Make sure it’s not an oil burner
Go research this engine. There is a piston defect that kicks in after 50k miles or even higher. Ours kicked in at 105k. Toyota extended warranty to 10 years or 150k miles. This car is beyond 10 so they won’t touch it. DO YOUR HOMEWORK!
Nothing but problem!
Owned the car 5 years, it gave me just headache. After 40k miles problems started one and other; engine light because of the oxygen sensor , water pump replaced , front struts replaced because of vibration and nothing changed, 4 tires mounted around 50k miles and didn’t fix the vibration, paint faded ( always garaged ) and Toyota refused to fix. All these problems are known for year 2007 and 2008 Camry, just search them, there are technical service bulletins (tsb). Around 65k miles. The engine started burning oil, took the car to diagnostic they said it was normal, and sent me a letter if it was getting worst it would be covered under warranty. So I was tired of having all these and looked like vibrating and burning oil issues were not going to be resolved, I traded it. It was my 3rd and last Toyota.
CV Joint Defective
I have ~71K miles on my 2008 Camry LE (4 cyl). Good overall performance, great gas mileage. I began to hear clattering when turning right. Long story short, the dealer would not repair the obviously defective CV joint (out of warranty). Two other repair shops both told me the same story; "the CV joint boot was not damaged nor leaking and the was obviously defective. The deal had to admit that a CV joint failing that early in the life of the car was not typical. Toy HQ sent me back to the dealership to work out what ultimately was a $368.00 (1/2 price) bill from the dealership. I drive >100 miles per day freeway, that transaxle should not have failed, warranty or no warranty
