No More Toyotas For Me
I think we all know the Camry history, solid - if unexciting - performance coupled with legendary Toyota reliability. Unfortunately, it's clear that Toyota has seriously lost its edge and my confidence. At just over 80,000 miles the engine on our Camry seized - and it's likely that 'oil gel' or sludge is the culprit. Even following the manufacturers recommendation of 7,500 miles between oil changes was insufficient. So we basically now have a junk car when we thought we had another 100,000 miles in her. I guess I'm a Honda man now.
Wrong choice.
I lease the car for 2 and a half years. Got it new and the very first day it broke down on me. They replaced back suspension unit, cutting down the wire on my speaker (putting me in we did not do it situation). Tried to declare it as a lemon, no such luck. Ever since then it is a very unpleasant experience. Customer service is good only when it comes to change the oil. Refuse any responsibility when it comes to something serious. They turn you down smiling. Very noisy, troublegiving car; does not feel safe at all. 5000 miles ago replaced both front struts. MPG is exaggeration; was never able to make as much as they promise.

Never again
Most uncomfortable car I have ever owned. Power seat adjusts only 4 ways. When seat is back to where it needs to be I have to extend arms to reach steering wheel. If I adjust wheel down it rubs legs even with seat completely down. Power is barely adequate and fuel economy is only so-so for a 4 cyl car. I expected more. Road noise is so bad that radio has to be turned up substantially at highway speed. American cars had better radios 25 years ago.
6 cyl ......the only way to GO
I love driving my camry...I owned rav 4 and celica and sporty is my style but the camry has been the Best..I gave up sporty for reliablity. My sport car is a volvo convetible. two GREAT car choices I am Happy with..
Outstanding car
Bought car new, just put first set of brakes at 75000 miles. Put an oxygen sensor in at 72000. No other repairs as yet, just normal service intervals and one set of tires, uses no oil. We'll run it forever. I've owned 8 Toyotas and this is one of the best manufactured; also have now a 2006 Avalon.
Toyota Reliability. Not This One.
Bought the car used with about 13,000 miles on it. Regular oil changes and routine maintenance. Had 2 power window motors give out - expensive! Then at 91,000 miles, a connecting rod broke. Leaves us with a totaled Camry that we thought would last for another 100K miles. Toyota USA refused any help with repairs. Last Toyota I'll own.
Wonderful Car!
Bought my Camry new in 2002, and have had a great experience! With 164,000 miles, I still have only changed timing belt & water pump. Have done all my own maintenance, and gas mileage has gone up since new, to trip average of 35 mpg/70 mph. I love to drive the car, it's wonderfully quiet, handles perfectly, supple ride, my only request would be better seats, longer leg support, and adjustable rake. What a fantastic car!
few problems
I haven't had a lot of problems, engine check light started coming on. Had sensor replaced, O2 and then another, cost around 1000 for both. Then battery wouldn't start. Then alternator. Except for when the battery went, it's always started. Had some road noise with the pirelli tires that were on it. Changed to some goodyear comfortred and now it's real quiet. I like the gas mileage and it is fun to drive. When I bought it, gas was 1.85 a gallon here, remember. Then Katrina hit and gas went up to 3.00. I was planing on more trips with this then gas got too expensive. Still, getting around isn't bad.
Best car I've ever owned
I bought my car from an older woman who had barely used it for 19 years. I bought it for $2k at 77,500 miles. Throughout the 5 years I've had it, I have only had to replace tires, suspension, steering components, brakes and exhaust. All of which were easy once I got through the rust (I live on the east coast). I have had zero engine or transmission issues. The car now has 140k miles and still runs, sounds and drives beautifully. I will end up driving this car into the ground, but I hope to have it for at least another few years. My car has outlasted my friends' cars (ranging from 2010 - 2014) and it will outlast my parents' cars which are 2013 and 2016 Toyotas. Even though the rust can be a major issue with replacing parts, it has been the easiest car to work on by far. I have taught myself how to be a mechanic with this car. I even have a Sony AX100 stereo system installed which has not been a problem with the car's battery usage and the stock speakers are better than most stock speaker systems today. If you can find this car on the market with little rust and an inspection sticker, I highly recommend. It even has an 18.5-gallon gas tank which lasts me 2-3 weeks if I don't drive very far or use the interstate. I wish I could drive this car forever.

True Toyota Reliabilty
I purchased this car in 2008 with 155k miles. This car was properly maintained and because of that, it was in practically new condition when I bought it. The only thing that had to be replaced in its lifetime was the water pump, which almost any car needs replaced at that age. It also had new wheels and brake pads. I test drove a newer Mitsubishi for the same price. Compared to the Camry, the Mitsubishi felt like a golf cart. The build quality of a Toyota is like non other, except for Lexus (but they're made by Toyota anyway). If properly maintained, this car could easily last 300,000 or more miles.
