CVT Transmission problems
We purchased a used 2014 Crosstrek trade in at a local Patrick Subaru dealer. We were told the vehicle was purchased there and all service was performed by this dealer. They claimed the car passed their rigorous multi-point inspection. Purchase rice was $13,500.00 The vehicle has lasted 9 months with approx 12K miles. We did 2 oil changes. Then, the car started making a howling noise. Took it to Patrick Subaru where we bought it. They told us that the transmission was shot and the repair would cost roughly $9500.00 and it was not worth repairing. This was a "Subaru Certified" trade in. It lasted less than 10 months and we still owe $8500.00 on this worthless paperweight. Stay away from any Subaru with the automatic CVT transmission. It WILL fail. Don't buy this model
There is a reason why they stopped making hybrid Crosstrek XV models. My hybrid light kept coming on. It all started when we replace the regular battery. My car wouldn't start so we put a generic battery in and the light went off. But then it kept coming on again at 88,000 miles the car broke down completely and I was stuck in Maine for a week with them saying it was the alternator. That cost $1,200. The light went off everything was fine until a month later the hybrid light came on again. My husband was driving back from Boston and the car completely broke down again fortunately just 4 miles from our house. Brought it to the Subaru dealership. They said it had to do with the generic battery so they put a Subaru battery in for $200. They said it was fixed and when I started it to bring it home the hybrid light was still on. After reading these reviews it seems there was a reason they stopped making the hybrid system. I would not get a hybrid product from anyone until it's been proven for several years.

Oil Consumption Issues
After I purchased a 2014 Crosstrek from a local Subaru dealer, the Low Oil Indicator light came on every 2,500 miles. The dealer then informed me that the 2013 and 2014 Crosstreks have oil consumption issues during the break in period. When the car had 30k miles, the car would still be down 1 quart or more between changes, so I traded it for a way more reliable Toyota.
Best car ever!
This is my 14th car. My second Subaru. I just traded in my 2005 Forester for a Crosstrek. I don't understand the comment about the audio speakers. My Forester had a VERY upgraded Jensen system and the factory Crosstrek speakers beat that to infinity. I love everything about this car. I chose the Crosstrek because Subaru keeps making the models larger. The new Forester is the same size as the old Outback. The new Outback is a behemoth to me. Anyway . . .the interior is great, the ammenities are great, the styling is great. My only two downs are: the turning radius is a bit less and the visibility is a bit less (the Forester had virtually NO blind spots). I highly recomment this car. Highly.

104,000 Mile Review
Auxiliary battery and ISG failed AGIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!at 104,000 miles "while driving". Very dangerous. Both are part of hybrid system. I am so disgusted and pissed. I am a mechanical engineer with a PE license in several states. I will NEVER buy a Subaru again.
