Great customer experience buying, driving, owning!

Needed a new car. I had no intention of buying an EV, let alone a Tesla. My wife wanted to check out EVs, so I reluctantly agreed. First we drove some plug-in hybrids. Meh. Then she showed me the price of a Model 3 and I agreed to test drive it. 1. You schedule test drive via online. We found it super convenient. Knew exactly when and where we would be test driving, no waiting in car lot for some idiot car salesman. 2. Sign in, Tesla rep greets us and lets us look around, then explains to us how to use the features. No sales pushing, just answering all our questions. 3. Supposed to be a 30 min test drive, we couldn’t stop, went for an hour. It was thought changing. I went from being EV skeptic, to Tesla enthusiast in 60 min. 4. Went online and bought a car that afternoon. Again, no scumbag slimy car salesman, everything straight forward and easy. 5. Did have to download the app to finish the process to fill out the paperwork. But, this was fine, do it from living room couch rather than in a cra##y office with some sales idiot bugging you to buy some stupid extras. 6. The only hiccup, app prompts you to pay before picking up car. I just messaged in the app that I preferred to see car before paying. Response, “No problem.” 7. Pickup fast efficient trouble free. People were great. The whole experience left us thinking,” this all works together so well. Everything is well thought out and customer experience well thought out.” Car is just a pleasure to drive. Fun, fast, quiet, fast, handles well. Relaxing to drive in traffic. With tax credits, cheaper than a Camry. We did get a wall charger, makes the ownership sooo much better. Just plug it in every night and never worry about range for normal commuting. Day three, first day commuting, we got a weird rock ding and broke front passenger door window. Got home. Called service (they answered fast) and the recommended using app to schedule service. (They offered to schedule over phone, but I wanted to try the app). Tried it, flawless to schedule service. Asked you to describe problem, take some pics and submit. Within minutes, got a message that a mobile appointment was scheduled. App asked for insurance, and that was it. Tech showed up in service time. Fixed window fast, answered a bunch of questions we had about features and then was off. No muss, no fuss. Mobile service was AWESOME! Oh, total cost to us was $0. Fit and finish great Driving in rain great 500 mile road trip with family of four great. Total cost, $16. Time at supercharger, 14 min from 30% to 95%. People complain about no car play/android auto, non issue. Tesla navigation is outstanding. Phone Bluetooth connects for calls. Connectivity lets you connect to streaming services you subscribe to. Don’t care about carplay/android auto anymore, it’s irrelevant. You do have to take some time to learn how to use everything but it’s time well spent as there’s sooo much there for you to tailor the car to how you want things. Tesla Model 3 LWD/AWD. Two months, 2000 miles. Loving it. Can’t wait for our other car to have an issue, so we can justify getting a model Y.

We've had it for almost 2 months and 3,000 miles. It was a touch overwhelming at first. There is a learning curve. Nothing a few minutes with the owners manual can't fix. My wife and I are both hooked. going back to a gas car is like considering going back to rotary dial desk phone or black and white TV. Smooth, quiet, quick, comforitable. plenty of range. It's ready to go for the wife @ 5am - full charge and the cabin is at her preferred temp. It costs us $2.40 a day for her to drive the 50 miles to work and back. There are a few complaints. The wife doesn't like the headlights on auto dim because she thinks it dims to often and prefers to do it herself. The wipers can be a little fussy on auto as well. But Ive never seen a car that is perfect on auto. The headlights are incredible. bright, white and wide angle of view. The back-up cameras are very nice. good view, clear pictures large display. One pedal driving is the only way to drive. (It has 2 pedals, brake and acceleator. you can drive by only using the acc pedal though). my biggest complaint is I hate driving my 8 yro smelly, noisy, vibrating old fashion gas car now. If you want a car like your dad's ole buick you probably won't like a tesla. If you approach it with an open mind, then the fact that this car does things differently, and mostly better but sometimes just different, won't bother you. **after 10 months nothing has really changed. If anything we have grown to like it even more. We've done a couple road trips of 200+ miles. No problems. Getting off the main interstate the chargers are fewer but we've had no difficulties so far. We didn't even really need to switch from the 110V charger to 220. At 10,000 miles we had spent $600 charging it, including super charging (~14%) *****1 year plus and 18,000 miles later. We have only grow to like and enjoy the car more. Our actaul cost for electric is about $0.20/kwh so we spend about $60/month to drive. yes, this is how much our elctric bill went up. Balanced against this a decrease in gas costs of about $200/month. Our old car would have needed 4 oil changes at this point @ $70 each and there was usually something else added on top - bulb, filter replaced etc. It goes well in the snow, a concern of my wifes. The light for wiper fluid came on yesterday making, I think, the 4th gallon of fluid needed. It's needed nothing, given no problems and the periodic updates have added features it didn't have and improved others. Love it. My wife is head over heels for it. It's been nothing but impressive.