If you want reliability a 2000 Toyota Camry 4 cyl
Let's see here I am a general motors fan that is all I buy for vehicles never have bought anything else Pontiac Chevy GMC will not buy anything else besides those brands except 6 months ago I got really sick of putting money into my general motors vehicles it's costing me thousands and thousands of dollars and I was ready to pull my hair out. Anyway I was looking online for a reliable vehicles it took me months and I always listen to this guy on YouTube name Scotty kilmer everybody should check him out if you do not know who he is if you're looking to buy a vehicle you should watch his videos because that's exactly what I did and I bought an excellent 2000 Toyota Camry LE four cylinder with 145,000 MI I couldn't believe the condition the car was in when I bought it not too bad had a couple hiccups when I first bought it the tires were defective needed to buy all four new tires and replace the two front struts and strut insulator mounts because it was making noise and it was bothering the hell out of me plus the door handle broke inside driver side door handle I have to replace that and I put a new belt on the vehicle and lucky to my surprise the previous owner just replace this belt tensioner chain in my mechanic told me that was a very very expensive fix I probably put in a little over $1,000 in repair and paid about $3,500 for the vehicle I am pretty satisfied after 6 months of using this nothing has gone wrong with it at all it has 149,000 mi on it almost 150 and it handles and purrs like a kitten will definitely be thinking about getting another one of these because I'm selling this one till my best friend very soon. He fell in love with the car so I said to him well I'll hold the car for you until you can pay it off that's what friends do for one another so if you're looking for a reliable vehicle this model year 1999 2000 and 2001 are the three years that you want to look for very reliable car Toyota will never make them like this again very sad.

greta car
i had my camry for 2 years and I love this car. The comfort inside this car is incroyable and the engine's smootheness will blow you. Even though I had to replace my brakes at 12k and the tires at 25k i still love this car.
Great Family Sedan
This car is absolutly wonderful. I bought it in 2000 and all I have done is cnaged the oil. No maintanence needed at all. The care gets over 500 Miles to a tank on the interstate and over 300 / tank in the city. I would buy another one in a heart beat. Shoot I might even trade this one in when the lease is up for a new one. Thanks Toyota.
Excellent, is all I can say!
After loking at many cars, including BMWs, Accords, Maximas, and 626s, I had no choice but the Camry. Price, features, comfort, looks, and ride could not be better. Even to this day, the car feels exactly the same as the day I drove it off the lot. I'd do it all over again. Excellent car! Please sir may I have another?
Not new, but felt new.
I bought mine used, but the ride and handling felt like it was a new car. It accellerates fairly well against other V6's on the rode that are newer. Sharing similar interior and exterior features as the Lexus 300, I feel as if I have a Lexus without the Lexus name. I would recommend a Toyota Camry to anyone who asks.
Boo's Camry
This is my first Camry. My husband talked me into the V6 - which I am glad now that I did buy. The only thing with the V6 is if I get on it - the gas mileage goes down. This will not be my only Camry I will ever own. This is the most reliable car I have ever owned.
Bulletproof Ride
Aside from a check engine light that comes on for the gas cap, I have not had ONE problem with this vehicle. Not ONE !!! I'm still on my original breaks if you can believe that !!!! The 6 punches like the day I bought it.
Things fall off
Bought used in 2002 with 30,000 miles. As for reliability couldn't be better. At 100,000 miles replaced belts, hoses, & water pump. That's it!! but the interior seems cheaply made. At 135,000 miles there is a leak that we can't find and back window has come off track Cover for fuse box on side keeps coming off and carpet is coming from under the door. Front seat broke. But at 32 mpg I'll keep it til the doors fall off. Fairly good on brakes and tires. My daughter will get in when she gets her license. May buy something a little more exciting then.
WELL, ITS NOT A VETTE!
Hey, I didn't buy this car for blowing away other cars on the freeway, after all, I live in Phoenix and because of rush hour, don't drive over 4 mph. I bought this car used with 53,000 miles on it. The car was a leased vehicle and well taken care of. We just had our first baby, so I wanted a car with quality, not so much style and class. So far so good, the car now has 60000 miles on it, and besides changing the oil a couple times, no other maintenance required. Good car for a family, not Evil Keneval.
Great ALL AROUND CAR
I found this car to be great for an average joe. Yes it doesnt do 0-60 in 5 sec, and it doesn't cause head turns, but if you want something to get you from A to B, and have your proud, this is the car. Ergonomically it is ok as well, I have no complaints in that realm. Personally I would get the 6 cyc, the 4 has enough for a single person driver, but if you add on more than 1 more passenger things can feel sluggish.
