Used 2018 Toyota Highlander Consumer Reviews
Great car, but small windows cause poor visibility
I traded my old 2004 Highlander to this 2018 Highlander. It is very nice and very quiet. Audio is great. However, the windows are much smaller and are higher, so it is difficult to look at both left and right lane marking in parking lot to center your car. While RAV4 has an extra view in the left and right door rear view mirror, Highlander has only one rear view in each mirror. Too much blind spots and not enough outside views. The car is long, so it makes wide turn and you have to be careful not to make tight turn.

Disappointing tech
Auto start- Car turns off when you open the door. Annoying. Adaptive cruise- Goes off at 20 mph. Does not full stop. Safety hazard. Stereo--Toyota Entune is antiquated. Old technology and no way to upgrade. Tire pressure only indicates that there is an issue. Not whigh tire.

Overall nice and overpriced
The Highlander does give me a smooth and quiet ride. Base price at 34K is 5K too high when compared to other SUVs. A running board should be standard as I need to do two scoots to plant my foot on the ground to exit from any seat. That is going to cause excessive wear on the upholstery. The screen is placed at an upward angle which allows light from the windshield to create a glare; the glare hampers use of the screen in daylight.

Back To The High Life
I have owned a 2003 Highlander that I bought from my grandmother. It had 120k on it and I drove it to 220k not one issue ….. hoping to get the same out of my 18…. so far so good May 2025 Water pump went at 56,000 miles and now At 63k miles, my 2018 Highlander developed classic symptoms of the UA80F transmission issue (whining and hesitation). Toyota initially confirmed I was covered under CSP ZJC (POL19-04), then reversed course with no explanation—despite clear alignment with TSB T-SB-0160-18. Filed with AG, BBB, and NHTSA. Loyal Toyota owner, but this experience has changed my outlook. Miss my 2003 Highlander everyday

Great car but the drivers seat is the worst!!!!
I had a 2018 Toyota Highlander XLE AWD. I loved the car, features, and how it drove but.... the drivers seat killed me. I had left hip, back and neck pain. Thought it was just me until I drove someone else's car and had no pain. The seat was very uncomfortable on short rides as well but the long rides were the worst. It was a sad day for me to have to turn the Highlander in for a new car because I have owned a Toyota for over 35 years. The leather seat was very firm and it felt like you were sitting on hard plastic. Other than the pain caused by the drivers seat... the car worked great for my needs. Maybe if they fix the seat issue I will be back to Toyota
