Don't let the price tag scare you. This sounds to me like a faulty sensor -- one of the many sensors that the car's computer uses to run everything. Unfortunately, the reaction of the computer is to shut down when it gets a "bad" reading, leaving your car crippled. Turning everything off and on again resets the computer, and you're okay -- unless the faulty sensor again triggers that reaction. Take ... Read More

For many of us we are so invested in our auto-based lifestyle it's like we'll give up our cars when they pry the steering wheel from our cold, dead fingers. One of my husband's college roommates did buy a 2002 Prius (on his own - he didn't know we had one at the time he placed his order). But that doesn't fill out the set. A family ... Read More

No option yet for leather from Toyota. Ask your dealer for their preferred aftermarket shop, or see if there's a ClassicSoftTrim near you. Some owners of the 2001-2003 classic Prius have had leather installed on their Prius. The side air bags on the 2002-2003 Prius were located in the front seats, so care had to be taken to replace the seat covers with leather (needs special break-away fabric/threads to allow the ... To fit the Toyota GPS/Nav parts to the 2001 to make the NAV-related dash buttons work, assuming new parts and not stripped from a Hawaiian or a 2002-2003 NAV-equipped Prius (say from a junkyard), it's about $4000 in new parts alone.
