A Better Car Than Most Think!
Awesome car! I love this car so much that I am thinking about keeping it when VW comes out with the "Re-Buy Program" for scamming its diesel customers. What idiots! But what a car they made. Perfect for commuting in the SF Bay Area.

2012 VW Golf TDI
My previous car was a 2008 civic EXL. It was economical, dependable transportation, strictly point A to point B. I wanted to move up to something more competent, more fun to drive. I researched all the cars in the compact class. I compared power, performance and economy. Although all had something to offer, I felt the Golf TDI was a step ahead. The blend of performance, economy and build quality is unmatched in this segment. The diesel has a lot of torque and a broad power range, the DSG transmission blends perfectly, acceleration and passing are a breeze. The ride is solid, and handling is precise. Road noise is minimal, it has the feel of a much more expensive car. Sound system is awesome.
Thoroughly Impressed
I bought my 2012 VW Golf TDI in 2015. I got an average of 39 mpg. The interior is amazing. Mine has a 6 speed manual and I absolutely love my car. It is everything I wanted and expected. I love this car. Wouldn't trade it for anything.
A proper long term review
I was in the market for an economical daily driver and i ended up with a TDI Golf. It currently has 160,000 and it still feels nearly as refined as my BMW 335i weekend toy. Never had major mechanical problems. It starts fine at -20C, colder than that and it will have difficulty but that's given since its a diesel. The range is phenomenal. I was in the market for a Toyota given their reputation for reliability but the interior and performance of this Golf was far better, while still being a reliable car. The interior is no BMW but at its price point its top notch, excellent fit and finish. Mine has the DSG transmission and its great, it seamlessly changes gear at the right time. Since its my first ever diesel car i was expecting it to be rough, slow, and loud but its the complete opposite. Once up to temperature the engine runs very smoothly, the acceleration is decent and almost similar to a GTI i once owned, cabin noise is extremely low. Speaking of my GTI, the one i owned was a complete lemon and this TDI made me forgive Volkswagen.

Best car ever
Bought used one year ago. I love this car. I keep it sealed and waxed. People think it’s a new car. The interior is beautifully designed; consistent, functional, beautiful. At night everything is red and white lights. It’s old school and also modern in a retro way. Did you see the VW inside the headlights? They look space-age. My car gets great mpg like low to mid 40s on highway and some city combined. Love the handling and all features. I hope it’s the last car I ever own. It’s a dying breed. Best in class. Fahrvergnügen!..all over again.
Bought this 5 cylinder, 5 speed stick 2 dr model after losing my ‘94 Civic VX to Superstorm Sandy. My 4th VW. Always changed oil at 5000 mi and took care of minor—lately more major—repairs as they occurred, so performance was usually good and reliable. Except the A/C which always disappointed and in the last year, the headliner incredibly droops. I’d look at another one now but VW’s recent history is somewhat flawed after the diesel debacle and their overly-heavy investment in the all-electric market (Whose idea was it to make the bus a plug-in!), plus prices are out of control.

Excellent car
I bought my Golf almost 4 years ago, drove in Germany in the 90's a Golf too. I am really impressed with this 2.5l version and this 6 speed automatic transmission. So much power and driving is so much fun. Now 118000 miles and still go like a bought it.

Tempted To Buy Another
Such a fun car to drive and a real value. Sport mode , tiptronics are a couple of my favorite features. I have driven through intense rainy weather and serious flooding and the Golf is sure footed and relatively comfortable. Cargo is reasonable, I can fit my bicycle back after taking off the front tires, works fine for regular supermarket runs. No mechanical issues after 4 years and 60k. The only thing I would improve is the seat height for tall drivers- I have to lean to the side to see some headlights. Not great visibility on a road trip , can't see much over all the trucks and SUV's.

Simply Awesome!
This Golf TDI is a lot of fun to drive and fits like a glove. The torque is surprisingly strong and peppy. I love the looks of this car inside and out. Who needs an ugly prius when VW offers this Golf with 45 MPG. This is the fourth VW I have purchased (I have previously owned a Jetta TDI, a Passat, and a CC) and this one just might be my favorite out of the four. I highly recommend this car.
