I purchased my 2001 Toyota Camry LE 4 cyl. in 2003 with 27000 miles on the odometer. I have driven this car for 9 years without a major repair and only done maintenence, brakes, timing belt and tuneups. The odometer now reads 171000 miles and still going strong. It still has the original exhaust. i find the seats a little uncomfortable and hard but othere than that I would give this car a 10!

Old enough to have its own drivers license...

I'm still driving my 2001 Camry. It runs great, has never had any mechanical issues, and accelerates (almost) like a batmobile. It has had regular recommended maintenance and a new timing belt, etc. at the appropriate times. But there have been no issues otherwise. It has never failed to start and has been a good all-season car. I live in the upper Midwest and the car does well in rain and snow. I only have 130,000 miles in it, and want to see if it will go beyond 200,000. Those are all good reasons to keep it. But the main reason I still have it is that it has outward visibility that most current cars lack. It doesn't have a backup camera but it doesn't need it because I can SEE !

It won't die.

Bought my LE V6 in 2005 with 58k miles on it. It has 143k miles now. I secretly wish it would die so I can buy another more exciting car, because this car is utterly boring to drive. But it's refusing to do so because it is so danm reliable. It has never broken down and found dead on the side of the road. The only parts that have been replaced were brakes, timing belt and water pump at 100k miles, spark plugs every couple years or so, and the door handle on the driver side that unexpectedly broke off a couple winters ago. The windows on the driver's side is beginning to go bad now. It can go up and down, but it's loose. This car would probably run for another 100k miles. The engine is still very quiet and clean, not even an oil leak. I had considered replacing it with a 3-series BMW, they are really fun to drive, but decided against the idea given the reputation of costly and frequencies of repairs of BMW. Cost of maintenance for the Camry has been low. During the 10 years that I've owned it, besides oil changes and tires, total cost of maintenance was about $1k or so.

I bought my Camry by accident, I was test driving used VW Passat, and was about to leave but I saw 01 camry, and test drove. Car had 98000 miles on it. and now I have 155000 on it and I have no problems at all, great drive, smooth, no major repairs, just oil change. Great gas millage. New Camry have some issues, but they'll fix it and come up more reliable.

Bought this car new in April 01. I have only 46,000 on it but am amazed that nothing has gone wrong with this car in 9 years. Just basic maintenance and 1 new set of tires. I just had the state inspection done and I was waiting for a large bill. I figured after 9 years I was due for some repairs even though it still drives like the day I got it. They told me it didn't need a thing. Would recommend these cars to everybody. I could not imagine a quieter smoother ride.
