Service needs help

The car itself is amazing….BUT there are ALOTTT OF little things that need work. The way Tesla delivers 145k cars/suvs is very very poor at best. Service is worse in all auto industry, my plaid broke down on me 3rd day…yes 3rd day. Took them 3 days to get it towed due to my location, and I didn’t have a car for 2 weeks. Broke down for the 2nd time and when I was talking with the service rep he stated that they have been having problems with the new plaid models! If you have only One car (Tesla) I would recommend buying another random backup car or suv because you will 100 percent need it.

Great design horrible build

The design of this car is amazing. Auto pilot is great on the highway though it requires that you jiggle the steering wheel (yoke) to know you are there which is kind of annoying as my hand is on the wheel just not torquing it enough. The build quality however is miserable. Panel gaps are all over the place, they actually have a tool to know if things are bad enough to fix so they rehung my door but left the rest all a little crooked, unacceptable for the price. This of course leads to a loud whistling sound at higher speeds. They heard the sound when I took the service personnel for a drive but decided they can't find the cause so it isn't a problem. Service is so bad I told my father to cancel his order. Update: whistling was a missing roof seal, finally found it after 3-4 visits, has to replace roof twice but now roof rattles and squeaks and they just gave up on fixing it and said it isn't a warranty issue of a brand new car. Also had 2 parking sensors fail. 14 service visits and out of service 5 weeks in the first 3 months of ownership. Update: I was very excited when I finally got mine. Honestly the technology is quite impressive. The build quality, however, was so abysmal and the service even worse. When it was delivered it had a whistling sound at speed. For a while they refused to test it and fix it as they say that is above the speed limit where they are though not where I commute. Eventually they did find the problem and it was because the glass roof was installed incorrectly. They replaced that and the windshield but introduced a horrible rattling. After having it for a month they returned it to me still rattling and said that isn't covered by warranty. So my $100,000 luxury car rattles as I drive to work. As a side issue, the range isn't nearly what they say it is, more like 300 miles on a long range with 19-in wheels. That is however still enough for me. It does use about 10% of the battery with sentry mode turned on while parked at work. I am one of the idiots who did pay for full self-drive. The only value I get out of that currently is that it will change lanes for me on the highway. It is like very good cruise control but nothing like what was promised. Overall, some of the best engineering but worst build quality I have ever seen.

Chicago Model S Longrange

Vince D, 07/06/2023
2022 Tesla Model S 4dr Sedan AWD (electric DD)
8 of 8 people found this review helpful

I purchased this Model S in August 2022. The Model S is white with cream interior looks very nice. The white which is free has sparkles in paint and looks great. The cream interior looks so good and the vegan leather feels and looks good and clean easily. The 19" standard tires run well and with the plastic covers off the rims look very good I get many complements. I added caps and a center cap to clean up the mags. The Model S is so fast I but I prefer the vehicle on standard which a bit slower but still fast and I set the drive to comfort for a nice smooth ride vs the sport ride. The electronics takes a bit of time to get comfortable with but eventually I'm fine with making custom changes to fit my driving needs. The yoke steering takes a while to get comfortable with and some won't like that. I'm good with it as I like the look and the handling is acceptable to me. Making turns can be an issue if you buy you might be better off with the round standard wheel. I like the navigation and voice system and the sound system all work well. I also think the a/c settings for the air direction works very well although there should be the ability to shutdown passenger air if desired. All the controls on the yoke are fine except the horn needs some improvement, way to small an area. I like the idea of all the controls on the yoke and no stalks or other buttons except for what you can do on the screen electronically. The space in this model S is tremendous, the trunk lower level is deep and stores huge amounts of stuff the trunk itself is large and if you drop the 2 back seats it's incredible what you fit in the back area. The fronk is nice but I don't use it much but it's there. This model S long-range is so fast and the regenerative breaks work well and once you get into them you can drive very long distances and never use the break pad. The technolgy in the Model S takes some time to get comfortable with but if you're a techy you will love it and if not you won't. The battery is close to capacity ratings as long as you're not in cold weather (freezing), speeds above 70, and stop and go traffic. Cold weather really drops the range by 10-20%. If you run heaters, heated seats and drive hard the model S battery is easily down 20% in range. This is not Tesla but EV's. But the model S does get up to 405 miles and that range is accurate before driving experience delivers actual. I've charged on Tesla charging at super high speeds and it is very fast charging maybe 1/2 hour to 200 + miles. They need to continue to work on build quality mine had 2 small issues and I've not had the model S back to Tesla but that one time for the fixes. Tesla maintenance did a great job I have no issue with their technical people and they were very friendly and helpful. I like the look I like the drive, I like the technology and I like the saving fuel costs as well as the environment. Great EV and vehicle the latest pricing seems more in line should be below $90,000.