Interior not up to Toyota standard
I currently own my second 2000 Camry and this is my fourth Camry. I love the security in knowing it is going to get me where I need to go and bring me home. However I have a complaint about the quality of the intereior devices, I have had to replace door handles, the motor for the rear window had to be replace and we do not use the window often at all. The seat is wobbly and the mirror cover on the visor is broken. On the door arm rest the part around the window buttons is coming away from it. I suggest if you have any problems go ahead to your dealer and maybe they can replace it for cheaper.
Great car
This car was brand new on a three yr rental by me in 2000, then purchased at the end of the rental in 2003. What better way to buy when you like the car and know the exact maintenance history? It is now 2009 and the vehicle has 117,000 and the engine is still purring along and the body is still in great shape, rides/handles great and has been very reliable. Only negative is the factory radio. It is very expensive to replace or repair. Overall it has been a great car and I would buy another Toyota.
Best Value of any Car...Period
I have owned the car for over 5 yrs now and have minimal problems. Purchased car with 22k miles in 2003 and have just put my 2nd set of tires on it (third total set but original Dunlaps were toasted when we bought it). Passenger window is broken, needs new motor. I just also did the front brakes, pads and rotors. New battery a few weeks ago. Other than this, in 5+ yrs, nothing is wron with this car. Nice style and of course, superior toyota quality. This is the BEST CAR VALUE for the MONEY ! I bet with proper maintenence/oil changes, this car would run 300k+ ! If this car fits your budget, buy it, you will not be disappointed!!
Good basic transportation
My Camry LE, 4 cylinder is driven primarily in town with an occasional road trip thrown in. The car runs without a hitch and gets great gas mileage. I average 20 mpg (city) while highway averages 32 mpg. The powertrain warranty is 5 year/60K miles. It's not an exciting car to drive, but I didn't buy it for "fun" factor. The ergonomics of the dash are great, I can reach for anything without even looking for it. The car seats four comfortably, I've never had five people in it. The trunk is accommodating and can be extended into the backseat. Because of Camry's reliability (I drove my '93 LE, 4 cylinder 183,000 miles!), I'm sure I'll have this car for a VERY long time.
Good performance...
I've had this car for almost 3 years, and the results are very satissfactory. The car runs great, and it's very reliable, and neat. The only problem I had with this car since I leased was with the alignement, or tires. In other words, the car always pulled to the sides. Bottom line? Before you get your car, and believe me toyota's are very reliable and great cars. Test drive the autmobile "WITH NO RUSH" Check to see if it feels the car drives right. If it doesn't? DO NOT BUY IT. Go to a different dealer and until you find what you like.. oh and remember you aren't buying apples....This is an INVESTMENT ;)
Oldie but young in miles
I'm selling my car because of my age disabilities. I'm driving so little that my battery kept dying on me until I just recently (February 2017) had to buy a new battery. This car has thousands of good miles left in it. I sold my car a year ago - hated to part with it. THE CAR HAS BEEN SOLD!

Great Make
Bought mine brand new in year 2000 and has about 128000 miles and runs as great as in 1st year. Ride is very smooth, does not make noise. In the initial I could not wait to drive it. Still loving every minute driving it.
Car Rating
The Toyota Camry is a very nice and is a very reliable to drive. The gas consumation is good. I only wish that the interior came standard with more comfortable seats (Lumbar etc.), also when you adjust the seat (manuel) the seats don't rise very far so I have to use a pillow so I can see over the steering wheel. Other than that the car is excellent.
unhappy
This is certified new vehicle with 34000 miles, car is burning oil, transmission does not change properly when AC is on. Tires and brakes had to be replaced. Dealer told me that Camry's burn 1 quart of oil every 1500 miles!! Refused to fix trans, said no problem. This is because car is under original warranty. I won't buy another one, that's for sure.
enjoying the commute
I live in Atlanta and spend an average of 2 hours in the care commuting to work. I use to hate it but now that I've got this care, it's a piece of cake. The stereo system is great, got a 6 cd changer. The car handles well, pick up is good and stopping isn't a problem. Front and side airbags for protection, track control, leather interior, moon roof and wood grain dash. It's got a very stylish look with the rear spoiler and mud flaps. Love this car!
Camry CE
Very reliable as a starter car, I got this to go to college. It had 77k on it when I received it. Now it has around 81k after two years. I did, however, run into a couple problems. One was the check engine light, and the other was the alternator dying on me. The engine was free as it was well within the 30-day guarantee, but the alternator was $200 and self-repaired. Since mine had a starter on it, I cannot use it if I park the car in the winter for more than a few days, otherwise it would start then quit. I live in Michigan, and temperatures can go down to -8 F. Driving is great and very comfortable. Very fuel efficient as I fill up every month, despite driving 4 days a week to school.
