DIFFENTLY A KEEPER

I am the original owner...test drove other Toyota 4×4. The FJ is an awesome reliable vehicle. Climbs like a cat. Besides oil changes and filters, the original tires had 80000 miles before replacement and still had tread. The alternator and battery was replaced at 80000 miles also. The airbags surround all passengers. I have had several offers to sell and this is the only vehicle I will be keeping. Sorry they are not in production anymore. Most likely because when a vehicle is such low maintenance they are not making money on service.

Fun Car

The FJ is a fun and relatively comfortable car. The only complaints are rear window visibility and height. With the optional roof rack, the car stands approximately 6'3" tall, which doesn't fit into some garages.

Loved it at the dealership

I've always wanted an off-roader. One of my buddies has a Jeep Wrangler, and I always loved riding with him off road, and decided I wanted to get one of my own. So, following the Toyota hype, I went with the FJ, and regret it completely. It's gotten 3 check engine lights, transmission replaced, front suspension makes weird noises and the dealership said its 'normal.' The plastic scratches if you look at it. The off road performance is nothing exciting, really embarrassing having to be pulled out by my buddy with him laughing at me.

MT6, BFG A/T KO: Off-roading on 5" new snow, no slippage. Muddy trails and shallow bogs, no prob. Treads 10" rocks with ease. Locking rear differential made climbing a staggered, stair-stepped incline (rated black diamond trail) possible. 34 degree approach angle allows driver to overcome large immediate obstacles. Taking all these capabilities into consideration, the MPG is acceptable. Our MPG has been between 10-15 (wheeling) and up to 19 highway.