I bought a Tesla Model S long range in December 2020 to replace an old but trusty Lexus. I can say with confidence that this is the best car I have ever driven. It accelerates faster than a Porsche, handles curves better than a BMW, rides smoother than a Lexus. Of course, the benefits of an all-electric car that can be charged at home are well known by now. However, once the thrill of driving wore off and the reality of owning a car that cost nearly $90k set in, the defects started to appear. Firstly, it lacks storage space. The cup holders are too close to each other, and placed very inconveniently, so my elbows often knock against my water bottle. The doors lack any storage space, so all my stuff is packed into a small compartment in the middle. The user interface of the massive screen is not well designed, especially for someone that needs reading glasses. The icons are all monochrome, often used buttons are at the bottom of the screen, and the scroll buttons on the steering column are not intuitive. The autopilot feature is truly in beta - even though they charge $10k for it. It works well on highways but is not ready for city driving at all. The biggest problem is their service. I have a problem with the car but it has taken over 3 weeks to get an appointment with their service center. It is impossible to get anyone on the phone to even find out if my car is safe to drive. When I reached out to them to get an earlier appointment, I got a curt one line reply that they are fully booked. Makes me wonder why an electric car has so many service needs - lends credence to the complaints about build quality. Any other premium car maker that charges $90 k would not treat their customers like this. Clearly, Tesla has a long way to go to become a customer centric company.

This car is amazing on every level that maters to me. Does it have panel gaps? Yes. Do I care? No. It’s not like the fenders are falling off. You have to closely look at one side and then go compare it to the other. Who does that with a daily driver? Not me. I recommend test driving one if you’re interested. If you have the ability to charge at home, Tesla’s are a lifestyle changer that you don’t look back from. We can drive 300 miles in our Plaid S for under $7. That’s not a Prius, it’s a large comfortable car that will spank anything that pulls up next to it at any speed. It’s beyond ludicrous. Something to keep in mind with these reviews. I didn’t need to prove I own one, and could be making stuff up. So the same holds true for any of these reviews and the whole review score. With most brands this wouldn’t matter, but Tesla seems to draw a lot of hate from people that have no actual experience with Tesla. I’ve never met an unhappy owner, though I’m sure they’re are some out there.

I bought a 2021 Tesla Model S for almost $120,000... that's right, at least you expect some respect from such a "respected" company.. WORSTT WORRSSSTTT customer service I have had in my life!!! It has been even a year and the yoke wheel is peeling off, plastic parts are broken and doors getting jammed. Worst thing is they do not provide a customer telephone number because they know they will get bombed with poor reviews!! That's why everything is though the app.... Tesla basically do not care about their customers because they know most of the customers are not satisfied with the cheap interior material they fabricate!! Hey guys, it is a $120,000 which not a lot of people can afford tgT nowadays.. They just while their...... with your concerns, trust me... I should have never left Mercedes for this piece of junk, but that is how life is, you learn from your mistakes.....

