Used 2002 Volkswagen Passat Consumer Reviews
Luxo car in disguise (steal of year)
The 2002 VW Passat, with 1.8T engine and manual tranny is a delight. Solid feel, responsive engine, smooth, creamy. I considered the Jetta, but backseat was too small. The new Audi A4, great car, but it felt claustrophobic. This car is a luxurious car in disguise. It has Audi A4 underpinnings, and it feels it. It is beautiful, gets looks (i had a couple in a late model 5 series point in stare in traffic the other day), and at $22600 including Luxury Package, quite the deal. My dealer has been taking care of me. Had some initial quality problems, but they are trying hard to please. Buying xperience was top rate, I ordered the car and it arrived two months later.
If you don't mind trips to the dealer...
Design complaints: - 1.8T engine valve tick/shudder for 1 minute after cold start - sunvisors block no sun! - after 1000 miles, fabric was worn off of door armrest Problems experienced: - check engine light at 1500 miles, now again at 2500 miles - driver's seat loose and could not fix - dashboard rattles and creaks ALL THE TIME (this is what's most irritating) - trip computer now resets itself when car turned off - lots of new driveline vibration when in Drive

Best Car for the money
If you are looking for a sedan look no further, this is by far the best sedan you can buy for the money. Just a word of advise, if you are in the Northeastern Ohio area, check out Dave Walter VW in Akron. This is the best VW dealer in the area. I have never had such a pleasant car buying experience.
GREAT CAR
Great Car! I've had this for a year and enjoying the car and the drive .. will recommend.. go for it...
THIS IS A 4?
When we first test drove this vehicle, i couldn't believe it was a four cylinder. After that, I couldn,t justify the extra $2300 for the six. The car has been fantastic. Why would anyone pay all the extra money for the Audi? The build quality is absolutely first-rate; it gives my CLK cause for alarm. ( just kidding MB )
