Mazda was going to be the winner of my affection. Heading to the Mazda dealership first was just a matter of proximity with a tinge of skepticism and thoughts of quickly eliminating my options until I had a winner. Didn’t expect to love it but I did. Moving right along, a lunch break, and then I headed to the Acura dealer. I was surprised to see they actually had an MDX on the lot because they are selling like wildfire around here. Beautiful luxury SUV! Noticed the slightly larger cargo area behind the 3rd row but not an extra 15k worth of space. Ok, maybe the test drive will sell the car. Nope! Kinda sluggish gas pedal response despite having more horsepower. Beautiful interior but again, not 15k worth. The MDX was black and had been sitting in the sun with the temperature about 61 degrees. The salesman was telling me all about the features as he struggled to get the AC to blow cooler air…me thinking it was almost time to roll down the windows and head back to the dealership. He got it working and we proceeded. Several features into his speech we came to another snag. He had opened the sunroof and closed it but couldn’t get the sunshade to close all the way. Sorry, but being impressed with the Mazda CX-9 features, knowing that they work, and the difference in the engine response had me immediately calling the Mazda dealership back. Plus I’m saving money!! Mazda wins!

Previous generation hit A’s on all features including design and met all my expectations. Redesigned 2022 with overly long flat hood looks like a duckbilled platypus. The hood is out of scale with rest of body. Stop/start feature is not smooth and affects steering wheel. Louder exhaust note on highway acceleration does not match performance. Dislike push button gear selector, much preferred gear shift which was easy to slide into neutral at red lights and extra length does not match handling of previous model.

Have had the vehicle for 5k miles and have had no issues. If your looking for a 3rd row suv that can combine luxury , utility, sporty handling and long term reliability you can’t beat this. With the standard non turbo v6 (proven reliability)and luxury interior quality, technology ,and japanese made you have a vehicle that can entertain you as a driver, carry the family safely and throughout many years of service provide incredible reliability. The mdx is a hard to beat package of performance, handling , utility, luxury and long term reliability in an incredible value package. Google this, There are 700k mileage Acura MDX and plenty of 300k mileage and above mdx”s on the road, try seeing that with german made suvs or the lesser brand quality types of suvs in the segment and you’ll be even more impressed with this vehicles value proposition if you enjoy keeping vehicles for 5-10 years or even more.

Need to correct the a/c in the 3 row seat,,when my kid are there, the a/c doesn't reach the back there's no a/c, and it gets super hot back there. The a/c vents should be on the ceiling. It would be a lot better. The tail light in the inside part are like a knife, they ready cut wife and one of my kid. Need to correct that.

This pretty much a luxury vehicle with a bit of performance thrown in, with the Type S Advance trim. The interior feels pretty high quality, the seats are as comfortable as pretty much anything we've ever owned, including several higher end European performance suvs, and the massage function is better than anything we've had in any vehicle. The top end Els audio really is incredible, better than the Meridian and burmester high-end systems in our other vehicles, and the whole interior experience is very high-end. The front two rows are very comfortable for 6'2, adults, and the third row can easily accommodate 5' 8 teenagers or adults. The car is not a rocket ship but it's sufficiently fast. The adjustable suspension truly does cover a wide range from Comfort to sport plus, you can have a nice soft ride for cruising, or dial it in for a very firm and responsive drive in sport plus mode when you want to hit the twisties. The MDX Type s really covers both ends of the spectrum well It's a pretty quiet car, although you do hear a faint audible high-pitched frequency with the audio system off, coming off the throttle speeds above 35 mph if you're listening for it. Now here's the 'some issues' part. We've had multiple problems with the functionality of the infotainment system. I'm not specifically talking about the touchpad, because we got used to that within a couple of days and it doesn't bother us at all, although I would still prefer touch screen access as well. We've also had, as someone else commented, moisture throughout the car. It turns out we had a issue with some of the drains for the sunroof, which also shorted out the infotainment system necessitating a week plus long stay for service and replacement. We were noticing the rear carpet and battery cover were constantly wet or had small pools of water, when we took the car in for the infotainment system we discovered it was the drain issue causing all these problems. Apparently this has happened to several other owners as well. And the only other thing I can criticize is the air conditioning. The climate controls are super easy to use, and I'm glad there are direct buttons for them, but with the black interior, it takes forever for the interior to cool down, and the air blowing out of the events seemed noticeably cooler in the loaner car we had. And lastly the vented seats work very poorly ( yes, this is a first world problem). Even on the highest setting there is low air flow, combined with the not so cool air the system pumps out even at it's called the setting. We've had 12 cars with vented / air conditioned seats, and these are by far the worst performing of all of them. But on a typical day you get in the car start it up, and take a corner, or maybe even on some days you're just stuck in traffic, and you generally just tend to smile while you're in it. I also like that the car is somewhat discreet in its appearance, the only major differences being the subtle badging, the exhaust outlets, and the calipers. This would easily be a five-star rating had we not had multiple infotainment issues the first 15 months of ownership.