After 3 Teslas, a P-85 to P-85-D to P100-D; the quality of the vehicle has degraded. I would not buy a 4th Tesla S Performance/Plaid vehicle. Not worth the risk for a highly priced vehicle. And the service staff are unable to fix anything that is a quality of drive function. They claim they cannot fix the auto high beam lights because it's never dark when they are open despite video of what the freaking problem is--it does not work! Nor can they hear the irritating wind noise now prevalent on the P-100 front windows. Far more ambient noise than the first two I bought. "Oh, that's just normal" WTF for $150k if better be silent. Nor can they do "paid for work" that they did on the first 2 P-Model S I bought. Early adopter (within 1st 15,000 Model S sold). DONE!

I bought my 2013 Model S from its 2nd owner at 98k miles after lots of research reaffirming that maintenance cost was low and reliability was high. I actually loved my car, drove smoothly and quietly, but then I didn’t even reached 120k miles on it when the high voltage battery completely died on me. I parked one day at work with 80% charge and got out from work to find the battery completely drained to the point of not even starting or being able to put into neutral to push it to a charging stall. I left the car plugged in using 3 extension cords for the entire weekend (still at my job’s parking lot) and it didn’t take any charge at all and never turned back on again. I towed it to the nearest Tesla service center and after over a week they told me the battery had completely died and it needed full replacement to the tune of $23k (the car’s average value in the best condition possible and long range trim is ~$26k). I asked about warranty coverage and they told me I was out (over 100k miles and just at the 8 year mark). I asked hypothetically if I had the money for the repair what their warranty would be and they said 50k miles on the battery only. The message is: DON’T BUY USED TESLAS but if you do make sure you’re still within the warranty period. GET RID OF THE CAR BEFORE THE FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRES, after that all bets are off, it may very well become a bottomless money pit. DON’T EVER BUY A TESLA WITH NEW BATTERY thinking that it’s like buying a new car - it isn’t, you’re only covered for 50k miles on a fresh battery - completely wasteful and senseless. It’s a great, fun, and classy car while the warranty lasts (service is great and at no cost for warranty covered items, no questions asked). But once out of warranty you’re all on your own. They wouldn’t even buy it back from me for parts - terrible customer service (when things went south) that leaves much to be desired from such reputable brand.

Our Model S has needed service once a month for as many months as we’ve owned it. Would be more often but it takes forever to get it in for service. Tesla is fooling the world! Amazing how many you see on the road. Garbage car that looks good. You couldn’t pay me to ride in self driving mode!

I got the Model s REFRESHED Long range jun 29 th 2021 it looking insane and the car looks really sharp. Pros 1. looks great 2. handles amazing 3. smooth smooth ride like skating on glass 4. Technology is crazy awesome 5. acceleration is stupid fast even on the refresh Long Range 6. screen in back kids watch reflex or other streaming platforms 7. center console I perfect and super well designed im 5'6" 8. back seats ton of room have put some 6'3" in the back and person fit great 9. screen is huge well designed of apps and maps. 10. much more luxurious than previous model s, old model S is Childs play on the interior compared to the refresh. 11. feels like the car is gliding at 140mph don't recommend driving like that at all 12. maps learns time of day and what your typical route like work in the morning and when you start it up after work it like guess to help you with navigation home. 13. the A/C ducts are seamless 14. cooled seats in TEXAS are amazing 15. the touch screen super responsive 16. seats way nicer than the old model s and way way better than model 3 seats. 17. cock pit of the car is super quit it does have noise cancelling speakers built in the driver and front passenger seats. not currently activated it will be coming in a Tesla update one day (car is still super super quit) 18. seats super comfortable CONS 1. says it gets 375 mph for full charge because I have the upgraded rims from Tesla truth is the car gets 330-345 miles per so kinda of a lie ( charges 0-75% super fast but goes super slow after 75% charged so last 25% is the time killer 2. the car takes longer to charge at super charger than they kind make it out unless you got to a 250kwh super charge than its stupid stupid fast. 3. paint behind back wheels got dinged up from rocks and stuff at only 1500 miles, I live in the city and drive highway and city streets not a gravel road or anything of that nature. 4. summons with full self driving kind of a gimmick not that great. (kinda scary a 90K+ driving it self bad stuff could happen. 5. full self driving not auto pilot only really works on highways city streets nope. still super helpful totally not worth the 10k I spend for It 6. auto guess direction is kinda okay not the best kind of a gimmick 7. surprising no side mirror car alert when getting over, shows on the screen but could be better 8. A/C has to be at like speed 6 to really cool off car fast in hot weather. 9. charging usb-c port and power mat charge iPhone slow 10. so streaming music from iPhone to car great but when the song changes the highlighted song doesn't go down so you can see what song is next it like doesn't move with the songs as they have been listened to. 11. sound system is stellar 12. steering wheel buttons are hard to push and I have small hands . pretty much awesome car great value and I would have bought this car again after owning It