2000 Camry love it
Love my 2000 Camry. You raise the hood to check the fluids, you close the hood... because it needs nothing but usual oil changes, etc. Although i have had to put on brakes on him a couple of times (70k miles). That's the only thing, really are the brakes. Other then that ... love that car. Got my dad away from Cadillac after he saw the way my Camry wasn't in the shop!! dave
I love it!!!!!!
Brought new in Fall of 1999. Regular oil changes and brakes, had to replace water pump and timing belt recently. It has been a great purchase use it now in the winter and for trans to work and back. Brought used CTS 2yrs ago, which is okay but I hate to say it. If I had to decide btwn the two I would take my Camry over the CTS although it has twice the mileage. Will probably sell Camry next year, trade in CTS and buy a new Camry if economy improves. The lucky kid that buys this car is going to get a good deal.
Reliable, comfortable car
I've had this car for 4 years and have never had a problem...only routine maintenance such as changing tires and oil changes. I've got 26,000 miles on it so far.
Overrated car
My Camry was a 5-speed, which was the only plus. This car was fairly reliable, never had any probs with it. Of course that is the camry's selling point: reliability. Reliability aside, this car was a piece of crap. It had horrible accelleration (sp?), poor handling, and was a boring ride overall. No power to the engine at all. What a supreme disappointment! The Accord is a much better car-- go with the Accord. I wish i had :(
My Camry
I leased my 2000 with the full intention of keeping it for only the duration of the lease. I'll be keeping it at the end of my lease in October. I love the car.
I love my Camry
I love my Toyota Camry. I love everything about it. My Camry is always reliable, and it is a pleasure to drive. I love the way it looks inside and out. I could not be happier with my it.
easy going ride
I bought a Toyata after driving my brother inlaw's Toyota. I feel good driving this vehicle. This vehicle model looks better the the latest model.

Piece of Toyota Junk
This car is the worst piece of junk I've ever owned...and I had an '87 Ford Escort. The check engine light is on every other week, the car began burning oil at 40K miles (after regularly changing the oil every 3 months or 3,000 miles). The car has also had a leftward pull while driving since day one. The Toyota dealers I contacted all state that this is normal! Check the internet and you'll see numerous complaints about the same leftward pull. Add to this the fact that the car is severely underpowered and handles like a go cart. What a waste. To call it a piece of junk assumes that the car has a purpose and is an insult to junk everywhere!
A very satisfied camry owner
I have owned a camry for about 4 years now. Its the most reliable, quiet, smoothe to handle car I have ever owned. The standard music system is also a pleasure to listen. Trunk is spacious, back seats are comfortable, folding the seats makes even more trunk space.
Excellent Buy
I bought this toyota as a demo model and loved everything about it from the way it drives to the gas mileage and lots of other neat features. It has never given any problems so far. Has about 30k miles on it and hoping for it go many more.
2000 Toyota Camry CE
By far the best highway driving car I've been in. Very good build quality -- no squeaks or rattles. Car feels as tight with 45,000 miles as it did when new. Smooth, smooth, smooth.
Your moneys worth
This is my second Camry. The ride is comfortable & the cabin is quiet. Road noise is very minimal. The 4 cylinder engine is surprisingly peppy. Friends/family thought it was a V6 engine. it's worth the money that is spent.
Toyota Certified Means Nothing
I recently purchased a Toyota Certified 2000 Camry. $300 worth of car trouble later, I am afraid to drive it anywhere. I can't figure out what they certifiy. I couldn't have been my car. Though the ride in more smooth then a corolla, seating in the back is still terrible.
Toyota = Quality and Reliability
Our Camry is used for a family car and has not had a single problem. Oil change, new tires and battery..that's it!
Vanilla, Reliable
Boring car, but drives forever with no maintance. I have driven this car for two years and have had no problems what so ever. All I have done is oil changes. Awesome, but boring.
My Car
I have started buying cars with and investment attitude. Quality and getting lots of mileage is a priority for me. I have enjoyed the car for the chicago area traffic. The gas mileage has been very good, and maintainance has been less then my american cars. The car insurance cost was equivalent to my american made cars. I am sold on toyotas, infact I bought a 97 corolla for my 18 yr old son for college with a 128,000 miles. We both love our cars and they seem to also have been a good investment.
TRUST ME... THIS CAR IS AWESOME!
I bought the 00 Camry a few years ago, and it hasn't EVER given me problems. The breaks get loose once in a blue moon, but ONLY when you abuse them. The camry is so much fun to drive, its safe, practicle, isn't a gas guzzler (which is GREAT to know now w/high gas prices) and its just AWESOME! really, GET THIS CAR!