A good car gets much better

Lensman, 12/04/2024
2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance 4dr Sedan AWD (electric DD)
12 of 14 people found this review helpful

This is my second Tesla Model 3 Performance. I got my first, a 2020 model, in December 2019 and put 90,000 miles on it with negligible battery degradation and a like-new interior. My 2024 model, which I got two months ago, is my ninety-first car. I have owned just about every type of car that exists, I believe, and this is my favorite. I thought my first Model 3 was close to perfect, but this one is orders of magnitude better. Much quieter, much better ride, and because of the adaptive suspension much better handling in sport mode. Race mode is better still but useful mainly for track work with multiple handling adjustments available. The air-conditioned sport seats corrected the lack of lateral support in my first car's seats. The sound system is much better even though the 2020's was very good. One weakness of the earlier EV's was the heating system which was merely electrical strip heat. This reduced winter range by my measurements about 25%. I guess the massive heat loss of ICE engines is good for something. The new models have a heat pump which is much more efficient. I live in the south, so we've just had our first week of cold weather, but I don't detect any difference from summer with the A/C on. One thing that Tesla reviewers seem to gripe about is the elimination of control stalks on the steering column. It did take me a few hours to get my muscle memory retrained to put on turn signals with a touch of my thumbs on the steering wheel but now I find it intuitive and like a fighter plane you have HOTAS(hands on throttle and stick) and never have to release and regrasp the wheel. It's not perfection for all people. It's different. But to have a car that handles as well as my old Porsche Carrera S, accelerates 0-60 3 seconds quicker and 3 seconds faster in the quarter mile than my 1969 AMX 390, my 1967 Corvette, my 1968 SS396, and my 1972 Hemi Cuda, while riding better than Lexus LS 400, my Infiniti Q45, and my 2010 Mercedes S class, it comes close.

Say goodbye to gas forever

I bought my first EV, the dual-motor Model 3, in March of 2020. I already knew enough about this car because a friend had one. But five minutes into the test drive and I was sold. I called it life changing, because it was like driving into the future. It's unlike anything I'd ever driven in the most sensory way, from the instant torque, the glass roof, and the minimalist design and software integration. No more acceleration lag like my Infiniti EX had. Pick out a spot you want to be on the road and you are there in short order. The experience of buying online (no dealer BS) and all of the service interactions I've had since then are top notch. It was a tad better when half as many people owned Tesla's, but for me there is no going back to legacy OEMs and the dealership model. Mobil service rangers are the best thing ever. Drove from Denver to Joshua Tree during Covid. No issues at all. Just pure enjoyment.

Sensors glitching, GPS shows wrong speed etc

Got my 2025 Model 3 in november 2024 and liked it a lot at the beginning until i started facing glitches here and there. Overall they did a good interior ugrade in comparison to the priveous year model 3, performance is great but sensors give me alarms when they shouldnt like driving at 10-15 miles an hour getting closer to the traffic light to make a right turn i was following the car driving at the same speed and it was over 25 ft away when my car started giving me an alarm of collision. WHY? same thing happened quite a few times and guess what, it reflects my safety score which automatically reflects my insurance premium that i pay. Someone cuts off in front of me - same thing - it reflects on my safety score and my insurance premium. Getting off the hwy and dropping the speed - it is considered by tesla as hard braking - also reflects on my safety and insurance premium. Besides that GPS doesnt show correct speed limit. Traveling on i90 in suburbs where the speed limit is 70 and the car shows 60. Tesla customer support is terrible - stay on the line for hours to wait for your call to be answered. No online live support - Nothing. with all these negative things i started looking how to get rid of this car but the only way is to pay my remaining 33 months left in me lease term. If i knew about all these negative sides of Model 3 i would probably never even take it. It might be because it is a renewed car and some things are not working right yet and they are improving them. But i got tired of it and unfortunately got stuck with it untill the end of the lease, which is another 33 months.

