I always buy Toyota because of the reliability and quality. This is no exception. Yes the ride is a little uncomfortable, and the tranny does feel awkward in certain situations, but so far this car has not given me any problems not one, it had a minor recall issue but Toyota took care of it at no charge; some sensor needed to be replaced. I would recommend this SUV to anyone who needs security to move around on a day to day basis.
2004 Highlander---great quality/reliability
2004 is before the electronics, so you wont find those in this model. I have owned this car since 2005---177,000 miles, no major repairs---just the routine tires, brakes, maintence and an alternator. Almost afraid to give it up.

04 Toyota Highlander - Great Vehicle
The vehicle's overall performance is great. Handles well in snow/ice. The only thing I can't get seem to get over is the fact that I have to hear this short clicking sound everytime I first start the vehicle, put in drive and accelerate. I took my vehicle in twice when I first noticed this clicking and was told it's normal... that's the ABS actuator turning on. Other than that, I feel I made a good investment in this vehicle... spent a little more than I anticipated but it's worth it. I could have paid less and got more incentives for another vehicle but I would have gotten less durability and less quality.
Amazing gas mileage for suv
When I first picked this up, I knew I would be paying a lot for gas, but little did I know how great this thing was on the highway, where 95%of my driving is. With the scan gauge tool, I was getting 28 mpg at 63 mph cruise. Interior is very car like and comfortable, buttons are all huge and simple. The awd is not even noticeable. Standard stability and traction control and abs is just why Toyota is dominating domestics.
Love It!
This is the second Highlander I have owned and my wife and I love It! We owned our first one in 2003 and it was great. Third row seating and a few other options were the reason we traded a year later. For those of you that are annoyed with the tire pressure light, keep your tires inflated above 29 psi and this should solve your problem. I've towed a 24 foot boat to the beach and the handling was solid and precise. The 4 wheel disc brakes were amazing in stopping the 3000lbs. behind me. As with any vehicle you must have the proper maintenance performed at recommended intervals and don't wait until a problem arises then blame it on the vehicle. I also own a Toyota Tacoma pick-up for work!
