Has the get up and go but also is so quiet and just glides at times. Fun to drive and incredibly comfortable. I have only had it for 1 week so still a lot to learn about it but so far I am very happy with the MPG I am getting (which is why I bought a hybrid).

Overpriced & Corners cut

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY, 02/11/2018
2016 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited Platinum 4dr SUV AWD (3.5L 6cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)

It's a nice car for the right price, but when you have a $53k+ sticker price, put some premium features on it and don't cut corners. Advanced safety features are minimal and premium features aren't so premium (i.e., heated steering wheel is 1/2 heated as top and bottom don't heat), premium audio subpar, chrome rims are actually hubcaps, no frontal collision/parking sensors, climate control auto function doesn't work well, bluetooth connectivity does a poor job connecting with iphone, Entune/Apps don't work (there are workarounds for pandora via B/T connection, but the app in the car doesn't work), GPS confusing, etc.) The gas mileage from the hybrid averages closer to 17 in the City and 22 in the suburbs. I would get over most of the items above for the right price (i.e. new around $40k or $42k vs $50k-$54k). It's a nice car, but not worth a premium price. If technology is important to you, but another car. We should have bought the MDX, Volvo XC90, or the Explorer.

3rd row seats are useless. Nobody except a tiny child can climb in; and they are uncomfortable. 2nd row seats are adequate., but not great. Cargo room is not that great--the 4Runner has more; even the Hyundai Elantra had almost as much, and it is a compact. Power rear door life is annoyingly slow. Sun visors are cheapo--they do not swivel to adjust angle; and there is no option to have both side and front visors, like on some lesser-priced cars. Heated steering wheel heats everywhere except the 10 and 2 position: WTF? Warranty is a joke--3 years/36,000 miles. Nowadays cars have 10/100,000. The information display has so many redundant screens and so little customizing. You could get into a crash trying to read the dumb thing with all the useless info. The special Eco display app is meaningless--have no idea what it means. Entune is a rip-off; you can do all the same things without paying the subscription fee. The emergency assist is only available after the 1st year with a subscription; again, below current industry standards which provide lifetime without a fee. Navigation is less intuitive than other makes of cars I've driven. I'm a 40-year Toyota owner; but this might be my last Toyota.

29 mpg on this hybrid SUV? - NEVER

The car is well done, drives great, looks beautiful! It would worth the money if there were no problems with the following: 1) Gas mileage. I am driving my new Highlander Hybrid for already 3,000 miles. In mostly city driving the car hardly makes 22 mpg (it is supposed to make 29 mpg). In combined city-highway driving the car barely reaches 25 mpg. The same story would be with any non-hybrid model. Why pay almost $7,000 more for a hybrid??? 2) The navigation is horrible. I traded my Acura for this Toyota, and Acura has a nice and intelligent navigation system. This navigation system is a joke. Every day I drive the same roads to go home and to work, but this silly navigation system always sends me to some other roads, which make no sense at all. Even worst than that: it cannot find my home address. The redirecting feature when there is a congestion is completely useless. The response is very slow too. It is the worst navigation system that I have ever owned. 3) The cargo area is large, but there is no single separate storage compartment. You just have to throw your stuff there and hear it moving all around as you drive. The cargo cover is not included, you have to buy it separate. And, guess what?: they offer only black and brown. Having ash upholstery with black cargo cover looks bad.
