Speaking as an engineer, I think this car has some very nice features: the build material is exceptional with leather seats and leather steering wheel, the handling is very smooth. I would take this car on a long distance trip. It's overpowered, so I wish that V60 had traded off some horsepower for fuel economy. But I think that's just a sign of the times where the parent apparently needs to go from zero to sixty in less than five seconds to bring the kids to soccer practice. My biggest complaints about the car are all the silly knobs, not to mention the rather laughable touch screen. The biggest drawback with this vehicle is the inadequate temperature control. Most modern cars allow you to set a temp and the car will adjust the heat level and fan speed using a physical knob. But this car forces you to operate through the touch screen and even then it lacks the ability to auto control the fan speed. My Prius C has a more sophisticated HVAC control system than this! This is a nuisance; it's cumbersome and it's unsafe. The starter knob is why I put the review title "Quirky". It's a momentary swivel switch which is not appropriate for a combination ignition and starting switch. Most traditional cars use a rotary switch with positions for accessory, ignition on, then a momentary swivel for starting. This way, the driver knows exactly the state of the engine. But the V60 has substituted this switch with a single momentary swivel, so now it's difficult to tell the state of the vehicle: is it running? accessory only? ignition on? Not only does it fail to add functionality, but it actually removes functionality and control from the driver. This violates basic principles of a good design: it should always improve driver ability to control the vehicle, not remove critical functionality. To complement this inferior ignition switch, the V60 has an even weirder roller knob to select between three performance options. This is in the wrong place (you can spill things and get debris in there, it's seldomly used, so put something useful in it's place) and awkward to use (it's a strange roller knob). Also, it resets to the default mode at each startup, thereby making even more useless. Besides, all it does it change the shifting RPM, but you already have that feature in the gear shifter. Other issues: there is no dipstick, so for anyone who likes to keep a close watch on the engine, this car is not for you. The one thing the touch screen could have been used for is to monitor and customize all engine measurements: temp., pressure, etc. It has this info in the computer anyway, why not display it? All this nonsense taken together is sort of like walking through a desert and when you finally reach the oasis, you decide you didn't want a drink of water after all. The V60 has all the ingredients: computer module, sensors, and display unit: Why not take that final step and allow the driver to see the data?

This is the second Volvo V60 we one. The first V60 we replaced after the car accident. It saves our lives. New V60 has a lot of new options. Car handles the road very well(responsive). We have this car for a less than a month.

Nothing is perfect so I almost never rate anything perfect, but this car comes close. After owning 2 Mercedes wagons this one is my wife's favorite. It is not a luxury car like Mercedes, but it handles like a Mercedes AMG wagon and has a lot of good modern convenience features built in. The infomation system is much better than we were used to, being somewhat like a cell phone to navigate through the screens to find what you want. We like the Google navigation system which is much better than the one offered on our computer. It also has Google nest built in so you can get quick answers to a lot of questions. Their app is good for checking on charging and locking/unlocking and keeping track of parked location (if stolen) and mpg. Unless we go on a longer trip, we rarely need to put any gas in the car as within the Bay Area we can use it locally or drive to Marin or the East Bay and back with EV miles to spare. A big con which I have never seen mentioned is that Volvo prides itself on safety, yet they supply the car with no option for run-flat tires, a spare or a doughnut. Modern tires tend to disintegrate, especially when going 70 mph on the freeway, so the repair kit which comes with the car is useless. So if you are driving out of town at night in unfamiliar territory, you are out of luck.....big time. Volvo's concierge service or AAA will take you to a motel, you are stuck for probably 4 new tires (AWD and tires are uncommon size) and all the roadside risk and inconvenience you might encounter. Volvo Executive Office gave no meaningful reply to this concern. The only other annoyance worth mentioning is that there is limited interior space, with shallow side pockets not limited by the Recharge battery while the center console seems to be limited by the battery. An analog clock would be nice also, even if digital. Reliability has not been mentioned because it is a recently purchased car. So far no problems. Update: We have had the car over 15 months now and no problems at all driving regularly in SF and the Bay Area. Got a spare with rim to throw in the back if we go very far out of town. Volvo SF service center was friendly and easy to work with. Only other disappointment is that the hands free rear door (kick) opener does not work well. Had the same in a much older Mercedes wagon and it was easy and reliable to use. Google maps for the nav system works very well, much better than when I use I use it on a desktop. Volvo helped me find an app which allows me to play my own MP3 music through the radio. Infotainment system is somewhat complicated, but intuitive once you remember where to look for the control of the many different features, including multiple driving modes for the car. Yes, there is a Polestar mode and it does work, but where in the Bay Area does 0-60 in 4 seconds make sense?

Has all the bells and whistles but the design on the front is too clunky looking to me. I do like the huge moon roof on the Inscription model but is too expensive for me. Wish The momentum had a huge moonroof..that might have changed my mind. The older V60's are nicer, more streamlined and so I will wait for one of those. Less expensive too!
