2024 Volvo XC60 Consumer Reviews
I seem to have a lemon right off the lot
I made my first Volvo purchase of an XC60 on April 21st and my buying experience was great. I worked with a Volvo dealership near where I live and I really appreciated the transparency of the purchase process. Within 24 hours of taking delivery of my new car, the check engine light came on and my car has spent most of the days I have owned it back with the dealership. They have been great in terms of giving us a loaner, but at this point, we are 25 days into ownership, and our car has been in the shop for 14 of them, with the only day we didn't have issues being the evening we drove it off the lot. Our Volvo Dealership has been a good advocate, but there doesn't seem to be an end in sight other than maybe we hit 30 days out-of-service, or one more unsuccessful repair attempt and it could be declared a lemon. Every manufacturer produces lemons, let's be honest with ourselves about that. But as a first time Volvo owner, this is not what I had hoped for from a world-renowned brand. Read reviews and do your homework. More issues have emerged as this process has played out, most of them electrical issues and infotainment related. But there is also a concerning issue with the car not engaging in park consistently when the parking button is pressed. The most troubling thing is that the Factory Trained Specialist cannot seem to resolve the root issue. I will follow up this review with the outcome, so customers know how Volvo deals with a vehicle that has seemingly unresolvable issues right off the lot. Still optimistic that they will make it right sooner than later.
Not reliable!!
I am writing this in disbelief currently. My wife and I purchased this vehicle because we have a little baby on the way. We decided to step up a class in vehicle for safety and reliability features. We have CLEARLY made the wrong decision. The week after driving it off the lot, there was an issue with the "hybrid" battery and we had to take it back to the dealership. They said they couldn't find any issues and that they just gave it a little charge. "That should fix the issue". Fast forward 2 months to Christmas eve - We start the car in the morning because it was a little cold. We left it running for about 10 minutes or so before getting into it. When we started backing up an alert on the dash popped up in red stating "12V Battery Critical Charging Fault STOP SAFELY". We were unable to drive the car from there and it would no longer start. The tow driver couldn't get the car started either and on top of that they couldn't even get it into neutral to get it on the tow truck. 6 hours of our Christmas Eve was spent having our 3-month-old car towed back to the garage. I just wish Volvo was more upfront with the issues and did not give the owners the run around. Someone at the dealership said this happens to some of the cars on the lots and the "fix" is to leave them running for 5 hours?!? Are you kidding me? No one has time for that. Sounds like a recall to me if they cant figure it out. As of today, we still have a loaner and there is no answer, fix for the issue. If these issues continue, I will be forced to file a complaint with the BBB and see what Volvo can do for me. I cant have my wife and child on the side of the road because the car is having some issues. That just isn't safe by any stretch of the imagination.

Headache
I took it in 7 times for a severe engine vibration that would shake the cabin.

Trade it in!
We bought a Volvo XC60 B5 Plus Dark, and not even 800 miles later the engine overheated on the side of the interstate. Volvo was great about fixing it that time. We got the car back and it was fine, until about 2200 miles and the exact same thing happened. Only this time the engine seized. We have been waiting two months to get our car back!!!
