Great Everyday Car

We purchased this vehicle in September this year which just happened so randomly since we are only at the dealership for my wife's 2013 Corolla maintenance service, we saw the car and fell in love with it. Toyota did a very good job with this car compare to previous Camry models, very comfortable ride and the 4-cylinder actually very powerful for me, great handling on tight corners, cabin noise is minimal but it can be a little loud when speeding on the freeway. Toyota App is very annoying it will ask you to connect to your cellphone every single time you start the car, very poor Bluetooth connection and registration to every single music app is required don't not why it keeps on logging me off, can't use Pandora directly from the app, instead i'll use the app from my phone. Toyota's GPS app full function is required to be connected thru USB port which is very inconvenient for users and feels archaic. Center console material used is a dust magnet and looks very cheap, I have OCD and I have to wipe it off every single time to keep it from dust and smudges. As of this moment the car is in the dealership to check my moon roof that keeps on squeaking that can be very destructive when driving.

Transmission lags while accelerating.

First off overall car is nice, awesome style and roomy cabin. Although accelerating is bad is feels like it skips a trans gear when Im turning with a yield sign it takes about 2-3 seconds to accelerate and when it does it flies. I believe they should do and transmission computer update because it is horrible to drive in traffic. As for the navi/enfotainment center is horrible EVERY time Im driving it says unable to connect to phone and when it does it always is saying unable to update entune when there is no update. Hopefully Toyota fixes these issues because they are NOT acceptable. Especially for a new 2018 vehicle.

2018 Toyota Camry drives in reverse

Purchased my 2018 Toyota Camry February 2018, very exciting to finally get a Camry. At about 500 miles problems started. The car dash lights continually came on indicating collusion. The rear seat belt indicator keeps beeping when no one sitting in the middle seat. The cars lane detectors not working all the time, the jerking when accelerating from a red light is scary to the point of a car almost rear ending you. The Entune system has Bluetooth connectivity issues seems to forget to automatically connect a lot. Gps not accurate and not user friendly. Getting on a highway is almost impossible since the car lags when accelerating and finally when you do get speed every light/ sensor on my dashboard turn on. Front camera regularly prompts me it’s off or not responding. This has been going on for the last 7 months until past weekend as we were leaving my home the car was put into drive then followed by a hard jerk the car went into reverse while in drive. Then all the dash lights/sensors came on and prompted to take car to dealership. The dealership manager of course didn’t seem convinced of what we said so he turned on the car and he experienced the same thing, he looked scared when the car went into reverse while placed on drive setting. This car has been giving us problems since 1 month into purchase. The dealership now says the cars computer went out, ok if that’s the case we have taken this car to the dealer on 4 separate occasions for the same issue and now all of a sudden they determined a computer failure? The car has been on diagnostics 4 separate times been told they couldn’t find anything wrong. This is a nightmare car. I have almost been in 3 separate car accidents due to loss of power while merging on highway or continuous jerking at every red light or stop sign. Now car remains at the dealership and we have a rental until they decide what to do next. This car value has depreciation to the point I can’t trade it in without loosing a significant amount of money and with this major repair, I’m sure it will be worse. I regret the day I purchased this car. I have documented all my issues with the car since March 2018 but that isn’t enough to prove I purchased a lemon according to Toyota. The dealership wants me to keep an ongoing video and picture archive before they will help me. Again the car hasn’t reached 6500 yet. I do like the body style and feel of the car but it’s very unfortunate that the reliability is non existent. I’m still make my payments on time but don’t have the car to enjoy.

2018 Camry SE Thoughts

I recently purchased this car last month and it has been wonderful. The transmission can be a bit jumpy if you are too quick on the gas upon take off as it hunts to find the right gear (being an 8 speed auto), other than that the gearing has been really smooth. I love the style of the SE (mine is black so it hides those black plastic fins well) and the overall layout. With only 700 miles, I can't comment on long-term reliability but I expect it to be great being a Toyota. Gas mileage has been 25.3 mpg. combined so far and I only expect that number to increase. I love all the safety features including radar cruise and auto high-beams along with RCTA and BSM. For those of you looking at the panoramic sunroof, I wasn't that impressed as it only leaves a 12 inch or less opening if you are actually wanting to open the sunroof. So far the ride and handling has been great on the new TNGA platform and I hope to have this Camry for many trouble-free years to come.