This large suv drives like a nimble sports car with its SH-AWD system. The interior is roomy and comfortable on long trips. While it takes awhile to adjust to this infotainment non-touchscreen system, I found it intuitive and comfortable to use. For me, the V6 engine, 10 speed transmission combination provides ample acceleration and fun to drive.

I’m leasing my 2022 MDX and have to say surprisingly it has some issues. Out of lane indicator come on when I’m clearly in the lane, it has a very loud revving noise when exhilarating, the infotainment system is a dangerous distraction. Recently the last few times I filled my gas tank up it doesn’t fill up all the way. This is very strange and sounds like a fuel cap or exhaust system issue. This vehicle is just over 23k miles and shouldn’t be having this problem. I maintain it regularly and never had any problems til now. Prior to this car I had a 2014 RDX (bought it brand new) and had it til I mistakenly traded for the 2022 MDX. The RDX never had any issue.

I bought the '16 MDX tech RES/AWatch as CPO with 2.5 years and 26,00 miles on its belt. Last year's used car market price was crazy and luckily I have something to trade in and I think I got a good price. After 3.5 years of owning, added 25,000 miles, the '16 has residual (trade-in) price dropped by $5k only. Major repair/maintenance were front rotors and brake pads replacement and the normal oil change sched. I am in the market for a brand new MDX so when local dealership agreed the '22 at MSRP and my trade in at $26K and another $1,000 less of MSRP for Acura loyalty, we had a deal. So I got the 2022 MDX in the winter of '22, pretty excited because of how much different it is from the '16. It got the updated big time... finally. The engine I believe is the same, updated transmission, pano roof. I miss the chrome door handle of '16 but if they kept it it look like too much chrome on the side of the '22. I noticed the driving is a bit slower, not sure because it is heavier? (That sunroof). I love the leather, the removeable center 2nd row seat, the accent lighting, One downside is that '22 still don't have a downhill descent assist. I think the Honda Pilot has one and not sure why Acura didnt have it. I tried the "S" mode and manually shifting to the lowest gear when on a downhill and slow speed but it automatically shft to 2nd and higher. I dont want to ride on the brake but I am forced into. its nowhere closer to real low gear manual transmission.

Disappointed By Acura Corporate Support

As others have mentioned, the AC is weak, gas mileage is only average, power is average at best and the interior material quality has been disappointing. The real problem is Acura’s lack of support for existing owners when it comes to repair parts after an accident. It took 5+ months to get parts to repair the front after a deer strike. One month after the car was finally returned from the shop, an idiot ran into the rear end at a stop light putting the MDX back in the shop for more than a month so far waiting for $7,000 of parts. I realize they would prefer to use all available parts to build cars for new customers, but I for one will not be a repeat buyer because of their disregard for existing ones.

I have only owned Honda/Acura cars in the past. I currently own a 2022 MDX tech package and I really enjoy my car. It is very responsive and comfortable to drive. I get really good gas mileage; I only get her premium Chevron gasoline (I always have put premium gasoline in all my cars) There is no noise in the cabin and the engine is very smooth and quiet. The Sport mode is so fun I feel I am driving a V6 Accord Coupe. The materials throughout the car are very good and look elevated. I have a lot of cup holders and features I enjoy. The infotainment is very responsive and easy to use. The space is great and still feels very quick which I appreciate. I love my car in all aspects and highly recommend it.

Bought it new in 2022. My only complaints are with the engine power on major climbs and the terrible track pad interface. Other than those, the mileage is fine, about 21 on the HWY, the ride and handling are great. I am thinking we would have been better off with the Type S, for the power going up the mountain passes.

So far so good, hasn’t given an issue. Really beautiful Car, but 3rd row seats are mostly for kids/teenagers or small adults, anyone above 5 ft 9 will be cramped. Other than that, it’s a beautiful car.
