Great car
When I first bought the car I wasn't too pleased with the styling. I wanted something sportier and faster but this was in my price range. Once I started driving it I fell in love with the car, it has quick get up with the vvti engine while also getting 30+ gas millage, everyone else who started driving my car really started liking it to. It was very reliable except near the end before I got in a car wreck my transmission was starting to skip a lot around 120k thousand miles, people look at me crazy when I say that about the Camry but looks like there's been more than just me with this problem so be careful with that I guess with this year. Other than that great car.
A great choice!
We had looked at all similar cars and were pretty sold on the '02 Passatt. After leaving the VW dealership, we passed a Toyota dealership and thought we'd test drive the Camry just to see if our minds could be changed. Boy, are we glad we did! The XLE-V6 is a fantastic car! The only options we didn't get were the spoiler and the navigation system, and it was still about $4K less than the Passatt. I'd definitely consider the Camry...

8 time in the shop and still rattles
I bought this Camry expecting quality and reliability. I've had it 2 months and have had to take it for repairs 8 times. First the rear suspension made noises. That was fixed after two tries. Then the overhead light rattled. The handles on both front doors rattle. They added foam to both doors four times and it still makes noises. Now the radio has started rattling. There is a delay between prssing the accelerator and the car moving. Toyota says signal has to be processed by the central computer. However that is dangerous in an emergency situation. And the brakes are soft by design. You have to floor it. I'm selling this Toyota and never buying one again.
Nice but noisy
Extremely loud road noise emanating from tires and through windows. Much louder than my 1999 Camry. Toyota says there is nothing they can do about it. Seems it is just part of the design. Transmission has been re-tuned causing sharp down shifts.