This is NOT the 2023 and earlier Model 3. I don't know why people are posting about that version in the 2024 review. I'd driven the 2022- and I hated it. The 2024 All-Wheel has been shipping ONLY since THIS MONTH- June. So no reviews on Tesla 3's from before June are remotely relevant. I am a longtime BMW driver- I've had 28 of them, from sedan to SUV to sports car- some 2 wheel, some 4 wheel, some M. This NEW 2024 Model 3, a totally different car to the 2023 Model 3, is absolutely fantastic. It is the best sports sedan I've ever driven. The upgraded stereo is much better than BMW's upgrade (you get a better stereo with the dual motor versions- so this is NOT a review of the single-motor "base" model", but rather the dual motor). I also drove the "Performance"- and there is no reason to get that model (unless you plan to go to the track). Car & Driver just tested the Extended Range Dual Motor, and got 0-60 in 4 seconds flat (Tesla says 4.2- they got 4.0). That is as fast as you need a sedan to be- and I'm a die hard car guy. As with any electric, the power is immediate and by the time you can breathe you are at 60mph, breaking the law... I purchased aftermarket shades for the roof glass- I live in Vegas- and they popped right in and fit perfectly- cost: $39 on Amazon. I also purchased a wheel kit- lug nut covers and center caps- and removed the aero covers. The rims look MUCH better at a small cost to efficiency- supposedly about 10 miles on a complete charge. I drive this car just for errands, around town- so, not much mileage- and just plug it into my garage 110 socket. It fully charges by the time I need to use it again. The price of this car (lease of you can- because, who knows what the depreciation will REALLY be!) with the tax rebate was... Toyota-like. Shocking how much car you get for the $. The biggest downside is, unlike other electric cars that still operate like cars, this is a computer. So you have to learn a whole new way of operating the car. There is a learning curve that will involve YouTube videos. The best ones are not Teslas- they have not updated the vids since the prior model- they are the ones by enthusiasts. Example- I could not figure out how to open the glovebox- in desperation I simply said "Open the glovebox"- and boom- it popped right open. Unlike Hal in 2001, the Telsa WILL open the pod bay door. Other things- when I went to pull the plug out of the car, of course it would not pull out. You have to go to the app and release it- it locks in place for many good reasons. I still have a beautiful BMW SUV- my wife's car, with only 6500 miles on it- but it seems primative by comparison. And did I mention the stereo in this Telsa model? Anyway, there is a solution to everyone's issue with the car- there are even a bunch of aftermarket screens you can add to the dash if you can't get used to glancing to the right (several for under $200). Adding the sunscreens to the glass roof is essential if you live someplace like Vegas. They remove in seconds, so I'll take them off in the winter. Look, they don't have their complete "game" on- they are hard to get ahold of, etc- but the showroom/purchase experience is very different. No scent of desperation- and regardless of my feeling about Musk (after all, I have NO idea of the politics of the guy who runs Kia, or Porsche, or BMW- we all know Musk because he has no filter), the people who work in my local dealership are happy. No commissions, no pressure- and it looks like the United Nations in there- very diverse. I'm supporting THEM, not Musk. So all in all, LOVE the car, absolutely fantastic- not for everyone, but perfect for my needs. And we still have my wife's car for road trips. I'm not interested in public charging.... UPDATE: So far, a few software updates have added new cool features! Still just charging in my garage, using a standard 110 outlet. Same minor "complaints"- (1) should have a heads up display, and (2) should have a sliding screen for the glass roof. But for the money- fantastic car. Period.

After 12k miles - The Latest

Just in! Wow, I read that Tesla is offering to add a turn stalk for $350 in China. Once they work out the bugs, I sure hope they give their US customers a similar or better offer. Conclusion. Best car I ever owned (including Porsche, Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes) Tesla fixed or added via wireless updates, most if not all my issues. For example, they added more music apps, allow buttons to change FSD from Chill/Standard/Hurry, gave me a lease buyout option, added rear traffic alert, plus a host of other new features, like digital high beam adjustments, auto shift into drive and reverse, charging stats, and routing options. I enjoy driving it, or, letting it drive me. The steering, acceleration, and seats are the most comfortable for short or long distance. Is it perfect? No, but give them time. No EV or Gas car is this advanced. The remaining annoying features are all on or not on the steering wheel. Namely, no turn signal stalk and the thumb wheel ridge is not elevated enough to toggle to the left or right. Most of the time it behaves like a button and turns other things on or off. So, I’m a very happy Tesla owner, despite what all the nay sayers say. And I was once one of them. =======/ Tesla fixed or added the majority of my initial issues. They added more music apps, The Good. It’s a great car to drive. Acceleration is the best (no one beats me at the light). We took it on a long distance trip and the superchargers worked as planned. The location is always great and never full. Recently added Sirius XM, which I prefer over Tidal and other newcomers that cannot be customized. New backup alert feature and car will automatically start in drive, reverse, or both as needed. Never need to touch the shift. Fun features like Santa mode changes cars to sled and reindeer, and listen to car music from external speakers while washing it. The Bad The latest FSD update allows you to activate from your garage. It's like an old lady backing out, stops 10 feet before a bush, then, turns left when the GPS show's right. It also stops in front of the house on the street when it returns, instead of in driveway. Beta with a capital B. There is also a blind spot in the rear that blocks vehicles immediately behind you due to its high end. The cupholders are way too tight for a simple can, and some of our Yeti cups won’t fit. I tried the new Summons feature a few times, and it was always awkward. Both were in a parking lot. What you can’t control is how other drivers will respond as it backs out. First time, another car also backed out and moved forward, while my Telsa was creeping along slowly. I got an error message when it could not backup or go forward. I had to walk to my car while the driver waited for me. AS* is right. Cool idea but not practical, even with the new distance adjustments. You also cannot switch between cruise control and full self driving without making a software selection from the screen. It should be a button selection but I suspect lawyers are behind the idea inconvenience. The Ugly The lack of a turning stalk is an over-engineered mistake. I've tried all the tricks and mind games, but, try turning right then an immediate left with lots of traffic. It's not easy clicking the blinker when the wheel is upside down. The cheapest component are the floor mats that don’t stick to the carpet because of cheap and small fasteners that aren’t velcro or snaps, or rubber backed for weight. I see Tesla added back the turn stalk to the new Model Y, but say the Model 3 buyer doesn’t need one. Is that a forward or back handed salute, Elon? Bottom Line Overall, I can't think of a better car or app for the money. It's quick, good looking, comfortable seats, great app, excellent charging, fun to drive, and clearly the best technology of any car. Sure, you can buy an EV, but they are just electrified gas counterparts. You drive it like a gas car FSD still can't be beat, despite articles rating Tesla the worst in fatalities. I’ve personally had it try to run stop lights going down a hill. I reported it a few times and it’s still not fixed. If Elon really wants to make his customers happy, fix the cheap floor mat "velco" corners that don't stick, and offer a turning stalk option in exchange for removing all other physical controls we were forced to learn and use. The software updates are amazing and deliver new apps and functionality over the air. It’s like a new car each time. Despite the excellent software and analytics, Tesla doesn’t display monthly miles. Why not? I read about a 10% FSD use discount for Tesla car insurance, so I got a quote. It was more than my insurance for 2 vehicles. No thanks. Meanwhile, I continue to get glares from all the negative press about DOGE-gone Elon. Who’s manning the shop? Resale value is in the toilet due to him. When my lease is up, it’s all his. He can take a chainsaw to it.

