Used 2002 Volkswagen Passat Consumer Reviews
Love the car!!/ Leary of the reliability
I love everything about my 2001.5 V6, manual! Its looks, the solid feel, the blue lights, even the rear lights. One of my daytime running lights has burned out after 10 months. Seems waaay too early for that. One concern is that the pillar gets in the way when I'm try to see, change lanes on the front, right side. Drove a Celica for 13 years. I just hope I can come close to this on my Paasat.
My car.
I'm 6'4 tall and this car is perfect for person of my height or even taller. Next time I might go for stranger engine V-6 or W-8, but otherwise no complaints.

One Year Review of 2002 VW Passat
My Passat has run problem free for 11 months and 8600 miles. Ride is smooth and quite on the highway. Highway mileage very good. Averaged 33.8 MPG on a recent 600 mile round trip. Turbo is smooth on the highway a bit of turbo lag in city driving. Overall quality of vehicle is excellent. My only complaint is the comfort of the seats. I previously owned a 1997 Passat GLX with leather seating and those seats fit like a glove. My 2002 has the leather seating option but the seats are not very comfortable on long trips. The seat bottoms seam short and the 2002 lacks one adjustment in seat bottom that was present in the 1997.
A true winner
Everything good you read about the Passat is true, and then some. Fantastic styling, performance, reliability, and service. Buy one!
Luv my Passat!
This is the most comfortable car I've owned yet! I commute between Huntsville, AL and Atlanta, GA twice weekly. My Passat has the tiptronic (it's both an automatic and a stick shift) and it provides a TRULY ENJOYABLE DRIVING EXPERIENCE! I would strongly encourage anyone who's looking for a great car to look at the Passat. It has more room in the back seat than it's luxury equivalent, the Audi A4. It's a great soccer car too!
