You might find some more info online using one of the links in the Online Repair Manuals. Try your local reference librarian to see if you can get access to Alldata or the EBSCO one. I don't know the build date of my Quest off-hand; maybe that's the difference in the parts though since the first one refers to a 9/1998 and up model? Steve, visiting host
Hello guys... I have a 99 Mercury Villager, and I read hundreds of posts about the knock sensor codes, but still could not get an answer to my question. Basically, my check engine light is on and I am getting error codes for a bad knock sebsor. The van is fine when its started, but within minutes you can feel intermittent puffs of exhaust at the tail pipe. I verified that ... Read More
This forum has been very helpful, we were originally looking at a Kia, then got swayed to the quest and this forum has done a lot to ease my mind. We currently have a 1998 Mercury Villager (Quest clone) with 90K miles and are pretty happy, although it has had its share of small issues it has been a good car. We are now looking for a 06 sexy red 3.5S ... Read More

Fortunately he was uninjured. He has no idea what happened, except when you look under the rear passenger side of the van, the suspension is broken. Someone has told him about "catastrophic suspension failure". I wondered ... Read More
Bought 1998 Ford Mercury Villager in November 2002, after two weeks test driving it. Had 65,130 miles and no serious problems listed on carfax. Drove great until 8 months later, August 6, 2003. The transmission was slipping. We had bought an extended 24/24 bumper to bumper warranty from DaimlerChrysler so, only had to plucked down our $100 deductable to keep it fixed and let out a big sigh of relief. Speed ... Read More
Keegee, I'm no lawyer, but that's like a breech of contract. How could you have ever known what the previous owner had done with the vehicle. Is this not the reason we purchase an extended warranty? Again, I might be out of line, becuase I don't have a law degree but this needs to be brought to buyers attention. The reason I purchase an extended warranty is becuase in the first ... Read More
Hello to all. I am new here so I may be kind of long-winded my first go-round. Basically I am at my wits end with Ford. I purchased a 1998 Mercury Villager a little over a year ago,no problems up until two months ago. I was driving down the road on cruise and it was like something suddenly broke inside and it started skipping and check engine light blinking. So I ... Read More
