Super without counting dealer!

It is super luxurious and you won't ever like to drive a rental car, not even luxury class, after having driven this. Maintenance is minimal. The dealer is awful. Does not stick to appointed times for maintenance (had to wait 1 hour on drop off and 1 hour on pick up!). At 30,000 mile service dealer did not check everything (did not notice that trunk button does not open trunk anymore) and that tires were bald.

I have brought my Avalon xls with 103,000 km. and just loss it in an accident at 243,954 km. This car runs like magic, all my friends, are so surprise how beautiful, comfortable and spacious it is on the inside. most of the people I give a ride, after being amazed by the silences and smooth ride, do not believe it is a 2001, they think its a newer model. I am going to miss this car. but now I am on edmunds researching a 2005 avalon used one. just hoping I will get a even greater one. I am now using a 2010 toyota camry for the rental, and I still would choose my 2001 avalon ahead of the camry, not for the looks from outside, but for the comfort, low noise and luxury of the ride.

You Cannot Beat This Car!

Outside of tires and batteries, this car has had no repair work, and has never been in the shop with 80,000 miles. I do my own maintenance. Original brakes with a lot of city driving. Hey, just use the transmission to slow down. Not a hot rod, not a sports car, but runs great and handles pretty darn well too. The ride is superb and the car is extremely comfortable on long trips. Cannot ask for more than this car has given. The best value anyplace!

2 mistakes one for thinking about buying it and the 2nd for doing it. several trips back to dealership (woodgrain-brakes-rotors-dash cracking) 2 front end accidents one with a deer and one with a vehicle at 65 Mph on the interstate and both occurences the air bags have not deployed the last time 09/04/02 the seat belt didn't even lock. Body damage was very severe to the avalon. 5th toyota vehicle we have owned this one has ruint the reputation we are finished with them all together. on a another review that it received a 3 star rating on crash test so this defies my answer to what i think--by the way the ford focus rated higher!

Avalon - a space shutle?

The test drive felt like I was driving a Camry with bigger body. Very ugly and uncomfortable interior, exterior is not for everyone. Very poor corner handling, although engine is alright. Suspension is camry alike.
