Suzuki Aerio Review: best safety&comfort
See for yourself as I did: Suzuki Aerio has best automotive safety crash test[visit website from 'new car'link]in its class & against almost all other makes/models(compare overall number of 'g' ratings to lexus, bmw...)and anyone who cares about driving safety will also appreciate comfort & handling. Aerio SX standard features are loaded: ABS,dual airbags, tilt steering, large easy view windows+rear wiper,6CD,power accessories for almost everything, child rear seat restraint,& extra travel cups!
More Bang for your buck!
Car is peppy, easy to handle, fun to drive. Plenty of power, outstanding comfort. Best car out there for the price. More room then Focus and Matrix. Complete loaded with all the good stuff.
Aerio SX, best in class
I got my 2003 Suzuki Aerio three weeks ago and so far it's a beauty. By looking at all the other high reviews for it, that doesn't seem to change as time goes on. It is a great, reliable car...in my opinion best in its class.
Very happy with my Aerio SX
After 2+ years and almost 40,000 miles we are still very happy with our Aerio SX. Oil changes and other fluid changes are the only money that we've spent other than a burnt out light bulb in the dash, (which was fixed in 15 minutes under warranty). This is a lot of car for not much money. Its gas mileage is a steady 27 - 29 in mixed city / freeway driving. We will purchase another Suzuki product when the time comes!
Happy Aerio Owner
This car is a joy to drive. It has handling on the highways I drive that is comporable to the European cars I have owned in the past. It has plenty of get up and go, the gas mileage is not as good as my Swift's was, but it doesn't do badly at all. I get about 32 miles per gallon on highway. I live in the desert and I drive the state highway all the time. I do not do any city driving at any length. I have had no repairs done except for scheduled maintenance. I now have had nearly 50,000 miles of touble free driving, which is very important in the middle of the CA desert.
Unique and an absolute joy to drive
This car is the best affordable AWD car $ for $. My expectations were far exceeded.
Price DOES matter!
Read Edmunds Compact Wagon Comparison test. Don't most of us establish a budget as the first rule of auto buying? Wouldn't you pick a Ford Escape, bigger & better over a Matrix, as they are similar in price? For 2003 the Aerio has a bit more HP & Torque. It did pretty well in the comparison, but the 2003 would likely finish #1. Note the 2003 now has the 6CD changer/radio standard. Who likes the fake metal interior trim of a Matrix??
I love it!
I love my new car. I don't know what the deal is whith consumer reports, car and driver, etc. I feel as though this car is solid and will last me the next 10 years. Suzuki, will you make a hybrid version please! That would make the car perfect (well, that plus different upholstry)!
Best buy, and I've been looking forever
I have my yellow Aerio SX hatchback and I love all of the looks I get. I've been looking for about 3 months now. I've driven every car in it's class and this is by far the best buy for your money. With the $2000 rebate or 0% interest rate, it's much cheaper than the Toyota Matrix and the Pontiac Vibe. There is much more room in the back seat. There's a built in cover for your privacy of articles in the trunk. The reversable floor mat and water bucket are very nice. There's lots of storage in the rear and an additional cup holder for the back passengers. It drives like a champ. There's plenty of pick up and the gas just never ends.
I LOVE MY AERIO SX
GREAT BUY MY OTHER CAR IS A 1994 FLEETWOOD WITH A LT1 CORVETTE MOTER AND I WILL HAVE TO TELL YOU MY AERIO IS A BLAST TO DRIVE ITS SO HARD TO BELEIVE HOW THEY MADE SO MUCH ROOM INSIDE OF THIS LITTLE CAR LOTS OF SMALL STORAGE PLACES. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A REALLY NEAT LITTLE CAR WITH A GREAT COMFORT RIDE AND DRIVE TEST DRIVE AN AERIO SX BEFORE YOU BUY
Suzuki Aerio SX Wagon is good
You pay less for Suzuki up front but you have to upgrade them to your liking. For example, the suspension needs to be upgraded, the engine needs a performance boost but the overall car is fine. The only complaint I have is the Suzuki should have promoted the Aerio for the long haul but instead they dropped the model just like the Esteem model line. The transferable warranty is makes them a good used car buy.
Close Counts
Ive was shopping in the sports sedan/crossover category for a few months. On a whim I test drove the Susuki Aerio SX. Initially I was skeptical that a car of this price could pack in the features that it does. When compared. with the Matrix/Vibe I was sold. 14000 hard miles later, I continue to be impressed. I get 31-35 MPG at highway speeds and I love the interior room ( Im 6'4" )Actually, this is my third Suzuki, I owned a Samuri for many years while living in USVI and was never let down by the rugged engineering and reliabilty especially when you consider the the abuse it took on crappy island roads. . The Aerio is a good value. Recommended.
Making My Friends Jealous!
I just bought the 5-speed Aerio SX in silver less than a week ago and I love it. This car has tons of room (my previous car was a Geo Metro), tons of standard features, and a great warranty. I got mine for a little over $13,000 with tax and title. My friend who has the Toyota Matrix is jealous because she spent $3,000 more and didn't even get keyless entry!
Remarkable
I purchased my new Aerio SX in Yellow and I agree. The color makes people stop and stare, children wave, and the highway is always a funny journey. I was stopped at the Tolls in NH to be asked who made the car and what it was!! Love the car. Ride is great, and the size is perfect. Wish it had a Sun/Moon Roof for the future. I am ready to do the Commercial in order to show just how much fun a person can have in the car.