The Worst - MAYBE

I have owned dozens of luxury cars throughout my life. The standard 2023 model 3 is the worst auto purchase (actually lease) I have ever made. The online buying experience was a nightmare. Tesla is there for you all the way until they have your money, then they are gone with the wind. Everything is done online but you can wait a week for a simple response. The build quality of the car is horrible. Panel gaps, paint issues and more. It’s beyond frustrating. Since there is no dealership to take the car to, your frustration just mounts. I gave up a $50,000 loaded Q3 for the potential fun of an EV. Biggest mistake I ever made. Charging is another issues. I put a Tesla wall connector in my garage. It’s great but cost $1,000 with installation. Tesla does not care about their customers. They hype up the car and feed into the desirability aspects of the Tesla enthusiast. But for the average car buyer, you have to be out of your mind. Stay with ICE until you have to switch. And make sure there is a person to talk to and a dealership to go to. UPDATE after 5 weeks. Well everything I said about the customer service and pretty much everything else remains. However, after 5 weeks of ownership and a massive learning curve as it relates to all things technology and the dozens of settings and all the things you need to figure out, then learn, then implement, I gotta say I love this car. After all the bad stuff, this car is awesome. Most fun I’ve ever had driving a car and the small issues with paint and build quality I’ve sort of gotten over. The car drives like a dream. And the rear wheel model3 standard is the Best Buy for the money by far. I did get the $7500. discount which is what prompted me to begin with. The in the garage charging is awesome. No more gas stations. Love it. Actually starting to love the whole car!

The car's performance and feel are amazing. I love driving this car. Had it for 16 months and still look forward to getting into it. The ONLY criticism I have is the road noise is a little more than some luxury cars.

Material & Build Quality is extremely poor

I recently purchased Model 3 (15 April 2023). After a few days of driving (mostly to groceries and Kumon - no long journeys or high speed rides), On 23 April 2023, I saw a crack on wind shield starting vertically from the center bottom all the way to the center and running horizontally. I raised a Tesla service from mobile app, the Tesla Technician inspected and reported that the crack is due to some kind of impact. I am not convinced for following reasons, firstly, the point of impact (it is on the black portion of the windshield sitting behind the wipers), secondly, barely a chip is seen coming out (cannot feel by running a finger on the impact area), thirdly, I can see some uneven dashboard fittings (seen from inside the cabin) which seems to creating tension on the windshield and be the reason for crack. Tesla has denied covering windshield replacement under warranty. I am pretty sure that even if I get it replaced, the new windshield is going to crack again since it it seems to me a manufacturing defect.

After owning a Leaf for 8 years, I was ready to move up to an electric car that I could drive for long trips. My Model 3 is fun to drive, even for a grandmother who is mostly interested in its practicality. My 17 month old grandson loves the sunroof over his car seat. He happily watches the view and doesn’t complain, even when we are stuck in traffic. His car seat and both of his parents can be buckled in the back seat when we all need to fit in one car. I hope to never go back to gas stations or oil changes!

Service SUCKS

Car ride is stiff, interior makes a lot of noise. Blinkers on these are wonky and like to shut off prematurely. Cruise control is one of the worst ones ive ever used, self braking constantly. Biggest hang up is service. 1 hour job, tell me to expect to leave it 7 hours come fully charged and they can't let you charge it at the actual tesla center. Well when service is 2 hours away it turns into 11 hours to fix a simple trunk gap. They also take forever to send you registration/title. My temporary tag expired, called the dmv and Tesla hadn't submitted anything to the dmv 45 days in. Car was fully paid off. I traded it in and both me and another car dealer are waiting for tesla to do the registration/title still. They're not ready for the amount of owners they took on.

Value for Performance and Efficiency

JSanek, 05/13/2023

This car is pure joy and fun. Hard to match the value and performance of the vehicle with ICE cars. It will just go, and go lightning fast as simple as possible. No need to worry about burning though ga$$ as you step on it. Just plug it in and you get to do it again and again for a fraction of the cost of a performance gas car. Your range will suffer a bit when driving like this, but you have the option to maintain efficiency in chill driving mode. Works well as a commuter car, with a more efficient performance aspect when you want it. Step on the gas pedal and that instant torque is unlike anything i have ever felt. Handling and ride is pretty comparative to some german sports cars in my opinion, even though it may feel a bit on the hefty side because of the battery. But the battery weight placed well in the vehicle allows it to be more nimble than you think. No transmission upshifts or spooling is something you will enjoy if you don't mind the charging.