The Tesla Plaid at first is an amazing car filled with technology until you have owned it for a few months. You quickly realize that the "cool" features such as summon where the car will come to pick you up in a parking lot is not all that accurate and simply is lacking the ability to truly perform as needed. The speed is incredible, the lack of apple car play or andriod is annoying. The steering wheel is a complete piece of crap. I have had this car for over 1 year now and I still want to hit the center (airbag) to have the horn sound but nope not a thing.. you need to find the little horn button on the steering wheel and hit that and for sure during any emergency you are thinking let me find the smallest push button on the car so the horn works. The service center for Tesla is a complete -0- , you can't speak to anyone and when you do call you are directed to use the Tesla app to ask your questions. I had the safety restraint module replaced and it took 9 days and since this is a known problem and the appointment was made 2 weeks in advance the amount of time to service the car is completely unacceptable. Long story short is that I will NEVER support or purchase another Tesla vehicle in my life. The car does have some very nice features and again it is the fastest thing on the planet but all that does not make up for the lack of other features that most all other cars have and nor does it fix the crappy service from Tesla.

I have a 2021 Plaid with 13,000 miles on it. It had zero defects when delivered and, to my eyes, no noticeable panels gaps. A micrometer would probably find some but to the naked eye there were none. This is our fourth Tesla. When the service tech came to change the ac filters on my wife’s 3 (1st service after 4 years and 30,000 miles. Cost: $75) I mentioned the surprising build quality on my S. He said he’s seen few problems with them and he sees a lot of Teslas. On the issue of charging vs gas station fill up, folks should ask how often they drive more than 2-300 miles a day because that’s the only time you need to use a supercharger, at least if you have home charging. They should then think about all the fill ups they won’t need. For most folks it’s once a week. That’s 52 times a year you won’t be stopping for gas vs a few times a year you will need a longer stop to charge an EV.

Fit & Finish - better than expected. Some minor panel gap issues, but nothing too noticeable. My roof glass was damaged prior to delivery and needed to be replaced. I've noticed some wind noise from it being improperly sealed and have scheduled service to fix the issue. Driving Dynamics - Handles well despite its size and weight. Great acceleration. Not sure the Plaid would be worth the premium once the novelty wears off. The LR is incredibly fast. Range - 405 miles on a full charge. Easy to charge at home overnight (off-peak rates) and the supercharger network is still miles ahead of non-Tesla. Safety - Breaks too aggressively in auto steer. Automatic high beams activate when there are other cars in sight. Auto wipers are terrible at matching wiper speed to amount of rain. Steering yoke, turn signals, wipers, etc. took some getting used to, but after a few weeks are perfectly fine. Storage - Plenty of storage space in the trunk. Center console has useful storage compartments. Cup holders are too small for most reusable water bottles, but fine for to-go drinks. Infotainment - I thought I'd really miss Apple CarPlay, but I really don't. The screen is intuitive, very responsive and easy to configure. Netflix, YouTube, etc. is great when using a supercharger. Sound system is also excellent. Overall Impression - The Model S has been great to drive and own. I'm happy with my purchase decision.

