Love the Mileage
Fantastic mileage with the diesel engine!!! Best in class. Problems: 1. The coolant sensor died @ 35000 miles & that is not covered by the warranty. 2. Clear coat on the hood is poor and is easily eaten away by dead bugs. 3. Passenger side door lock actuator does not always open all the way. Have been waiting for a replacement for 6 months.
VERY BAD EXPERIENCE
I raved about my Volkwagen Jetta TDI for the first 50,000 miles, but have been very disappointed since then. The list of repairs is numbing: glow plug relay, glow plug, air flow sensor, passenger window motor, and dash lights. All of these problems have cropped up in the last 20,000 miles. Ready to push it off a cliff.
The Perfect Car
This car, I dont know where to start, I have enjoyed this car! On a scale from one to ten (ten best) I would rate it a 10.1! I have a 2000 GLS TDI 5-spd, when it comes time to trade (if I ever do) it will definitely be another Jetta! What can I say 50MPG cant beat it! It has 17,139 miles and not a single problem!
Jetta Review
Vehicle is fun to drive and performs well. The downside is the higher dollar maintenance cost.
mechanics needed
I purchased my Jetta TDI Sedan brand new, the car pulled to the right severely, after months of letter writing phone calls, and endless visits to the servise dept, VW gave me another car. After 5,000 miles in the new car the steering wheel shakes severely. I have made numerous visits to the dealer with absolutely no help. VW of America was worse, I would never ever own another Volkswagen.