Car is full of rattle

My car is full of rattles and squeaks. I have been to service center 6 times now and they still are not able to get rid of it. The car does not have a Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert which should be standard for such a luxury tier pricing car. It does not have Apple Carplay or Android Auto either. FSD does not work very well and it is overpriced.

I'm thoroughly unimpressed by the Model 3. There are 4 things going for the Tesla. The charging network (will not be an issue moving forward with all manufacturers choosing the NACs charger), the OTA firmware updates, the phone key and software and the space utilization in the trunk and frunk. Everything else is just so bad! The ride is harsh. There is a lot of cabin noise. The Tesla is the epitome of distracted driving with non tactile touch input. Two highly overloaded buttons do little while driving. The voice controls are a joke (as in every car I have used). The smart features are technically very impressive but simply not good enough. The auto lock button takes too long, the smart headlights take too long to go back after dipping. Two years in and still get phantom braking in Adaptive cruise control. Takes too long to brake in cruise control. Too long to speed up after stopping at a traffic light. Wipers can never be set on auto because it uses cameras instead of rain sensors so it starts going wild in bright daylight. Too slow changing speed when it rains. When I'm driving on country roads in the night, the right camera never works. Messages flash in small font on the display. No Android Auto. I was hoping when I bought it that I could side trade into a Ioniq 5 or an EV6 in a couple of years, but the value of the Model 3 has plunged and the Korean cars have depreciated much slower. I don't know what my next car will be, but for sure it won't be a Tesla. Update: Sold the Model 3 at a loss. Leased the Ioniq 5 Limited. Complete opposite experience of the Tesla. Absolutely love the car and ride. Tesla is just so much better in the phone software and profiles. Single Pedal driving on Tesla is much better. No OTA firmware updates. That's about it. *Every* other thing is just so much better.

Although I LOVED the ride, look and premise of the vehicle, I was unable to see the font on the screen. I rarely knew how fast I was going. I personally, at age 62 need better positioning for a true dashboard that I can see without distraction I also missed Carplay. I traded it in and took a loss after only 6 weeks of ownership. I also prefer an operating sun roof For me, the cons outweighed the pros I will not say it wasn't a beautiful and great riding car. I was also disappointed in the frequency of needing charging which stressed me out. It seems as though ant auxiliary equipment such as AC, 360 camera etc are a drain on the battery. I wanted to keep this vehicle, but too stressful for me at this point

Tesla cars always have a technical error which a normal person can’t understand. Tesla’s service call center is sucks. I am driving tesla for more than 1 year. Performance is better than regular car. But maintenance and service support is very bad. When ever i visit service center first they give appointment after 20 days then when you arrive there you have to wait more than 5 hours minimum or just left the car and ride by your own.

I have a Tesla model 3. I like the fact that it's electric, but I don't like the fact that it is operated by computer. For example, the cruise control has an added feature called curvassist that makes it unusable. For $50,000, the car should come with a usable Cruise control. Automatic emergency braking is also sometimes dangerous. Depending upon the circumstances, it may slam on the brakes in the middle of the highway. I wish Tesla either left these computer features out or at least gave the user the option to turn them off. Curvassist apparently cannot be turned off.

Best car I've ever owned!

Performance aside (and is has no shortage of that!), this is the best car I've ever owned. I've owned 24 cars to date. Magically low ongoing cost of ownership. Tesla works every day to make my car better via software updates that are as easy to do as it is on my phone. It has a 5 star + safety rating. It's seat are better that any car I've ever owned. And now, in Full Self Driving (Supervised) mode, it drives much better then most of the drivers I encounter on a daily basis. Plus, when filling up at home, a "tank" of electricity only costs me $9 to go about 300 miles. This refreshed version is quieter, smoother, quicker, faster and better handling than the previous Model 3 Performance. It's fit and finish is also better than my 2020.

I was in love with my Tesla until I scratched the bumper. The insurance is terrible. My car has been in the shop since 8/30/24 - it’s now 9/1924, with no word at all from their insurance - it took more than 10 Days for them to agree to a rental, and that took me going into the showroom and almost crying, and that is only for 30 days. My car has been in the shop now for 3 weeks with no communication. There isn’t a person to talk to, they don’t respond to daily emails or even me sending the estimate for repairs in myself. The body shop said this is normal for Tesla. Apparently other regular insurances are way more on Teslas given their delay on sending and the expense of their parts. Don’t do it- buy something else!

2024 Improvements Tip the Scale

We’ve been simultaneously in awe of, and skeptical of Tesla for years. Awesome sales, and the growing sense that we are missing out on something on one hand. Risks of a new manufacturer, personality and politics in another. We recently took ownership of a 3LR and are thoroughly enjoying the revolutionary approach to driving, design, safety, and technology. There is definitely a visionary “tech/transportation” statement being channeled; ie: minimalism, programmable horn (which includes an extensive range of human flatulency), a light show replete with fanfare crescendos, (and the car’s transformation into a virtual firework), extensive gaming options, and advanced streaming support…as well as way-too-much-power, tight handling and a quiet comfortable cabin. “Nerd,” in a good way, keeps coming to mind as my own inner nerd is activated and inspired. One begins to think differently behind the wheel of a Tesla. It IS paradigm shifting, and it feels ok. The updates for 2024 propelled us. The other hand can sit back and ponder judgement. Which single automotive company has done more to eliminate ICE exhaust poisons? Look around…Teslas are everywhere. Is Tesla a risky venture? No. I know there are people I will be at odds with. I am related to many. I hope by leaning-in we build connections that are not dependent upon a political litmus.