Love this car! Have had the 3P and the YP and this takes the cake, not even a fair apples to apples comparison. People on here complain about the stupidest things. This car is my absolute favorite to drive hands down, owned many cars and this one is just a dream. I do with the horn was actually a horn, hitting that small button for the horn is quite distracting but thats about it.

Best Car We've Ever Owned

We had a great experience with a Tesla Model 3 for a few years and decided to upgrade the Model S Long Range. Pro's: The air suspension makes a huge difference in ride quality combined with a quiet interior makes it feel like you're floating. The performance of the car is incredible, it handles well and is lightening quick! Pre-purchase the yoke was my biggest concern. After driving a few thousand miles with it I've grown to love it. Better field of view and easy to use with a nice flat bottom area to rest your hands. The yoke's solid grip works well when you let loose on windy country roads. Voice commands work really well, and I'm now used to not having a stalk. I really appreciate the turn-signal auto shutoff when you complete the lane change is slick. The tech for this car is the best in the industry. From battery to infotainment. Plenty of range for us to cart the kids around, shop and travel anywhere. We love the fact that the instrument panel screen free's up the main 17" screen. We get a giant map for directions! That's a nice improvement from the Model 3. Spotify works well as does Netflix and the games. The touch screen is simple to use and extremely responsive. Tesla pioneered the over the air software updates for cars. We look forward to updates every month or so. Model 3/S keep getting better. Zoom conferencing coming soon! The only iPhone app we miss are the Waze speed trap and obstacle warnings. Purchased FSD, waiting in the queue. Bought it as Autopilot was pretty good in the 3 (though far from perfect.) Cons: My Wife & I share the car, but the profiles don't always seem to sync properly. The auto-high beams are a bit too erratic on the freeway. Autopilot does have the occasional phantom break still which hopefully FSD will address. The trunk had a small gap on one side that shouldn't happen for a car in this price range. Outside of that the build is solid. The horn button was a dumb idea. They are supposed to push an update to address this. Final thoughts: Highly recommend if it's in the budget. We loved the Model 3 but the S is now the best car we've ever driven or owned!

The back privacy cover is missing, licence plate holder was also missing, even the front camera is missing or doesn't work straight from the factory new off the line. With no front camera many safety devices are not working including cruise control? I am so disappointed with the horrible steering wheel with all the controls coming on and off as you turn a corner as your hand or fingers hit them accidentally . The steering wheel and controls are dangerous almost causing accidents on every trip. Can we get our money back? I had a Jaguar Ipace First edition it was amazing with 10 times the class compared to this vehicle. I called service 3 times now there is no service with Tesla? The wait is weeks and they are a mobile service. This experience and lack of service is unbelievable to me. I have ordered the Cybertruck and will now pull out of this deal if this is the product Tesla puts out. So disappointed.

2023 Tesla Model S Plaid 4dr Sedan AWD (electric DD)
5 of 7 people found this review helpful

As a disappointed owner of the Tesla Model S Plaid, I must caution prospective buyers about the numerous shortcomings of this vehicle. Upon delivery, I was dismayed to find paint imperfections and noticeable gaps in the panels, indicative of subpar manufacturing standards. Throughout my ownership, I encountered a litany of electrical issues, from software glitches to malfunctioning components, which marred the driving experience and eroded my confidence in the car's reliability. Despite its hefty price tag, the interior of the Model S Plaid lacks the craftsmanship expected in a luxury vehicle. Cheap materials and shoddy assembly detract from the overall appeal, leaving me feeling shortchanged for my investment. Admittedly, the Model S Plaid delivers impressive acceleration, but harnessing its power on the road requires costly aftermarket upgrades to enhance control and handling—a disappointing necessity for a car of this caliber. Equally disappointing is Tesla's service center experience. Lacking in customer service and refinement, these centers make you feel like you're dealing with a budget brand rather than a premium automaker. The lack of attention to detail and professionalism further underscore the Model S Plaid's shortcomings. In conclusion, while the Tesla Model S Plaid may dazzle with its speed, it falls short in delivering the quality and luxury expected in its price range, making it a regrettable choice for discerning buyers.

