UPDATE 6/2/26
Nearing 50,000 miles. Total MPG 46 for 50,000 miles. Powerful. Smooth. Comfortable. But starting to get concerned about repair replacement cost. Might be time to move on. Once warranty expires repairs are exorbitant. UPDATE: Good: Getting 46 mpg with 60 % city 40% highway driving. Have multi function seats with massage which is heavenly. Great power. Air suspension is … smooooth! Seats ultra comfortable. NOT SO GOOD: Two expensive repairs 1) antenna on top developed a leak which cost $4,000 to fix (caused nav failure)
2) AC compressor literally blew up sending metal shards everywhere which cost another $4,000 to fix. Both covered under warranty BUT a sign of things to come? Love this SUV but getting a litttle skiddish as warranty nears end.
26 month update July 2024: 32,000 needed new tires $1700. This is the only money I have spent on repairs or maintenance. MPG is 47 combined with 45% Highway 45% 55% City. Great SUV.
10 Month Update: February 2023. Total MPG is 43.4 to date. 40 % City 60% Highway. Usual charge last 30-32 miles. Last 32 days drove 600 miles used 2.8 gallons of gas! Only problem thus far was GPS with amnesia due to small leak around shark fin antenna. Replaced under warranty. No rattles. Extremely comfortable seats. Great handling. Just saw price of new X5 50e is $10,000 higher than my 10 month old SUV & does not appear to qualify for $7500 tax credit making new one $17,500 more expensive! Love this vehicle l.
Original review:30-33 miles on battery power alone. Interior better looking & more comfortable than its peers. In-line 6 is powerful yet gets good gas mileage. Plenty of room behind second row seats. Come with $7500 rebate from federal government & $1000 rebate from BMCCA if you have been a member for at least 6 months. That is a total of $8500 off MSRP from rebates. Quite the deal while getting 50 mpge. Update 1: 6000 miles & zero problems or issues. Last tank full of gas lasted over 900 miles. All electric miles cost 5 cents here while 93 octane cost 27 cents per mile. About 40 percent is all electric & 60 per cent on gas. Great ride, power, comfort & mpg. Cons: cost of 93 octane. Loving this SUV.
UPDATE: Have had my SUV 18 months & love it. Getting 44+ mpge with 60% Highway 40% city. Smooth ride. Great Seats. Comfortable. Mostly reliable. Had to replace antenna due to water leak & had to replace 48 volt & 12 volt batteries due to defect. Both done under warranty. We love this car.
2 Year Update: 45.5 mpg 55% City 45% Highway. 28,000 miles. Love the I6, great seats with massage function. Mostly reliable. Will probably replace tires @ 30,000 miles with non run flats. Cost per mile on electric is 5.5 cents & on gas is 20.5 cents. As compared to gas only model I have saved $11,000 (tax rebates $8200 gas savings $1800). Quite the bargain.