Purchased new March 2023. After driving 8,500 miles. This is my favorite car I've ever owned. Being able to charge at home is a definite bonus and money saver. Great acceleration in the RWD model is impressive. The only negatives is the real world driving range is not what is advertised. When using cruise control the car will break hard at times for no apparent reason. If your able to charge at home or work place I would recommend. Supercharger will cost you about $18.00 +/-

Held back for years but now convinced this is the future. Tesla makes it fun to drive again. My problem with other manufacturers is they are boring and all the same essentially. Quiet, fast, confident drive with plenty space for family of 4. This car is a completely different driving experience and in a futuristic fun way. No more gas cars for me and maybe no other manufacturers but Tesla!

BEWARE - TESLA DOES NOT Stand behind it's Product

BEWARE TESLA LAVAL SERVICE BEWARE. My windshield cracked in multiple places. Service tech tells me that there is an unexplainable point of impact, under the wipers. Cannot be explained and no way any rock could makes its way there. Seeing that it cannot be explained it is automatically my fault. (AMAZING) If that was not enough he proceeded by telling me that there was not one but two rock chips... AND get this they were both along the same crack. Apperently the first rock hit created a crack and than the second rock hit along that same crack!!!! FIRST time I ever here something so absurd. I am wondering if the guy was not a comedian working as a Tesla tech part time. TESLA if you have no intention backing up your product at least do not waste the customers time!!! People have enough of a busy life, they do not need to waste an hour or two going to get a bogus assement. Just tell them the windshield is not covered no matter what happened. Honesty is all we need. We all got screwed purchasing this thing you call a car and now have to live with it until we could get rid of it. In the meantime spare us the garbadge, don't waste our time........... BEWARE TESLA LAVAL BEWARE

Quiet, Smooth, Comfortable, Powerful, Accurate. In regard to its design and intended purpose, this car is a game-changer. It feels leap years ahead of other modern cars. You are spoiled by convenience safety and tech features in such an integrated and thoughtful way. It just does all the things you take for granted so well. You only notice when you jump into another vehicle and basic everyday maneuvers seem difficult all of the sudden. From leaving the house first thing in the morning, to executing my 2 hr commute, to getting back home calm and relaxed (for the first time ever), this car is truly remarkable. Just do a demo drive and decide for yourself. You truly have nothing to lose, but an unnecessary reliance on gas. It’s just the best tool for my long stressful commute, hands down, no contest, it’s not even close. I couldn’t be happier with it so far. Final thoughts are the base sound system sounds excellent. There’s plenty of power by choosing the rear wheel drive base trim, and it’s so quick quiet and comfortable in the cabin, I just don’t want to get out of the car whenever I get where I’m going. The out the door price/cost was relatively low for how good this vehicle really is.

Fun to drive, but annoying to have to look away from the road to see the "instrument panel" and tremendously frustrating to be denied access to my own frigging car when the phone key mysteriously doesn't work - would be a major problem in an emergency. Tesla is too cute with re-engineering things that work just fine. Took months to get the rear window replaced with no real dealerships. Our other car, Ionic 6, is a better option - just as fun to drive and if I have a problem, I can go to the dealership.

The new model 3 is really naliing it with its fresh design. At first, you might wonder about not having the usual levers behind the steering wheel for signals and stuff, but it turns out, it’s totally fine! Everything you need is either on the steering wheel or the big screen in the middle. It keeps the dashboard super sleek and modern

The build quality is a joke. Over 20 items they had to fix upon delivery. Most haven’t been fixed right and two they can’t fix so going through the lemon process with them. Just shocking how they screwed up a relatively solid product.

I have owned a M3 LT for over two months and it is my first EV. I now volunteer to do all the grocery shopping and all my wife’s errands just so I can drive it. The Acceleration is exhilarating. I keep it in Chill Mode unless I am on the interstate. The audio system is outstanding. The seats and driving adjustments provide a lot of comfort. Charging with a home Charge Point charger is not slow pulling 48 amps on a 60 amp circuit. Looking forward to going on a long road trip.

Major QC issues. Inside covered with dust when delivered. Did not come aligned correctly, suspension made bad or loose spring noises. Steering wheel creaks, not sturdy. Lots of interior rattles. Came on cheap not all season tires. FSD is a total joke on country roads. Tons of crazy panel gaps. Ambient LED lighting was fading in patches around the car within a few months. Interior materials not durable at all. The center armrest creaks if you use it! I also could not make do with 50% range loss in new england winter. The heat pump really does nothing for you at 14 F or below. Yes it is a fast car, but there are a load of problems that come with it. At a loss, I switched back to a toyota and much happier now.