I currently own a 2021 Model S. Web site shows this model get 402 Miles per charge, however, since you can only charge to 90% that knocks off 40 miles and you can't go below 20%, so do the math. I charge at home using a Tesla charger and my maximum charge has decreased steadily since I purchased the car in Sept, 2021. Max charge at 90% started off at approximately 340 miles per 90% charge. A year later I am down to 299 Miles per 90% charge and it decreases on each charge. Try getting in contact with ANYONE at Tesla to ask simple questions. Virtually IMPOSSIBLE. The Tesla support model is the worst I ever experienced, especially for a car that is so expensive. I've trying calling their so-call support line only to get instructed to book an appointment via the app. I did finally get their automated system to direct me to a representative only yo be on hold over 45 minutes. Very frustrating

The excitement hides many flaws

I bought new a ‘22 Tesla S Plaid, with all the options. The car looks nice on the outside, I think is beautiful. On the inside is quite basic for the price point but is smart in several ways; the air conditioning is well designed, the seats are fine and adjust well, and the infotainment is great, very likely the best of the industry. Acceleration is nothing short of amazing. And that’s it, it excites you if you like cars. Now the problems. Paint quality is very bad, it dents with very little… the wheels as well, look around teslas on the street and look at their wheels…brakes need a big improvement, the plaid doesn’t have the breaks it needs, I believe is dangerous, I have two sports cars of traditional brands and the gap in breaking is big. Also remember this is a very heavy car. After a month a noisy squeak noise started at breaking and reversing, the app for service even has an option for squeaky noises.. the interior of the car and the body started to make little noises while driving that you don’t see at cars at this price point in my experience. In summary this is a car with an acceleration of a $150k car, a great infotainment, a body work of a $20k car and not the right brakes. Autonomy is decent though. An strange product. It feels like it will age poorly.

Totally fraudulent sales process. Do your homework before even considering purchasing a new car from Tesla. New 2023 Tesla Model S, the GPS and Camera software didn’t work, car computer needed to be replaced, Premium Software package doesn’t work even when paid for, roof rack was installed with missing parts, door seal needed to be replaced, window needed to be replaced because it leaked rain from the outside. Horrible experience. This was all in the first 45 days of ownership. Now I am trying to cancel the deal through Lemon Laws.

Plaid - Fast, poor tech reliability, awful service

No longer an owner, 01/19/2022
2021 Tesla Model S Plaid 4dr Sedan AWD (electric DD)
6 of 10 people found this review helpful

Cons: 1) Delivered brand new with a faulty front cruise sensor after waiting in line for 6 months. Rendered cruise functions unusable with error message. Took 8 phone calls to call center to receive a phone call back from service center. 2 visits to showroom were zero help. 2) Door vibrates from day 1. 3) Computer functions stop working without cause at least once a week, have to reset the car. 4) Headlight went out at 4 months, $2200 repair claiming “collision”, voiding warranty. No collision and no structural damage, likely damaged in transit but Tesla refused to take responsibility. 5) Tesla chargers were out of stock for months, but you can pay an extra $300 for them on eBay because they sell them to non-owners. 6) Service appts are commonly 3-week waits. 7) Updates occur frequently. 8) App to unlock/connect to car only worked after continually deleting and reloading on phone. Pros: 1) It’s fast and kids think it’s cool. 2) Don’t have to stop as gas station. This company’s service continues to decline, and when buying a $150K+vehicle (I have owned many), you expect far more than this joke. This trend will die or changes will be made.

