2002 Volkswagen Jetta GLS VR6 4dr Wagon

Typical Jetta problems: car was routinely in shop. Either for annoying exterior hardware/mechanical issues (driver window continually fell off track) or for major electrical issues. Radio stopped working which we then noticed the horn didn't work. We were told that to fix the radio we needed to replace the steering wheel. And this would not ensure the radio would work after this. Engine sputtered and shuddered one day on a road trip which required an emergency stop at a garage to get O2 sensor replaced. Bottom line: VW does not stand by their own cars. They would just simply respond as if this is to be expected from a VW. They suggested we buy a new one.

Awesome Car! I've only had this car three weeks and have managed to rake 1500 miles on it. If you're looking to get into the Audi or BMW feel, then buy it today. Everything about this car is refined and quite simply "Puurrfect", almost. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the cup holders — if you can get past that then it's smooth sailing. My advise, go test drive this car...it's incred

Should you get a Jetta or a Civic?

I was beginnig to think that I had made a mistake by buying this car until I saw my neighbor's Civic. She had many more problems than I did... and more serious ones. I know what you're thinking: He's not objective because he owns a Jetta. My answer to this is: I moved to a new country and again I was faced with the decision of which car to buy. After lots of research through many sources I arrived at the same conclusion: Get the Jetta before the Civic. It may be a little more expensive but you get a whole lot for that small difference.

This is a very fun car to drive - we bought prior to birth of 1st child and expected to have it for 10 yrs. Now expecting 2nd child we realize two car seats will not fit the very shallow back seat. I have not experienced many of the mechanical/interior issues as other posters.
