If you want a vehicle that lasts!
This Camry is, by far, the most reliable vehicle we have ever owned. We've had a Ford, Chevrolet, & Chrysler vehicles before that, but now I am completely convinced Toyota is the best value. We purchased it new in 2002. I still drive it every day. It has 210,000 miles on it. We just replaced the catalytic converter and an oxygen sensor, because our mechanic believes the car will run soundly for several more years. This car had absolutely no mechanical issues until it was over 12 years old. We did replace the timing belt when suggested, as per "scheduled maintenance." Only once has it failed on the road...and that was due to the alternator in the 13th year, which is to be expected. If we have spent more than $5000 in repairs over the last 16 years, I would be surprised. We have replaced the brakes twice; the battery twice, replaced a chip in the air conditioning system once ($10.00 from Autozone); repaired (not replaced!) the exhaust system twice, replaced the alternator once, and now the catalytic converter and oxygen sensor. I generally still get about 24-25 mpg. I am considering shocks/struts, since I've decided to keep the car a few more years. I'd like to add that we are not good about vehicle maintenance and still the car performed well. The one thing I do not like about that car, is that the seats are not deep enough. But for this kind of reliability, I will put put up with that. update 12/19/18...I am still driving this car. Last year, we replaced the catalytic converter, because our mechanic assured me the car still had several years of life. Under that same advice, I replaced the shocks and ac/heater blower motor this year. The car has 220,000 miles on it and our mechanic feels I should be able to drive it for another 30 to 40,000 miles.

Not what I expected from a Toyota...
This was the first Toyota I have owned. In the past I had driven Honda, Chrysler, Dodge,Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick, Mercedes, Volvo. This is the worst car I have ever owned. The car has a defect with the driveline that the dealer refuses to fix stating that it meets factory specs. The styling is bland. The handling is mushy at highway speeds. The power I expected from the V6 is less than smaller engines I have driven. Overall... I will never buy one again!!!!! Beware if you're looking to buy one it is the only car I know of that does not even offer roadside assistance unless you buy the extended warranty!

Most Trouble with Toyota
This Toyota has given me the most problems of any Toyota I've ever owned. I've owned more than six Toyota products, including a Lexus ES300. The car has 112000 miles and I've had to replace the catalytic converter, two engine mounts, and now the transmission may have to be replaced because the gears are rotten. That's only the most recent issues that come to mind. Other Toyotas have had more than 220000 miles with only normal maintenance costs. What happened?
Stripped Pistons
I have been driving my Camry for 6 years. Very few issues until i hit 90k miles. My check engine light was on due to engine issue. Dealership said no big deal EVAP system not an issue. I had the whole engine drained and cleaned. 50 miles later, BING, light on. I took it to an independent service provider and they told me something is not right. Then at 130k miles, the engine pistons shoot through the casing into the combustion chamber. That could have easily started an oil fire that would have sparked into the gas chamber. The mechanic said Toyota has a serious engine design problem. Google Toyota engine issues, it is not an isolated issue. Toyota is waiting for another blow.
Unhappy
I bought this car with 11000 miles on it and now has 81000 miles. It's now starting to give us trouble. The catalytic converter went out at 81000. The transmission failed at 81200. What next? Not the best car I've ever owned.