Horrible - Tesla bought it back

They don’t let you test drive the actual unit you’re buying. That should have been a red flag but I decided to trust Tesla given its reputation. On delivery day I drive off and immediately notice vibration in the steering column and cruise control doesn’t work. Five service visits and about 90 days later, Tesla ends up buying it back. Lots of other issues but in general… my experience was disappointing to say the least. In the end, they did what was right and for that I still respect Tesla, but will never buy another car from them.

Got car in Dec 2021. Build quality was great. some squeeking from back seats fixed with gaffers tape. Driver car handle broke and was fixed with a few visits to Tesla. Had car xpel wrapped in front and ceramic coated. One nit pick.. rims scrape easily if you brush a curb since the rim and tire are at the same depth (Pirelli tires) $150 dollars to repair each time. . Full self driving is fantastic.. the car takes me anywhere with very little oversite. I have solar panels and a charger at home, free costs to charge the car thanks to the solar panel. I added an ecohitch and can take my bike (or e-bikes) with a Thule bike rack. Car looks fantastic. Full AI driving is coming which will make the already good driving system better human like driving.

The speed is what gets all the headlines, but just as important, the Plaid is an amazingly comfortable, quiet, practical cruiser/daily driver, with an astoundingly good audio system and some of the best in-cabin technology on the market. It's difficult to imagine what anyone could need in a daily driver that this car cannot deliver (except of course V-8 "vroom-vroom" sounds, but I don't miss that at all). The fact that it's roughly half the price of comparable performance sedans, EV or otherwise, is the icing on the cake!

Upgraded my 5 year old Model 3 to a Model S earlier this month. Shopped around and drove the competition, i5 MX60, i4, Lucid and Audi E-tron. Decided to go with Tesla S after all the research because of the quality of the ride, the improved interior (no yoke!!) and the charging network for longer trips. After one month, my wife and I are very pleased. No problems with fit and finish. Car handles beautifully and is fast (!!!). Much quieter and much less bumpy ride than the Model 3. It feels much more stable and solid compared to the 3. While it does not have the refinement of the i5, its plenty good enough and at $74,000, a relative bargain, and a good $20,000 less than a loaded i5 MX60, with at least 100 miles of extra range on a full charge and a very comparable ride quality. We ordered the cream interior which is beautiful and a welcome addition to the all black or the black and white domino interior. The range is not quite as advertised as it is winter in New England but on my home charger, I get up to 80%/320 miles on an overnight charge. Haven't gone to a supercharger yet. The enhanced touch screen is beautiful and the sound system special. Would still love Apple Car Play but they have added Apple Music and Podcasts which is excellent and easy to access. I avoided the Enhanced AutoPilot which I did not use much on my Model 3 and which was not worth the $$. Tesla can still be a bit weird with the delivery process and ordering but all in all, I think the Model S still is the leader of the pack despite what many say......more to follow with more mileage.

I traded in my 2018 Model S and purchased a new 2023 Model S in September 2023. In many ways I wish I had not. Tesla removed the ultrasonic sensors and replaced them with additional cameras which have been a huge step backwards. The new system is called TeslaVision, which frankly stinks. Many of the features I paid for are not available such as: remote summons, park assist, and auto lane change. The blind spot monitoring system is terrible. Phantom braking can still an issue. Lastly, I am not a fan of stalkless controls on the steering wheel. Frequently (and particularly at night) I find myself searching for the “right” button either to flash my headlights or turn on the wipers. Thank goodness I’ve never had to honk the horn. The sales experience was the worst I’ve ever experienced. The only way to reach customer service was via txt messages. In addition, Tesla owned me money and it took nearly 4 weeks for them to EFT the funds back to my bank account, even though I had no trouble uploading my final payment within seconds. I loved my 2018 Model S. I do not like this car.