Incredibly reliable experience
We bought this Suzuki as a commute vehicle for my wife. It's simply been an incredible experience, as the car has been not only a lot of fun to drive, but it has been reliable beyond all expectations. With only normal dealer maintenance service, we have not had a single mechanical problem. As a huge bonus, the handling, braking, steering, and utility have all been enjoyed and utilized a tremendous amount.
A joy of ride and great styling !!
I have test driven the Matrix AWD, and this Aerio AWD. I love the Aerio more since I feel that it pulls off the line stronger than the Matrix does. I am sure the 145 horses is better than 123 on the Matrix. I love the screaming yellow!!! I love it!!! I have replaced with 17" alloys and love it even more!!! Great gas mileage!!!
Excellent Car
Just got the car in September. It is a very nice looking car with good build. It has a powerful engine for a car of its size. It handles well and allows for very comfortable and exciting ride. Good amount of space available when needed. Nice hidden compartments to put away little things under the passenger's seen and in the back. It has a modern look to it from the outside and the inside while still feeling like a good sold quality build unit. Nice numeric dash, exact numbers and clear (very clear) even when the sun is shining directly one it. A lot of room is available for the legs in the front and the back seets.
best sport-cross for the money!
I bought my yellow Aerio SX two months ago and I have never had a regret. The room in such a tiny-looking car is unbelievable. Awesome standard features, like alloy wheele, a great 6-cd Clarion stereo, power everything, cruise, tilt, and storage galore. And ho-boy did I save money compared to a Protege5, Vibe, or Matrix. All of these cost so much more with the same equipment, yet do not have the pep of my Aerio.
So you thought they only made cycles!
Bought the base model MSRP $14,999, $12,999 after $2,000 rebate and dealer cash. What more could you ask for, mileage, interior room, performance, driveability, and warranty? All areas better than I expected. It seems that you either like the styling or hate it. Keep an eye on Suzuki, they are going to give Toyota and Honda a run for their money.
Best Bang for your Buck in the Class.
This is a great car. I'm going on nine months with the car, through a cold Canadian Winter with plenty of snow and ice, as well as the heat of early Summer. Reliabilty has been 100%. Cold Winter starts have been no problem (regularily -35C in Winter). AWD was wonderful for Winter, although it does take a slight change in driving style over your typical FWD, took about month to accustomize to taking corners properly in an AWD on ice. But now that that has occured i'll never go back to FWD. Air is very capable in Summer heat. Car has plenty of power for its class. Excellent standard options. Suzuki has built a winner here.
What a cute car!
This is my first new car purchase and I couldn't be more pleased. I've had the car less than a month and have already put close to 1800 miles on it. Drives great and catches the eye of many. I was first interested in the Pontiac Vibe, until I found the Areio SX - an awesome value for the $$.
so fun to drive
i just recently purchased a 2003 suzuki aerio sx five speed fwd. i have to say that this is by far one of the most fun cars to drive on the market today. my wife likes the room and i like the power.
Best price/quality ratio in its class
roomy enough, peppy enough, surprisingly good cornering and breaking, not really noisy for 4 cyl. car
great deal and unique car...best in show
bought my yellow aerio sx, ABS and auto but no AWD. Dealer was very helpful and not sleazy. got the car for 13550 inc. destination fee. roomy, unique, fast, quiet, fast, versatile, fast, fun to drive, fast. originaly intended to replace my 88 tercel, my wife now borrows it everytime she can. no neighbors with torches threatening to burn my "ugly" car like car &driver warned me. bahhumbug!!! everyone that looks at the car loves it!!
Very under-estimated car
In my opinion although this car came sixth out of six in it's category, it came number one in both engine and transmission. This is 90% of what you want in a car. Very cormfortable seats and guess what - all my friends (some have a Matrix and a Protege 5) think that this is the most fun car to own. Love the sound of the peppy engine, very fuctional interior unlike the competitors who have useless storage for things like cellphones Safety hazard) and junk food (no place for wrappers. Gets quieter at higher speeds
bought mine new in 03 Best car ever!
Mine is ready to hit 180,000, other than maintenance.in 20 years, it has been wrecked 4 times, twice badly, but fixed and back on the road! in 20 years, and over the years It's had a water pump, ignition switch, valve cover gasket, ball joints, 2 sets of brakes, 6 sets of tires, and last year a starter and radiator and this year new coils, and an alternator and a motor mount, It still purrs like a kitty, has lots of power, and I keep the oil changed, I went to a full synthetic Motor oil last year., and I also keep the transmission fluid changed too. It helps I found out if you put the correct Fluid in it. It will shift better.

Great Start Suzuki!
The small footprint makes it easier to park and to get around. Even though it's small on the outside, there's ample leg and head room and plenty of space for hauling people and stuff inside. The engine is quite peppy. I have no problems merging on the highway or passing others. Some might find the digital dash a little distracting but it's easy to get used to. All in all, I find my SX to be a GREAT car for the price. If you're in the market for a great vehicle with lot of standard options, awesome safety ratings and is inexpensive to boot, the Aerio SX is a fantastic buy. It's a nice for a new family too. Hopefully I'll be driving my Suzuki for years to come.
my experiance driving the car
fun to drive and and satisfied with the pep and handlang.
Very good car
I have put 36,000 miles on this car. So far it has been very reliable, but I have had some minor problems. The catalytic converter had to be replaced, and it's rattling again. Also, the overhead light shutoff failed twice. I had better replacement brake pads installed by dealer better than the originals. However, I enjoy every minute that I drive this car, Its handling is very good (did the Edmund's reviewer even drive it?), It is a better value and has a smoother ride than the Subaru Impreza. The all wheel drive is great. I would definitely buy another.