First time Tesla owner's impression

Jie, 12/31/2024
2024 Tesla Model 3 Long Range 4dr Sedan (electric DD)
1 of 2 people found this review helpful

Not a big fan of any EV because I don’t spend much on fuel and I’m well over the age of passionate driving style so the 0-60 time means little to me. Sold my 2018 MB GLC300 4Matic for this 2024 LR RWD M3 for my wife, because first, she kind of likes to try a Tesla sometime, now is in a newer model year GLC; second, her commute is 5 miles one-way and I consider that a harsh condition for an ICE car while a Tesla will be a good fit; third reason, the OTD price isn’t bad after $7500 tax subsidy. I’m not paying $5K more for a AWD because it’s not a fair price. Mercedes only asks for $2K more for a AWD than a RWD and we live in CA, no snow at all. Ok, that’s all for the background info and now for the car. Steering wheel feels artificial especially when trying to park but quite normal when driving, and it also feels less nimble in the parking lot than my GLC suv. The rear view is very limited due to the hatchback design and the A pillars are thick enough to block the driver’s front side views. The regenerative braking works well but when you really need the braking paddles, well I’m not saying they ain't working but just don't give me the confidence like my Mercedes does, despite the almost identical curb weight and tire width. The blinker button design instead of a stalk is dumb because after 200 miles of driving I still need to look down to locate the button to turn on the turning signal. This is equivalent to checking your phone while driving, which is really confusing because when you design a car, you usually try to eliminate anything with potential influence to driving. When I was young, I often texted people while driving a stick shift car and what I mean is, I can drive with this blinker button on the steering wheel without huge problems but am very against this idea whoever from Tesla came up with. Please be a responsible car manufacturer. Auto wipers not programmed as well as Mercedes. They are not able to find the right spot between lazy and busy. Well, Tesla offers another button on the steering wheel for you to find when you want to wipe once. If you'd like to shift from Auto to fixed speeds, do it from the screen, again, just like texting on your phone while driving. The glove box is tiny, literally a purse size, good for registration and insurance card though, and needs 2 clicks on the screen to open. Why don’t you just put a regular lock on it, Tesla? I really don’t get it. Just imagine your first stop would be some switch in your living room before you can get access to the bathroom, every time guys. That's mostly it about the downsides, except not offering matts which is insane. I know I can order it from anywhere but is it really a good idea to let the customers drive away their new car without matts, especially on a rainy day? Now, good parts of the car. Tried FSD on local roads and it works very well, better than my wife. We won't subscribe after free trial though. Space, both front and rear seats and seat material are very adequate, better than a Mercedes C-class in my opinion. I'm 5'10" and can sit behind myself comfortably. Trunk space is also good. Driving dynamic is pretty good. Noise control is better than my Mercedes probably because of the new dual layer window glass, and the regular tires, not run-flat. I didn't see any problems with the alignments of parts or rattles or anything when picking up and the white paint is good quality. not sure yet how the customer service does but heard a lot of bad things about them. hopefully this car will be reliable and doesn't need to visit the dealer shops often. I did make a lot of comparisons with my Mercedes because Tesla is definitely a luxury brand in terms of the price and parts cost and labor, etc. overall impression, 4 out 5 for this RWD M3. please note that I'm using it as a short commute and errand car. This review may be less of a reference for other types of usage. One last thing, I spent less than 2 minutes in a model y at the dealership and found that 3 has better head room and thigh support for the rear seat passengers. Not sure if I was right because it was just a 2- minute impression. Also I see many YouTubers claiming their model y has HUGE space. Well if you consider Y as a sub- compact SUV, yes, it has a lot of space, but if you believe it’s a compact like BMW X3 Audi Q5 and MB GLC, the space isn’t that outstanding at all, and actually all other compacts including RAV4 and CRV has it. The only difference is Model Y’s trunk opens bigger.

It’s been a couple of years now with my model 3 and I love everything about my model 3 long range I did as the day it was new. The car has held up exceptionally well with no needed maintenance except for tire change and cabin air filter at 40,000 miles. The car still performs and drives like new without any rattles or squeak. The sound system is amazing. The only thing I don’t like is there is no spare tire and the no cover for the glass roof in the summer. Otherwise it’s a GREAT CAR highly recommend.

06/12/25 Final review: enjoyed this vehicle while we owned it with the exception of a few key things. First, despite taking the car to the Tesla Service Center in Fresno a few times, they were unable to eliminate a few squeaks and rattles from the drivers seat and steering column. We were told that was all “normal behavior.” I’m sorry a $50K car shouldn’t be making noises like that. Other than quality was solid, paint in the front bumper is very soft. Despite taking upmost care in maintaining the paint it still had numerous paint chips. Second, while the vehicle is pretty efficient, the constant need to charge and fluctuating cost of superchargers (peak times) is kind of petty. I know gas prices go up and down. But when the goal is encourage people to seek alternative fueled vehicles consumers shouldn’t be penalized with almost $60 cent per kw rates. I was spending almost the same to fill up the battery to 80% daily as I was filling my V8 6.2L Silverado High Country with gas for the week. I had no access to a charger at home and had to rely on public charging. I traded the vehicle in for a 2025 Camry XSE Hybrid and couldn’t be happier. Miss the Tesla performance and quietness of the car. But don’t miss the need to constantly charge at the superchargers. Have been very impressed with the vehicle so far, just took delivery of a 2024 Performance Model 3 and have never owned a Tesla vehicle before. I come from traditional ICE vehicles, Camrys, Accords, MDX, Corollas, Silverados, and Mustangs. Finally took the plunge into the EV world, very impressed with the build quality, quietness, solidity, and even refinement of this Highland refresh model 3. Only 200 miles so far, time will tell after a few thousand miles charging, highway commute travel will treat this beast. But it is a tame as long as you are smooth on throttle. Cheers to the Grey Ghost!