From the moment you get in, you feel like you have entered a spaceship. It’s clear the same mind that makes rocket ships and flies astronauts to the ISS also made this. That’s before you even hit the accelerator pedal. At that point, everything you see and feel is instantly behind you. Truly the most exhilarating ride of your life. 0-60 in 1.9s. If you take a ride and still think Edmunds has any idea what they’re talking about, you might have a few screws loose.

I prepaid for the self-driving package years in advance, and finally, I got just a  beta version, a few weeks later I was hit by a car, and the Tesla immediately caught fire. The car was totaled, so I decided to go down and buy a new Tesla. I was surprised to find out that now they want an additional $15,000 prepaid for self-driving software,  even though I had bought it before and never got to use it. I complained over and over and got the BS that it was impossible to transfer to a new vehicle. Like an idiot, I bought a new Model S,  Then I was in shock to find out just days later after delivery that Tesla is offering a transfer of self-driving software now if you buy  Tesla this quarter. All the salesperson had to do is tell me to wait like five days. but they kept up the lie, no transferring But the greedy Elon/Tesla still won't transfer mine.  No appreciation for returning clients. I will never buy a Tesla Again. FYI the 405-mile range is more like 250.Also, the cars catch fire very easily  Advice, never ever pay the $15,000 for self-driving, if you get hit or the car burns, you're out the $15,000 for the software, even after only one day, and insurance companies do not cover the software So very disappointed in Tesla and Elon.

2021 Model S Plaid OMG

I have purchased a 2021 model S plaid stealth gray with 21 in. Arachnoid rims. I have previously owned a 550 hp Mustang GT that I thought was fast, it had been lowered and modified for driving with suspension modifications. From the perspective of power I can only say the tesla model S plaid has insane acceleration, I doubt there is much on the street that can out run you. So from the power spec perspective it is a 5+*. I have now seen a lot of reviews, talk about fitment and body issues but I can only speak about the 1 I have which is perfect I do not know what they got or what their knowledge is or what they expect but the what I have is just perfect there is no issue. From the driving perspective it handles as good or better than the Mustang, with a $20,000 after market suspension on it. And I can even modify the tesla for better performance. While the interior is relatively plain, that is what you would want, the things that are there are great I think there is an incredible amount of storage in the cabin and in the trunk and Frunk certainly way more than the Mustang had. I have had service come to me twice they have been incredibly helpful on time made extra recommendations to help as well as advising me about better options. I have not had any power train problems at this time. From my perspective since I bought a used Tesla plaid that caused me about the same as my new Mustang in 2013 I feel that I got an incredible deal and I would rate his car as a 5*. The car feels great to drive very comfortable the vision and room classrooms are all fantastic. I would say personally I am not big fan of the yoke but 1 has to remember that formula 1 cars use a yoke. I would agree that the screen layout could be better and I am think it would be better if it were closer I am a call person but it is still a just at the limit of my reach when I am actually driving. I would love to see a little more aerodynamic possibly factory lowering, larger spoiler in the back and more carbon fiber outside but then that is just me.

One thing reviews seem to neglect a lot is efficiency. This is one of the most efficient EV cars on the road. So few cars can match its range AND efficiency. I have had Teslas since 2018. A model 3, a Model X and this Model S. I’ve visited the Service center once for cracked rear window on Model 3 and have not been back since. Tesla has taken a long time to get gremlins out of auto highbeam, auto wipers and FSD. They have been nailing it lately. Even adding an auto trunk opening when you stand in the back. You don’t even have to kick the car. And Rear cross path too (not as good as true radar based cross path but not bad) Doggy mode is one of my favorite features and won’t own another car without it. Yoke is great too. If I did order another Tesla I would choose the Yoke again. Took forever to get used to blinkers but I’m good now. And newer cars fixed the horn placement. I keep looking for alternatives because I don’t like being associated with the CEO any more. But honestly nothing can touch this car. The only car that beats it on range and efficiency is Lucid. But Lucid is dreadfully behind on the tech. Even the premium audio systems have quality issues. And Rivian efficiency is a joke.
