Purchased car last weekend - $27,500 OTD. Last minute decision decided to buy 72 mo/100K extended warranty that included routine maintenance for 48 mo/45K for $1200. Really enjoying the can so far - it's my wife's first "new car" - she;s always gotten my hand me downs. She drives 100 miles RT to work and she's loving it. I'll update as we own it a bit longer. Update - 9/13/16: still really like the car. However, gas prices are 30% less than they were when we purchased the car. So the economics of the car probably don't pencil anymore. But the car is still solid and my wife is happy with her small gas bills. Capital purchase probably is off the mark. Update - 9/13/17: still liking car. only routine maintenance so far. Mileage is typically 44-48 mpg - strong but not outstanding with today's technology. Still think it was a smart buy - even at today's gas prices. Update 3/13/18: still glad we bought it but gas mileage now runs around low 40’s. By today’s standards there are non-hybrid vehicles that are far less expensive available. But it is a very solid vehicle that performs admirablynwith virtual no maintenance other than the routine.

I purchased the prius persona in july and love this car, I previously had a Honda accord. I recommend the black cherry color, as this is a limited edition color, so there aren't a lot of them out there. this car is loaded with features, and at only 26000 with o percent financing, this was just right for me. I am getting 56 mpg going to work everyday, 24 miles, 17 of them on the highway. I am currently getting about 52 on the highway and about 56 or 57 in the city, I live in Chicago, so the city driving is stop and go, which gets you better mileage, and I have learned how to drive to get maximum fuel economy without being "that guy driving like a grandma". would recommend

I have been researching the Prius for 12 months before buying and during my research I read negative things about the Prius that I find not to be true. This car is not slow and has no problem keeping up with the pack. You don't have to drive like "grandma" to get good mpg's just go easy on the gas pedal and try to stay in eco mode. The car is very quiet and comfortable for long drives and is by no means a compact sedan but a mid-size vehicle. With that said the Prius might not be for everyone but if you have a long commute and like saving on gas with a nice car to boot..... go for it!

My nA/c Buzzes very loud when it is over 85 degrees out side, sounds like a electric transformer on a telegraph pole. I took it in to the dealer and they said your A/C is burning out and needs replaced and they replaced it. Next day same thing I took it back the dealer said that was normal. Yesterday is was not normal today it is normal. Took it to another Toyota dealer they said your A/C unit is burning out and needs replaced and they replaced it. Both times under warranty. Long story but I went into Arbitration and they said just minor repairs very little noise. Well Minor repairs it seems the Arbitrator did not know values 3 A/C units actually equal 41 % of the value of the Prius I don't think the arbitrator was working for me as he should have been. Not satisfied with the dealer at all. turn in at end of lease was not what I was told at the dealer ship and a costly process. They would not let me purchase the car at book value of 14500. they inflated the the buy out price to 21 thousand. Very unsatisfactory people to deal with. the prius was ok but not worth there price I purchased a Nissan Versa Note for half the price only difference is it is not electric and is a great value and car equal and better than the prius. I will never deal with Toyota again.

TRADED IN CMAX AFTER 10 MONTHS FOR THIS PRIUS

2013 Toyota Prius Three 4dr Hatchback (1.8L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)

I had decided to buy the Ford Cmax over the Prius without having tried the Prius. I did so because I bought into the hype and I really did like the way the Cmax drove. I also wanted to do the buy American thing. After 10 months and nearly 15K miles, never going over 37mpg, dealing with the many build quality issues (lots of them) I stumbled upon the NHTSA recall for the safety crash thing and said it was the last straw. So I traded in the Cmax for the Prius. And I haven't looked back. The first 3 fill ups were 49, 47, and 45. Already I got the MPG that the CMAX could not. So it wasn't just me. The Prius works great, is comfortable, and is an amazing build quality! UPDATE: We traded in the Prius after 2 years, because of two big reasons. The most important was that the handling at highway speeds of over 55 mph, was not very good, the Prius floated around alot. The second reason was that it seemed being so low to the ground, and all cars seemed like they were going to crash through the rear window/hatch. It was very overwhelming. I'm glad to say that I've gotten a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, which gives good MPG, but also AWD, and sits higher than the Prius. In fact, I've gotten 37 mpg on highway trips, and up to 33 mpg in the city. With the Prius, I seemed to average 37 mpg, and could get as high as 58 mpg on highway trips over 55 mph or less. I wanted to keep the Prius, I loved the MPG, the reliability, and overall the car was mostly comfortable once inside. But getting in and out was rough, and handling at over 55 mph was so bad, I felt no longer worth fighting the car on these long highway drives. Oh, in the snow, the Prius had amazing traction - really amazing. No slipping and sliding, very impressed.
