2024 Improvements Tip the Scale

We’ve been simultaneously in awe of, and skeptical of Tesla for years. Awesome sales, and the growing sense that we are missing out on something on one hand. Risks of a new manufacturer, personality and politics in another. We recently took ownership of a 3LR and are thoroughly enjoying the revolutionary approach to driving, design, safety, and technology. There is definitely a visionary “tech/transportation” statement being channeled; ie: minimalism, programmable horn (which includes an extensive range of human flatulency), a light show replete with fanfare crescendos, (and the car’s transformation into a virtual firework), extensive gaming options, and advanced streaming support…as well as way-too-much-power, tight handling and a quiet comfortable cabin. “Nerd,” in a good way, keeps coming to mind as my own inner nerd is activated and inspired. One begins to think differently behind the wheel of a Tesla. It IS paradigm shifting, and it feels ok. The updates for 2024 propelled us. The other hand can sit back and ponder judgement. Which single automotive company has done more to eliminate ICE exhaust poisons? Look around…Teslas are everywhere. Is Tesla a risky venture? No. I know there are people I will be at odds with. I am related to many. I hope by leaning-in we build connections that are not dependent upon a political litmus.

Okay Tech. Garbage car

I'm thoroughly unimpressed by the Model 3. There are 4 things going for the Tesla. The charging network (will not be an issue moving forward with all manufacturers choosing the NACs charger), the OTA firmware updates, the phone key and software and the space utilization in the trunk and frunk. Everything else is just so bad! The ride is harsh. There is a lot of cabin noise. The Tesla is the epitome of distracted driving with non tactile touch input. Two highly overloaded buttons do little while driving. The voice controls are a joke (as in every car I have used). The smart features are technically very impressive but simply not good enough. The auto lock button takes too long, the smart headlights take too long to go back after dipping. Two years in and still get phantom braking in Adaptive cruise control. Takes too long to brake in cruise control. Too long to speed up after stopping at a traffic light. Wipers can never be set on auto because it uses cameras instead of rain sensors so it starts going wild in bright daylight. Too slow changing speed when it rains. When I'm driving on country roads in the night, the right camera never works. Messages flash in small font on the display. No Android Auto. I was hoping when I bought it that I could side trade into a Ioniq 5 or an EV6 in a couple of years, but the value of the Model 3 has plunged and the Korean cars have depreciated much slower. I don't know what my next car will be, but for sure it won't be a Tesla. Update: Sold the Model 3 at a loss. Leased the Ioniq 5 Limited. Complete opposite experience of the Tesla. Absolutely love the car and ride. Tesla is just so much better in the phone software and profiles. Single Pedal driving on Tesla is much better. No OTA firmware updates. That's about it. *Every* other thing is just so much better.

Not Great

Car is quick but the styling both in and out is very bland and boring. Build quality is sketchy and the massive touch screen detracts from the interior. Next EV will be something with more style and comfort

Good vehicle with a few negatives

Purchased new March 2023. After driving 8,500 miles. This is my favorite car I've ever owned. Being able to charge at home is a definite bonus and money saver. Great acceleration in the RWD model is impressive. The only negatives is the real world driving range is not what is advertised. When using cruise control the car will break hard at times for no apparent reason. If your able to charge at home or work place I would recommend. Supercharger will cost you about $18.00 +/-
