Love it...
This is the SUV for a person who still likes to drive a SUV with a rugged feel. It drives excellent on and off roads. The 4Runner has a great look.
Could be better
Toyota quality is great and they sure use it on this 4Runner. The transmission is great and strong. When the gear shift, you will feel the quality product. This is my third Toyota and every one ran forever.

BRAKES A PROBLEM
Brake vibration has been a problem.Rotors replaced pads replaced(three times).Dealer was going to start charging me til I found a service memo about this problem from TOYOTA at this site.
Toyota's Best
This has been a very reliable and enjoyable car for us. We've towed over 5000 lbs of payload... had to replace disk brakes, but no other problems. A very well made vehicle.
Runs better than a Timex!
I've owned my 4Runner for 7yrs. I have 193,000 miles on it with no reason to believe I won't get another 100,000. It has only been in the shop for normal maintenance and a check engine light that keeps coming on for a few weeks and then goes off. Can't find the reason so I'm not worrying about it. I don't like how it drives in the snow. 4WD get's me up my steep driveway but doesn't help me stop on slippery roads. Getting about 16 mpg and the small tank means I'm always at the gas station. Very comfortable on long drives and cargo space galore. My dogs love the electric rear window and so do I. It's the main reason I bought it. Hardly any rust either. Great SUV! Not too big -- not too small.
Runs Like a Tank
I have had my 4runner since 2002 and have taken it on several cross country trips. It now has over 130,000 miles on it and it has never let me down. I have also taken down the beaches in Mexico and I find myself pulling others out. The only thing other than routine maintenance like a timing belt was I had to replace the starter once. It performs well both on and off road and it cannot be beat for reliability. I would highly recommend this vehicle.
I loved my car, but it had to go
I drive this car and absolutely loved it for 130,000 miles with NO issues. The brakes and rotors had to be replaced much more frequently than my husbands truck, but I had off road tires. Routine maintenance was inexpensive compared to other car brands. When it hit 130,000 miles though, the major repairs started and at that point it quickly got more expensive than what the car was worth. Now, if you keep maintenance up and invest on the necessary repairs, these cars will last reliably to 350k or more miles! Doing the math though, it was getting too expensive for what we would have been able to sell it for. I was still able to sell it for only $2,000 less than what I bought it for!

Wanna break your bank?
The Toyota may be reliable (except for the time I ran out of gas in po-dunk western Kansas while the guage showed half a tank still left), you will pay dearly for it. Toyota, in my opinion has grossly over-priced their vehicles. You will get twice as many luxury features from other makes for a lot less dough!
Flip
Thought that the car was great till I took a detour on a gravel road and the car flipped.
4Runner Limited
This is a fantastic vehicle; only suggested improvement is a larger gas tank.