Previous car: Audi S5. I am absolutely. Loving. This. Car! Comfortable, sporty, sexy, roomy, love the technology. I was scared at first to make the switch from gas to EV, but glad I did, just topped off at a supercharger for $16.

The first big lemon law on Tesla website is Asking you to place a order on line When you calculate and choose your model Website asking you to place order with $250 non refundable credit Then will surprise you with double the price Even if you take screenshots from final calculations, you will end up in losing your $250 if you didn’t like the final pricing that revealed to you exactly after placing order Website will never tell you the final pricing Battery goes down fast ,no Tesla supercharger available everywhere Stressing out long driving with AC or heater Battery dies fast you will find yourself nowhere on freeways no customer service You deal with app and robots Big mistake driving this toys Model 2024 monitor Park P touch bottom is Between forward and backwards driving options you slide forward arrow to start driving it jumps back on P park It happens so many times same problem to slid the backwards arrow I leased model 3 after one day I wanted to return ,Tesla wanted me to drive it at least 1000 miles before I decided anything Am forwarding my case to Tesla lemon law attorney

Bought. My first one in May, 2019. Not many around at that point. Because it got over 200 to a charge was the selling point. Better yest... little maintenance. Gave to my daughter. Bought a 2023 which I will give to my younger daughter. Time to move from Gas to Electric. What's not to like, especially after repairing Gas cars. Would recommend it to anyone. Talk to any owner. Never talked to any who don't like them. Can't wait to get one for me

Best and Reliable electric motor technology

Should we discuss about the cost? It luxury car and expect to pay for high price cost and allignmen. However, the design of Tesla motor is extremely efficient and reliable that NO other EV company sofar can achieve by today Dec 2023. They manufacture their own battery so when thing go wrong the manufacturer go straight to their factory and fix it rather than contact and go through a bunch of battery company in China , Korea. They innovate their battery to a more density and more safe.

How to stop turn signal use

Love my model3 RWD. I had a 2021 standard range plus but it was written off by state farm after my neighbors caught on fire and melted my front bumper and clouded my headlights. Everything worked for weeks before State Farm wrote it off. My new model3 RWD is so much better. I want to shove a perfectly working turn stile stalk up Elon’s ass! 50 years of using turn signals down the drain! Let’s make the button right next to the radio control and make it move while turning! I demand a recall for this alone! New versions have a turn stalk again, I wonder why?

The performance model not just quicker!

Some self-described “car guy” on here said no need to get the P model because of how quick the AWD version is; well, he either isn’t really a car guy or he forgot to drive this thing! The AWD is quick and rides better than my 2020 P model, but the ride and especially the handling, even on the street, is a very significant step up from ANYTHING Tesla has done to date—well worth the peanuts in extra cost. M3/4 you have met your match at half price!

The best overall package

I’m not a fan of Elon Musk’s involvement in politics, but I’ve got to admit—the new Model 3 is hands down the best overall EV you can get in the U.S. right now. Between the easy access to Tesla’s Supercharger network, solid handling, great efficiency, and the best in-car tech experience out there, it’s hard to beat. The software is smooth, intuitive, and way ahead of most competitors. Even the Full Self-Driving (FSD) system, which gets a lot of hate, is actually really impressive. It’s way more capable than people give it credit for—definitely one of the best systems you can use in the U.S. today. Of course, it’s not perfect. Since it’s built in the U.S., you might run into some minor quality issues—like a slightly misaligned center console or some trim not lining up perfectly. But honestly, most of that is cosmetic and Tesla will usually fix it for free if you catch it in the first year. Also, because the car’s so quiet (no engine noise), you’ll probably notice little squeaks and rattles more than you would in a gas car. It’s not a dealbreaker, but something to keep in mind.

Just wanted to share how much I truly love my Tesla Model 3 .From the smooth and quiet drive to the instant torque, it’s a joy to drive every day. I appreciate how I don’t have to stop for gas anymore, and charging at home has made everything so convenient. Autopilot on longer drives is a game changer, making road trips and daily commutes so much more relaxing. I also love the minimalist interior and how everything is controlled from the touchscreen. It’s honestly one of the best decisions I’ve made, not just for the fun driving experience but also for the savings on gas and maintenance. Plus, it feels good knowing it’s better for the environment . Just grateful for this car every day!

Awesome car with great performance and no problems like our past BMW and Jaguar cars. Our past cars service and warranty issues were nuts and our Tesla is just a better value in terms of reliability, performance and comfort..

If you’re eligible for EV incentives, absolutely nothing can beat the economy and performance of this car. The basic model is exciting to drive and handles well. The battery life is dependent on your driving style - definitely expect to have less miles per charge if you take advantage of the performance or have a lot of freeway driving. I’m fortunate enough to have free charging at work and with the cost savings between that and not having to maintain a combustion engine, I’m not sure anything comes close to the value of the model 3. The Tesla charging system is ubiquitous and makes road trips very easy. I have no complaints through 2 years.
