Disappointed

2005 Toyota Avalon Touring 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 5A)

I HATE to say this, but as a long-time Cadillac owner, I finally switched to Toyota on the advice of friends who are loyal Toyota owners. The ride is great, the gas mileage is spectacular, and the interior and trunk space are huge. BUT - the interior finish is cheap. The yellow foam on the front seats shows through. I've had the steering column replaced (recall item), the driver seatbelt stopped retracting, the power steering pump went out (10,000 miles) and it's got a ferocious pull to the right that the dealer says will probably be a future recall. Not the quality/reliability I was looking for. I'm considering switching to Lexus. Not what I expected at all.

@ lesser price, a must for luxury cars

It's a dream car. Rides like a charm, very quiet, good gas mileage and very reliable. The interior space is so roomy and comfortable, with more head room. With a V6 280hp, 3.5 liter engine, it accelerates very smoothly and with authority. The exterior design is so sleek (it was like love at first sight) and it's part of the reasons why I bought it. It's a head turner wherever I go. I'm very glad I bought this car. For those of you who are into luxury cars, this is the car for you at a much lesser price.

Avalon Experience

Excellent road car. Have some issues with quality and ergonomics. Transmission seems to shift excessively in traffic. EPA estimates were off significantly under old stds; now are more in line with my experience.

AWESOME AVALON XLS

We saved $15,000 by purchasing our Blizzard White XLS, fully loaded, instead of a Lexus GS300 we really liked? Awesome ride, comfort, space, safety, power, dual exhaust, body style, leather and this list goes on! Beats the GS300 in most categories - great value for $29,000. 2nd Avalon XLS, 4th Toyota - sold on Toyota's reliability and quality.

Plenty of room for head, legs and gut. Seats are comfortable and roomy. Car is extremely quiet and drives well.
