I have only had the vehicle for 2 weeks. I commute between Dallas and Houston. I like the comfortable seats and the great speaker system. Mileage has been about 21MPG on the interstate.
Buy the limited
This is a great vehicle. The Limited has comfy, heated leather seats, and they heat up fast. Heated mirrors. The sun roof is nice, and wind noise through it is actually worse at slower speeds. Go figure. It seems a little worse than some vehicles at that head crushing in-and-out pressure effect when just the rear windows are open. It's worse with just one rear window open. The all-wheel- drive and electronically controlled traction are a huge plus in winter. Power seat adjustments are very nice, but it's a little hard to get to the controls with the doors closed. Lumbar support actually does the job. On-wheel radio controls are intuitive while controlling different functions for radio and CD.

My second toyota highlander
I especially like the way the front seat fits my lower back. This is the 2nd one I've bought for this reason. The car also feels very safe and is a good size for a woman who enjoys driving an suv, travels between two states frequently, and hauls many things. Also the gas mileage is good for an suv, I think 21+ depending on where I am.
Expected Better
Purchased in Southeast Toyota region. Southeast Toyota leather installation is poor with many wrinkles and little or no padding, recommend getting the factory installed leather. There is a drivetrain vibration feeding into the steering wheel. We drove 3 Highlanders and noticed the vibration to some extent in each.My 1994 Camry with 175,000 miles has less feedback into the steering. There is limited tire selection for the 17" wheels, either the Goodyear Infinity or Michelin LX4. Was forced to take the sunroof since Southeast Toyota delivers with all Limited Highlanders.Very disappointed with this Toyota especially in light of the high cost.
My Toy
I wanted this vehicle since they first hit the market in 2001. Now with a 2003 I am more empressed than with the 2001. The ride is so smoothe, more like a car but I can see ahead like driving an SUV.
